I just got mine. The delivery guy was lucky I was home cuz I went outside and helped him carry it. It's much heavier than I thought. Hopefully the husky standing/ sitting workbench i bought is hefty enough to hold it when it's going full speed

Great video, I will definitely use this when setting up my P2 which just arrived. But come on dude, #DONT-GET-SOFT. Its 100 lb., suck it up buttercup and lift it. No need to resign yourself to defeat and get the missus involved. Time to hit the gym. You got working mans flannel shirt. You got a cool Spartan warrior, Lumberjack, Viking warrior beard, time to start acting like it. Don't let the laser show you who's boss.

Also I do have a brain and I know what may happen when straining my back. The problem is not just its weight but also the size, being very large and bulky. So it means it's hard to grab it in a comfortable way. But you go ahead tackle it on your own. I can't afford to be bed bound for a month with a bad back 👍

As a recent owner of a diode laser (2 months) I am already drooling of owning a desktop CO2 laser in the future. Won't be any time soon as I'm still experimenting with this new hobby but so far it's been very fun. This xTool P2 looks very clean and well designed. Curious how these devices will evolve in a year.

Bit of a different beast compared to the diode lasers I have to say. Hope it will come down in price as well. Perfect machine for a small business

Thank you. Yes in this case that was the part of the agreement. I wanted this machine as it aligns with my needs to what I want to do with my business. Hopefully my future videos will give some good ideas to others so they can have some extra side income.

There's only two screws you should be messing with when adjusting the mirror. Please check the howtos xtool provides first ;-).

One of the best reviews of this laser I have seen! Thank you for going in to detail about the setup. One question - presumably when doing the test fire/mirror set up part you had to cover the laser each time?
@CasualDIY
@CasualDIY 9 месяцев назад
Thank you. Yes you have to close the lid. However the proces is instant. You press the button to fire the beam and 2 seconds later you can open the lid. So it's not too bad at all.

Hi, congratulations for the video, would it be possible to run a business with the P2 in an apartment or would it be a problem with the neighbors due to noise and fume management? Would the ventilation system leave any residue in the room? Thank you very much for the sincere response
@CasualDIY
@CasualDIY 6 месяцев назад
I don't think the noise will be an issue however the fumes will. You may need to look into buying some sort of filtration unit. I think xTool actually has such a unit. Depending on what you planning to make with this it may leave some residue.

Excellent initial look at a CO2 laser, look forward to see what you do with this 👍 A few things ... 1) Why oh why would you put an emergency stop hidden away at the rear right hand corner of the machine? 2) Why wasn't the rear cover designed to hook into the top with the screws at the back securing it! Also ... XTOOL ... £4400 for a 55W CO2 laser with a 600mm x 306mm work area or this, the first one found via Gurgle ... OMTECH £2300 for a 60W CO2 laser with a 700mm by 500mm work area (+£150 for a water chiller). So more power, a larger working area and at nearly half the price ... mind you doesn't have cameras!! I'm all for companies making a profit, but this seems excessive, even for XTOOL!!
@CasualDIY
@CasualDIY 9 месяцев назад
1) exactly 2) exactly- and you do have to go in there from time to time. I guess later on you don't need to put the screws back on from the inside of the machine as the ones at the back should be sufficient. I think its about the extra features, build in air assist, build on fume extraction, two cameras, auto focus, no bottom and raiser accessory allows you to engrave every thick items. With the feeder accessory you can engrave or cut as long material as you want. The quality of this product is very nice and in theory it's a desktop machine.
@barry.w.christie
@barry.w.christie 9 месяцев назад
@@CasualDIY OMTECH ... built in air assist YES, built in fume extraction YES, auto focus NO, cameras NO (can be added) but has a laser pointer, has both honeycomb and blade beds, max workpiece height of 230mm, emergency stop at the front YES, pass through for long items YES (although not automated). There is no denying that the XTOOL machine is a great machine, but I think nearly double the price for a few nice to have features is a bit much!!

@@barry.w.christie I think it's because its new, I believe it came out this year. Most likely next year it will have a heavy discount... as P3 rolls in 😅

It's too see stuff like this but how many DIY's can afford a lazer set up of this price.i understand from a sponsored item helps your funding but lets be honest how many can actually afford this item.
@CasualDIY
@CasualDIY 9 месяцев назад
It's definitely aimed at small businesses or at someone that wants some side income.
@ulaB
@ulaB 9 месяцев назад
It's about 5000 EUR. A lot of hobbyists buy more expensive tools and hardware than this for their hobby ;-). I for example have bought one, because I wanted to play with a bigger machine than the usual diode lasers - which I find kind of dangerous to begin with…

Help! When I did the 1st mirror path it was off. So I adjusted it from the back and got it centered. Now I'm on the 2nd mirror laser path and its not showing up anywhere! I've moved it to the left all the way to the bottom left and it doesn't show up at all. How do I get the 2nd mirror to work now??
@CasualDIY
@CasualDIY 8 месяцев назад
Ok so maybe you went with the adjustment too far try to take the first mirror where it was to see if that's the issue. Secondly I know it may be a long shot but is the mirror the correct way in? Mirror going to the inside?

QUESTION: HOW is it possible to get the machine to not photograph the substrate you place in it with perspective? I inserted small wooden box - but the image in the xTool Creative Space software looks "fish-eyed" or with a "depth-of-field"? It makes it difficult to properly align an imported image to be perfectly centered on the substrate.
@CasualDIY

It does have a secondary camera, just use the close up view with it.

Tomasz, I noticed that when you were doing the installation of the antifreeze that you actually placed your fingertips onto the tube of the laser 😢, I just wanted to let you know that this is a major No No !!! Doing this leaves behind a residue from your fingers, and overtime it will cause damage to the laser and the amount of time it will last before you need to replace it. I have this machine but by a different manufacturer and the very best advice I can give you is simply to clean the mirrors and the tube at the end of each day's use to remove any remaining soot. This will help the laser and other part's to last a way lot longer than the manufacturer recommends. As always brother 💯% 👍 🇬🇧.

Kinda same thing as touching car light bulb when changing it.
@CasualDIY

Thank you for the advice, I'll clean it up👍
@ulaB
@ulaB 9 месяцев назад
Is this true for a laser tube? The outer glass of the tube is just containing the cooling water. It's not like a lightbulb which gets hot and will burn the fat of your fingers into the glass… If the outside of the laser tube gets that hot, you have a very different problem.

I think you need a second channel for lasers 😂
@CasualDIY
@CasualDIY 9 месяцев назад
I was thinking about that, it could happen next year. However the more powerful lasts 30W and above can, and specifically the latest 40W Longer and of course this Xtool have enough power to tackle some of the projects that were only available to CNC machines. Hopefully I will show you some cool things you can make with them that work great in a woodworking workshop or a DIYers workshop that is thinking about having a small business. Times are tough and having an ability to earn extra cash 💸 is important I think. From my own personal perspective we even started our own small vegetable garden as they are so expensive to buy.

Hehe sorry you feel that way. However it is a great tool and hopefully I will be able to show you in my future videos how that could benefit a woodworking workshop, and help in creating a bit of extra income specially with nowadays prices of everything. Secondly the laser videos are sponsored which means I can buy materials for my projects. Otherwise I would not be able to afford them. I made a big purchase of mdf and plywood, which after nearly a month I'm still waiting for. Those materials are for my workshop and house projects that I hope you will enjoy. There is only so many little projects I can make without repeating myself. But hey I always ask my viewers what project they would like to see, so let me know if there is something specific I can make that you would like to see.
