Jujutsu is a pugilistic submission grappling discipline. If you only work the ground, then it’s groundwork, not jiu-jitsu. If it’s standing, but only grappling then it’s wrestling, but not to Jitsu. If it’s standing and striking or even on the ground striking, it’s Boxing or ground pound, but not jujutsu. The aspects of jujutsu require one to be able to strike and submit from the bottom positions or top positions. It requires a conditioning beyond explosiveness or full power or control of weight off the ground. it requires the focus of holding painful positions. It requires the focus of twisting, turning stretching, compacting along the body through transitions from posture to posture. It requires the control of breath, structure, and movement to the point that one can have the foundations for triggering a flow state. this video shows what happens when a grappler or wrestler faces someone who can do the same grappling and wrestling in skill, but has striking skills equal to their grappling skills.
