I have found , just by chance , that the Rex Begonia has been my most successfully well performing indoor plant. I keep it in a bright NE window , or sometimes I place in under a nice grow light. I left it in its original peat moss and water it thoroughly only when the leaves begin to droop. I don’t usually like peat moss , but for this plant it works well. I gently water using a small watering can with long spout , not getting the leaves or stems wet. In the 6 months that I’ve had it , it hasn’t lost its leaves and retains its vibrant reddish coloration , and is putting out healthy new growth from its base. I have given it liquid fertilizer only twice . I’m very content with its hardiness so far and plan to stick with this species as an indoor plant.

I got a Begonia Rex a few weeks ago at Walmart...killed it in less than a week....got a new one today...a very large one....it was on sale for $2 and I hope to have better luck! I also have a standard flowering Begonia outside and it is in full bloom!

Warning ...this is going to be a super long comment ... Almost like a letter to you!! 😂 I just stumbled across your video and i must say ..i liked the content and the presentation. Very organised and systematic way of talking about each aspect. But by normal standards ..i am supposed to be happy for you, thrilled to see your collection and so glad you have figured out how to grow and keep healthy Begonias!!! But i am and i am not also at the same time ... I am super jealous of your crazy mind blowing collection mainly because i am struggling with my 4 ( yes only 4) begonias and have killed some beautiful ones in the past. I don't know if the weather in south India makes its harder for begonias to thrive. But what a beautiful collection! 😱😱 But nevertheless....i have learnt a few important things today watching your video and wish me luck ...let me re try having some nice begonias in my balcony garden based on your tips!! Keep up the good work .... looking forward to seeing more videos.
