Behind Closed Doors; India's Elderly are Abused and Neglected 

My grandmother died at 83. She was unable to walk with bulky body due to blood pressure. For using toilet she needed our help. Sometimes I also cleaned her body parts after she used toilet. But she was more than a mother to me. She starved herself to feed me and if she had more additional life of 20 years more I wouldn't left her at any cost . Just love them , respect them They love you like anything so should u

I will never ever leave my parents in this situation because they wake up in the night for me so I can sleep well in my childhood this is my time and yours to take this as responsibility

Had some relatives who were pretty abusive when I was growing up. Now that they're elderly, their children abandoned them to live on their own. They don't write or call back, and we don't even bother contacting them either because of how they were to us in the past. I recall them telling my parents on how lonely it is, but that's the kind of bed they made. If you make an enemy of your family, don't ever expect them to be there for you when you need them.

My wish is to open a old age home and a orphanage school together and I'll do that for sure💔

They truly deserve it. No child with sane mind would ever abandon their parents until and unless they've done something disgusting. I still remember how my mother fucked up my life which would continue to haunt me forever. I can imagine my mother at old age home.

Everything happens for a reason, not everybody is so innocent as they seem in first glance.

My father is the most selfish person I have come across. He left his old father alone who survived by begging in railway station & then died. We could not cremate his body even. Also my father left my mother for another woman. When I grew up & came to know what had happened in the family, I scolded my father & was tortured mentally. He declared to everyone that he did 2nd marriage as his ist wife was mad & that I was also mad as I am her son. He even took me to a doctor for mental check up. The doctor after 2 days said that I was completely normal & advised him not to force me in his decisions. He was very sad as the doctor did not declare me mad. He was usually instigated by his 2nd wife to force me to leave the house although I was dependent. Still I left & survived by doing tutions & now I am a school teacher. Now I am supporting my mother and my brother. What should be done to such demonic father's?

It's said that Parents can take care of 10 children's but 10 Childress can't take care of their Parents, sad but truth 😔😔

I have a reverse situation at home.... My parents used to abuse me when I was a kid. I was brutally torchered by my mother. Now I am 31. My parents forced me to marry a girl not of my choice. They take away all my money so that I don't become independent. I wish to give them a life worst then the one shown in the video.

Recently I lost my Dad. Alhamduillah I am so happy that I was with him till his last breath when he needed us the most. If I think of my dad life Journey now, he has never troubled us even for 1 Rs. but the last 6 month of his life he just wanted to be pamper as he has become like small baby thou he would not say but his eyes would say a lot. Parents a parents no douth. I miss him so much. Allah grant him Highest level of Jannatal Firdose. Ameen. Those who have parents alive please do take good care of them. There are most precious Jewels. Thou they don't say anything but there eyes says a lot please try to understand them. Please take good care of them.

This is so heartbreaking 💔uff! My only request to people to please take care of your parents/grandparents. They have lived most of their life just to give a better life to you, now it's your time to take care of them. They just need love and respect, nothing else. Please🙏🙏

How on earth can anyone mistreat their parent like that??? Beyond belief!! One mum can look after ten sons.. yet ten sons cannot look after one mum... breaks my heart💔💔 Am extremely proud of my brothers.. They did not leave one stone unturned to get a cure for my mum.. she could not walk and they had to take her to see a doctor whose surgery was on the fourth floor and no lifts.. my brothers carried my mum on a chair all the way up to the fourth floor!!! My mum passed away and she was so happy to have had such gems in forms of my brothers.. These children who inflicts such terrible pains on their parent will never ever be happy.. It is a command from God to take care of their parents.. My heart goes out to these parents and my prayers are with them and the lovely people who are looking after them in the old age home.. bless them🙏🏽🙏🏽

In the future when I will get married I would never let my husband misbehave with his mother ...I would never ' conspire' to separate him from his mother..I don't know how ppl can do such a thing ..how will they face God with deeds like that?

dont leave elderly...... they are base of our family. its very painful when children leave their parents.

I love my parents so much. I can't imagine leaving them. It was hard for me just to go to college and live without them. And think there are assholes that don't want their parents. My grandma, the only alive elder, is wanted by both my mom and my aunt and we helped my other grandma until her dying breath even though she could not move.

That woman who was in charge of Old Age Home is very gentle. She oozes kindness while speaking.

It is not the parents who are unfortunate, it is the children who are unfortunate that they cannot live with their parents and take their blessings . So sad to see this but still we must do our bit and help the society in every possible way .

Why doesn't Quintbgo into more detail? Why not investigate why children abandon their parents? How many of these elderly abused their kids in thwir young age? Domestic abuse is a greater problem in India

I'm an American & I've met several ppl from Gujarati, India, & Bangladesh. They all were lovely ppl & some even took care of their parents hers in America. This is sooo surprising to me I never would've thought this. To hear about a case or two here/there is even common in America but this many, MYYY GOODNESS 😱😳. Breaks my heart man, really 😢!

Charity begins at home. Family members must support each other, live with love. Children should respect the elders & elders should stay with the family with full cooperation. I have seen instances, where the children are so understanding & give respect to the elders, but, the elders are demanding, non humanitarian & donot extend their support where required.

I am 25 and i don’t have a bucket list of dumb things that most of my age people do have..i just want to be a bit financially stable and then donate whatever i can for the rest of my life to orphanage and oldage homes, open a kennel, then educate poor children child. I wish more and more people from this generation look towards nation building like this rather than having bucket lists full of shitload like scuba diving or going to vegas.

Oh it breaks my heart to see this. Yes daughters are very very toxic at times, am a daughter and can say this for daughters and xan claim some of the best daughter in laws do better for in laws. There are two sides to every story. Nobody would do such a thing without a good reason. Humans are hardwired to be attached to their parents. It is hard to imagine that the parents did not do something bad to the children to cause this hatred. They take their children for granted as their property and expect that they will just forget everything. If they were really so loving, they would not be playing the victim and defaming their children like this, no matter how they were.

I refuse to believe that these parents weren’t abusive to their children. I know Indian people they pay back disrespect and respect in kind.

For me a person from Belgium in west europe it is sad to see that India is copying our mistakes of the past...what happens now in India with elderly happened in the '50, '60, ' 70 of the previous century in Europe...why did you not learn from our mistakes dear India...we did not know any better blinded by wealth after second world war, were to busy with making money instead of taking care about our elders and put them in pitty nursing homes, left them there to die, visited ones on sunday cos others did so but for the rest of the week left them in the "care" of make belief...but what is your excuse India for making thesame mistake we have ???

A nice video. Elder care homes or senior care homes are the best for those senior citizens who want to start their second innings. Aumorto is one of the best option for all those who are eagerly waiting to start their 2nd innings. Kudos to Aumorto.

This is heartbreaking. I know about me. I do not know about the future, About the future ahead of me. Don't ever do that to parents. I get it they become like kids but it's your patience that will make you the better person. How much, with love your parents had looked and took care of you. This brings me to tears. :( May God give all the patience and understanding to be there for there parents.

I told my parents n I'm telling all parents please keep money n property with U when required please give on the occasions ..why I told bcoz I'm not bad guy but we cannot predict future how it turns even though a good guy bcoz of wife or some other reason he had to change so which is why I advised

I don’t live in India and I am not at retirement age as yet. I have about 10 yrs left for retirement but I am not waiting for my children to take care of me because I already see they don’t care to. So, one has to be proactive instead of getting that predicament

Solution: All children assets must mandatorily have parents as joint owners. This will make elders secured. Even parents can't gift before their death.

I will guarantee it will never be rewarded. I had similar situation. I was sole breadwinner. Took care of my grand mother and mother. Grand mother died. Mother is mentally challenged. All I earned is used for their purpose, so I am not rich( girls typically marry rich guys and reject poor or average guys). Now I am unmarried and left out. Now rest of my age will be spent earning for her. After she dies there will be no one to take care of me. Now I am 32 I am proud that I have left my mother in old age home. I am earning for my self and saving for my old age home.
