Another brilliant gem from Ms. Kaye. I hope my contributions as an ABT member go directly to fund this program and her content. 💖 Can we all agree that Mrs. Von Meck is the OG sugar mama of the arts? What a fascinating woman, need to learn more about her.

My husband and I also saw Jaffe and Carreno in Kevin McKenzie’s production of Swan Lake in 2000, the very first season that it was offered. During Act II, the lakeside scene, there were audible sobs from the audience. That was absolutely the most memorable moment I have ever experienced during my many times at the ballet. I will never forget it.

I absolutely love Elizabeth Kaye’s Behind the Ballet series. Thank you ABT and Susan Jaffee for making this possible. I loved learning about Tchaikovsky and Petipa and how much gratitude we owe them for transforming ballet into what it is today. Elizabeth’s compelling description of Swan Lake’s story, technicality and artistry made me fall in love with this beloved masterpiece all over again.

Elizabeth Kaye’s insights in this series is so elucidating about all of the ballets that we have known and loved - it is such a delight to learn so much about the history in the creation of these beautiful dances - Kudos to her genius and ABT for giving us Behind the Ballet

That was another moving, deeply interesting ballet talk by Elizabeth Kaye. I wish I could hear her comments and thoughts on every ballet I see. The way she weaves the historical context with the emotional and artistic aspects of the ballet is so valuable. And, yes, I will certainly think of Tchaikovsky when I watch Swan Lake. Thank you ABT for this.

What a brilliant analysis, I am grateful for this concise mini-lecture. I have lost count of the number of times I have thrilled to ABT's production. No other company can match it. Of all the great pairings, the one I hold in my heart is that of Max and Irina.

I’ve seen the PBS broadcast once or twice with Gillian Murphy as Odette/Odile. It was one of my first exposures to classical ballet!

Before Covid, my friends and I would see Swan Lake every spring. It truly is my favorite ballet….so beautiful! I did see Jaffe and Carrera perform and yes, it was thrilling!

"Sparkling and heartrending and eternal.” Elizabeth Kaye tells the story behind the creation of the ballet Swan Lake, and captures the essence of both Tchaikovsky’s score, and the ballet itself in her memorable phrase.

Thank you so much for this series of ballet videos. I am a dedicated ABT follower, and find your videos so informative. I attended Giselle last night and found your video very helpful. As for Swan Lake I can’t count the number of times I’ve seen it including with Makarova, Boylston and my beloved Cynthia Gregory. I will be attending performances next week with Isabella Boylston and Skylar Brandt. CAN NOT WAIT. I never grow tired of the music, the beauty and the artistry.
