Slikour on life, can we please get Zubz his own show where he just breaks down and disect bars.....it can be linked to verse of the month and he can just break down the verse that takes the 1st place. I think it would be dope
I've watched this verse a dozen times now and I can't get sick of it. Stogie T cleaned up the mess Casper and AKA did on Sway in the morning. Shout out Nasty C for starting the clean up campaign. Only if you can get the legend himself to dissect his bars. That'd be awesome. Make it happen Slikour, it wouldn't be that hard for you.
The analytics are crazy on point. For me the mixed messages are the way the world views south africa. They see Trevor as what south Africa is.. But there's so much more.. And The Fela... Line speaks to what most people of color have been marginalized as... Just dancers and entertainers.. Instead of delta which is an oil company in Nigeria... Peep the dichotomy..... Comedian VS Struggle icon.... Musician VS commodity(oil) and that's just from those bars. I can go on
If anyone at Slikour is listening, this is the kind of stuff the culture needs. We need more people like Last letta to school us, so that the new generation can carry on tradition. Hip hop is meant to evolve but the roots should remain intact. Beyond that though, the Slikour team is breaking new ground, congrats and well done fam.
Maaannnn.... This freestyle was super dope from the moment it dropped. None like it. And now Zubz has just made it a 100 times better just by decoding it. I didn't think it'd be possible. Shout out to the greats!!!
Wow!!! I Agree it’s the Best African Freestyle I’ve heard and “ONE” of the Best freestyles Period. Your Breakdown is Blackbelt Level there were things I didn’t catch, 👍🏾👊🏾✌🏾🇳🇬🇺🇸
I agree with you Zubz Stogie T, made me nod off my head especially... on that part where he says "I'm from the real South not the catfish fresh killer Mic, I mean that township real South where blacks go hardship like a roundtrip flight " .
Thanks to Last Letter for disecting unarguably the best ever african freestyle, and arguably top 5 of the greatest ever Sway in the morning freestyle (content-wise).. I don't care what people think, but Stogie T, Zubz and Verb have lines that can leave even the greats in this hip hop craft, behind their bars (if u knw what i mean).. They should think about dropping something as a trio (performance of ur life, sex, drugs and alcohol type), and feature cats like Golden Shovel, Reason, etc).. WE NEED MORE CONSCIOUS STAFF!!! Thanks Slikour
Zubs bro, I missed the fatherhood theme with regards to Mandela, Fella and Trevor. Also that fatherhood theme ties in with the fatherhood (hip hop pioneer) theme that Stogie is highlighting when he talks about "having written above their heads'" he is our guy that we never gave gave the right amount of respect to for what he gave to the hi-hop movement in South Africa.
OK Zubz, I hear you bro and much respect to Stogie T vele-vele I knew he is going to kill it. So moving on I would like to see and hear Zubz, Zeus, Reason just to name few icons of SA
no one in this entire world can be able to break down a verse juss like u brother u the best .....i wish i can reach ur level coz i think im also a lyrical analyst ....now i can understand the song more ..i wish u were breaking it down each line ......2018/12/10.....STOGIE TYCOON OF HIPHOP NO DOUBTS BUT FUNNY THING IS , I WAS SURPRISED WHEN I HEARD THAT FREESTYLE EVEN THO IT WA WHAT I EXPECTED
Word to Slikour for creating a platform where the true fathers of SA hip hop can shine on with their excellence in this era determined to render them obsolete. Dope, educated analysis by one of thee best to ever bless the mic, Last letter. May I suggest that you hit us with a Ready D Mix once in a while to preserve that old school "scratch" djaying skill as well? Peace!
Big upz to the decoding. If all MC's would write like this and be intentional about it, the present would be preserved for future generations. I love an album that is full meaningful content, coherence and reverence to reality rather than just fiction and only imagination of "chicks with three boobs and flying cars". One can have a few songs of imagination to encourage dreaming big, to give hope and a fill good vibe but we also need the educational and restraint side to build a nation.
@@slikouronlife Yes Thought gave him props (deservedly so). Tumi, just like Thought has never been wack; as a matter of knowledge, he's the best MC in Africa ever. But it should be acknowledged that although Thought has been tight through out his career, he now has evolved into a newly discovered MC-form. And Tumi will soon reache that form and most probably surpass it as well. What I'm simply saying is that Tumi is a Jedi, but Thought is 'Thee Ultimate Jedi'. I mean Styles P said that about Thought. Who's gonna argue with Styles P?
I think it’s unfair to say best freestyle of Africa,That shit belongs to the top 10 verses spit on that 🎙 Don’t @me unless you really understand that freestyle 🤝
Well... I really don't need to say much, i Totally agree with Zubz the last letter. As Zubz also one of the highest powerful mcee and he just took his hat off for his caleba...
Can our story teller start reading on the history of Africa so that our stories present relavence and history. We so much content in this continent. From Apartheid, Civil wars or Tribal wars, Blood diamonds, Sex trade, force Marraiges, Different Religion etc... So ma y countries we can draw inspirations from... Our history is bloody but bloody unique....
eish when hip hop still mattered and you needed to think beyond just your paycheck & were part of a movement that made people think not just chicken n jiving.I am with Zubz review here
Come on people , this is not decoding, Zubs did not decode anything here! 12:53 later I still don't understand anything Stogie T said, rather bring the artist to decode their verses themselves.
Yoh my guy, that's a loaded verse. Everything is fire in it, it requires a lot of general knowledge and a bit of reading to catch those verses. 1. They are lukewarm/I'm in true form/38 like Jordan in Utah, killing them with the flu shot- in 1997 during game 5 of the NBA finals, MJ had flu but he still went on and scored 38 points, this also references to the fact that if your temperature is 38 it means you have a fever, you are hot, they are lukewarm, get it? 🤣 2. Fam I'm a Giant amongst ants, like that tyrant from Baghdad /who saying (Hussein) I can't hang on camera- Sadam Hussein, the former president of Iraq was hung live on TV after being found guilty for crimes against humanity. 3. The diary of a mad man who should have been stamped champ but I wrote above their heads like Anne Frank- Stogie has always been a genius lyricist but ddnt get the recognition he deserved, people just ddnt get his music, it flew over their heads. Anne Frank was a Jewish girl who was trapped in an attic during the Nazi war, she wrote a diary while hid up there. Wrote above their head, get it? 🤣 4.Am disliked but I don't give too many fucks, when they set the bar I look back and tell them where it was- niggas in the industry don't like him but he doesn't give a fuck because they are not even in the same league. 5. Sway I put your certified hyenas in elephant graves- if you have watched Lion King you will know what he's talking about. Also, Sway calls the baddest rappers with dope freestyles "Hyenas" so he says that he's gonna bury all the so-called Hyenas that were there before him.
