Troy baker, mads mikkelsen and norman reedus. How'd we get so lucky as to have so many badasses on one project. Props to everyone on the making of this game its absolutely amazing.
3:15 It's so funny to see that Kojima still uses real world objects to direct his scenes. He did the same thing with LEGO when directing the original MGS.
@michael lynch i said "these games" not "this game". I was referring to other games, not just Death Stranding. Nevermind though, you clearly missed my point.
@michael lynch Don't act like a child. Just because you don't like its gameplay doesn't mean it's trash. There are many other people who enjoy the game! I find the Witcher 3 overrated as a game but guess what... Doen't mean it's bad because i say so.
It's not about having or not having to cry. Motion capture and voice acting are both the same thing as normal acting. People don't give these actors enough credit just because they don't physically see them on screen, but the skill that goes into it is exactly the same as traditional acting. Of course the actor will cry during an emotional scene. Not because he has to, but because that's how he feels in that moment.
Honestly kojima brings me to tears. I love his work so much and just can't believe how incredibly talented he is. Just seeing that they're in an empty office imagining his entire idea with just cardboard boxes, paper, etc. truly shows why he's an incredible game designer.
Well I'm sure he had the script but yeah this takes a brilliant mind. Also this is just so DIY, the wooden bike on the tires and people shaking it to simulate the rocky terrain, they could have opted for some mechanical thing but did it like this. I love it.
@@Nohiro.3D it's got plenty of gameplay and boatloads of detail. It's fine to find the gameplay tedious or too slow, but the game's hardly devoid of stuff to do or options for how to do it in different ways.
I always thought Mads Mikkelsen was a good actor, but his performance in this game is on another level. It's haunting and stays with you well after you've played it.
I hate all of the stupid celebs Kojima smacked into this goddamn game BUT Mads Mikkelsen and the DIEhardman guy were money very well spent, they're amazing and sold their performance very well. The rest of the cast is useless, but these two are surprisingly good, MoCap can't be done by everyone, you need to know how to sell your performance with it. I wish he spent the rest of the budget to add more stuff to the gameplay instead on that inexpressive hobo looking Reedus dude.
LadyKraken a lot of hideo kojimas main characters don’t show a lot of emotion look at snake from metal gear. and if you watch an interview of norman reedus he actually is a very lively individual he just really sells his role in this game as the emotionless good guy
@@michaelgriggs7839 Snake is a secret agent trained to be efficient, he's supposed to not show any feelings, and even with that, both Naked Snake and Solid Snake spit one liners like no tomorrow. Sam is just bland and boring, and Reedus doesn't add anything interesting to the mix. How he is irl doesn't mean anything, Emilia Clarke is a very bubbly and funny woman irl, but that doesn't change the fact that she's pure cardboard when acting.
The guy who did Die Hardman actually made me think I was looking at a whole other game with his performances. I mean, sure the other people were great and all, but holy shit it's pretty ironic that they keep him behind a mask for most of the game.
Makes it more special when he’s unmasked and at least the actor gets his likeness seen in the game at all, would’ve been a bummer to be in a huge project like this so much but you remain faceless (even if you’re credited)
I have so much to say about this game but will say only this: it's stayed in my mind after I finished it, I have great feelings and memories from it, and it is a unique piece of art.
@michael lynch Stop acting like a kid during something like 3 or 4 comment replies. I'm pretty sure you haven't played the game to say that. "You keep walking during all the game, it's long and boring". So what about exoskelettons, vehicles and stuff ? What about all community constructions etc ? I'm at the middle of the game and I'm trully enjoying it. For real. Because you're rewarded for your achievements, you start alone, without any helps, trying to step over 2 or 3 rocks with a lot of difficulties with 50 kilos on your back. And after that you got some things which helps you more and more, you've got some cool stuff in this game. But the only thing you're saying is that "Zelda BOTW, Witcher 3, Smash Bros", you're pretending that we're saying that there is no hard work to make these games. Nobody said that. It's a good game, but not for everyone, that's all. And guess what ? I didn't like Witcher 3 and Zelda BOTW as much as I like Death Stranding. And so ? I'm not going under every Witcher 3 and BOTW video to comment that it was shitty games, nope it's not, it's just that I don't like these. Respect people. (Sorry if there is any English mistakes, I'm French)
The moment i finished the game, i felt like i witnessed something special, something important. Hard to put into words. It's clichee by now to call it a masterpiece, but that's what it is.
Death Stranding, I truly believe this one of the greatest video games stories ever told. Ever fucking told. We all have played some great video games in our time, but Death Stranding, there’s no video game out there like it. There’s not a single story even similar to it. Kojima is a beautiful game developer. He even said: “I wanna create a game and cast all my friends and tell a story that nobody has heard before.” And he did exactly that. Most Bridges staff members from the game, the holograms, they are Kojima friends in real life. I’m so excited for the sequel. DS2.
They really worked on this like so into the details. Random thought but I like that when Norman noticed the guys were having trouble trying to keep the wooden motorcycle steady so they could drill that he immediately went to help em with their job trying to help keep it still for them. That made him seem more like a grounded and considerate guy. And for a guy thats a really famous actor with a huuuge following. Because a lot of staff and crew etc that work with famous people have experiences with some famous musicians, host(or tv, media personality) and actors treating them like well shit because their fame went to their head and so are terrible divas with huge egos. Or maybe just my own opinion and reading into his actions too much. But Norman always seemed like a nice guy like really great to his fans and to the staff working on the walking dead
I'm gonna be honest. I've never seen the gaming community so divisive on a game before. There's no middle ground for it. It's either you love it or hate it. I, for one, love the game. Probably one of the best single player game I've played in the past 10 years. True, the gameplay might not be for everyone. But it serves it's purpose perfectly. It's not supposed to be an action game. He said that a few years ago. It's more about the "rope" than it is the "stick". And I love that. It's very refreshing to have a game like this. With so much deeper meaning behind it's already deep, rich narrative. And look at all the hard work put into it. The phenomenal performances from the actors, both with mocap and voiceover work. The incredible direction and world built by Kojima. The amazing soundtrack. Everything about this game is insane. And think. This was only in production for, what, 3 years I think? That's pretty damn impressive. People really need to look past the "Walking Simulator" reviews and actually play it. You'd be surprised at how good the game actually is. But again, this is my opinion. And everyone is entitled to their own. I'd never hate on someone for that. But as it stands, this is one of my all time favorite games. Hands down. And my apologies for the long paragraph.
I'm the type of gamer that doesn't normally complete the game. I tend to play for a few hours and then get bored and move on to the next. I put in 70+ hours and not only completed it but was actually kind of ...I hesitate to say sad...but I didn't want the game to end. Watching this has made me want to go back and play again. What. A. Game!
I really love watching behind the scenes of video games that requires motion capture. It really brings out all the hard work and effort that had been put into this
The DieHardman scene at the end when he cries is one of the most incredible scenes I've ever seen in a video game. He was also the most realistic character model
I was really shook from it too I wanted to show my family because that acting came from the soul & up until that point I felt no emotional connection to his character until that scene. He really brought it to life & now I feel so 'connected' to each one of them. The whole game was honestly such a spiritual experience.
unlikely, he left konami because they wouldnt let him do more work on mg since they wanted to release it immediately and didnt want there to be anymore games lmao. he planned for there to be much more content and several more games.
Motion capture is used for movies as well but tbh they’re probably not doing that because if you go on movies alone Andy Serkis would just win every year
This is truly a sight to behold. I fricking love seeing all the gloss and glamour of the finished product stripped away, and seeing it being devised in it's most humble beginnings. Thank you for uploading this, I'll cherish this for ever! X
Tommie literally tears flowing during a mo-cap. Amazing. That scene of his is the best motion capture ive ever seen in a game. Guerrilla Games has their work cut out for them topping this using their own engine. Horizon mo-cap was good for the major players but nowhere near this.
Generally the mocap was slightly worse in HZD because RPG games have to use a system where an AI picks out specific animations to match the dialogue that the player chose, but then in cutscenes HZD showed that its facial mocap was still incredible, and also HZD came out two years before death stranding did so in that time there'd be obvious improvements on the engine in both studio's as they often communicate with eachother
@@sociallyineptspider-man2366 The Witcher 3 came 2 years prior, and it's also and RPG and got far better mocap than HZD. HZD feels a bit rushed in that aspect to be honest, the characters all look kinda robotic and their shading is a bit messed up too, the characters look like they're from plastic when it's raining for example, i played Death Stranding before HDZ and man the transition was brutal
@@yukarihideki3805 naw. Nolan needs to stay away from Kojima. Nolan's mind itself is so freaking out of this world. Between the both of them, Nolan's work has impressed me more than Kojima's. Kojima still has a lot to prove as a director/video game creator. Death Stranding fell short of expectation.
Kirk Son I’m only around the middle in chapter 8 and already 110 in game. Also I’m not rushing because there’s no decent games to play at all, and Last Of Us 2 will be after 5 monts. So I’m going deep in DS.
Wait for the chapter 3/5 The chapters 1-2-3 are all tutorial, more forward the real game will open. Even i was bored at the beginning, but then i really enjoy this fantastic game. Trust me, all the people that play this game think like me: wait for chapter 3/5. NEVER JUDGE A GAME FOR THE FIRST HOURS, BUT AT THE END. Only two worlds: Amazing Story. I don't say more, no spoiler. Ps. Sorry for the grammar, i am not english
michael lynch by what criteria are you comparing the gameplay of those games? They are fundamentally different, so you can’t say "popular game 1 better than popular game 2, because better". It’s like saying that Dota Underlords gameplay is better than Mortal Kombat. If you would have said story wise, then I could definitely agree, but just this comment is sheer absurdity
This game truly is a masterpiece, I might be a little late to the hype but I still adored playing it. The acting and music are just wonderful and made me cry more than twice. It's truly a game that I will never forget. 👍
Absolutely loved this. The immersive experience it brought. A awesome real world feel. With beautiful scenery. Thank you for the creation of such a wonderful game. 😊
make sure to do it in the highest difficulty to unlock the additional trophy. I did in normal mode only to find out I had another trophy to unlock lol. Anyway, I was up for the challenge! MOAR DELIVERIES!
120 hours, built all the roads and reached chapter 8, still have to 5 satr preppers and find those hidden preppers, PS fuck Peter Englert and his pizza xD
@@yogeshkandare3214 his pizza.... God by the time I got to that last pizza I wanted to scream. It’s only because I set up a zip line system that took me all around the mountains that it was bearable.
All the people saying "walking simulator" have A: not played the game at all, or B: stopped before chapter 3. ya'll are some effin clowns, you don't know what you're missing.
Even after watching a whole play through of DS I couldn't wait to get my hands on it. I'm now led to believe that this game is actually for everyone expect those who don't play games for what they are.
I played it a bit at a friend's house and watched some gameplay, about half of chapter 3. To that point, it is indeed a walking simulator. And first impressions do matter to be honest. If a game adds some pretty intresting mechanics too late people might get bored to that point. That's my oponion.
Started this game this week on Pc.. And omg, what an immersive experience.. And really far out there story wise, incredible performance by the actors too.. And those graphics.. . Let's just say it looks breathtaking.
At first, I thought this game was bad. I didn’t play it but watched Jackscepticeye play it and it was so good. I cried in the end after finding out the truths and how some characters were actually good 😢
that black dude was actually crying during the scene... Wow, much respect for that craft. This game was so visceral because of guys like him. Amazing content
I finished the game last night, and all cutscenes, all caracter, all gameplays is very very, incredible, this game is really fantastic, unfortully, is not a game for every gamer, only special gamers, can handle and understand this epic new game from Kojima!! Thanks for all and hugs from Brazil.
Quien imaginaria que hicieran los juegos con tanto esfuerzo.... Respeto a todos los trabajadores de vídeo juegos que se esfuerzan por hacerlo demasiado bien
The fact that the got Norman Reedus to play a main character in a game is awesome. It's cool to see Daryl in a game. But imagine if they actually named him Daryl in the game itself. But we all know Kojimas work is perfection. As he always did with the Metal Gear Solid franchise.
