Fascinating. So well presented. I love seeing the sites themselves. Excellent job. Thank you.

Excellent presentation. Understanding the many complexities of Monticello is a very worthy endeavor. But always underneath there's this sense of Jefferson's unassailable mind presiding over an unjust system. At least your work brings back the human dimension of it.

Very informative and interesting-thank-you. I like that you let the people doing the work do the talking. I think they can genuinely convey their passion for the field and their findings. I wish I could have seen the Native American artifact a little better.

I agree, but sorry to hear all the young women speaking with "up talk" it makes them sound very unprofessional. So sorry this isn't corrected throughout the school system in the US.

Very informative. Wish the camera person would have zoomed in on the Native American artifact. I think she said it would have been used as an ax.

From Google satellite images of Monticello, it looks like there may be archaeology being conducted north of the West Lawn near the house? Does anyone know?

Not many native artifacts? Jefferson conducted a dig on a Native American burial mound near his home at Monticello. So that means there was a village there and would have been many items.
@sophierobinson2738
@sophierobinson2738 3 года назад
Jefferson would have kept any native artifacts. These were slave cabins, their things would have either been handed down from the big house, or made themselves or traded/sold.

Weird to refer to Mr. Jefferson as "Jefferson". Not tradition.

Anyone KNOW how well, or badly, Jefferson treated those poor slaves? We know how long he committed adultery with a female slave. Sorry, her name evades me.. Just curious!

I found it interesting that the main house paid slaves for items they raised.

I notice that some of the people involved in the work are wearing masks. Unless this has something to do with the preservation of artifacts fine, otherwise I'm displeased to see them wearing masks in the outdoors where there is fresh air to breath. My hope is that this is not a requirement.

Wearing the mast is a symbol of a person’s solidarity with a belief system - similar to those who wear a cross.
