Welcome back to Château de Puy Vidal!
This is it! The long-awaited September Creative Retreat is finally upon us! We have guests arrive at the Chateau from all over the world- from England to Los Angeles, to Hawaii to Australia, to gather together in a community of like-minded creatives. We work up until the very last minute before they walk through the door, ensuring that every last detail is full of love. We are blown away from start to finish by the generosity, courage and open hearts of every single one of these people, and the magic that the group creates together. We hope you enjoy this glimpse into what we hope becomes our future here at Chateau de Puy Vidal.

These are the adventures of Julia, her partner Carolina, her sister Penelope, and her parents Maruca and Robert, an American family taking a leap of faith and living out a long-awaited dream of moving to the French countryside.
Château de Puy Vidal is a medieval fortress turned renaissance Castle and is located in the Charente region of Nouvelle Aquitaine, France. This channel is dedicated to our love of chateaux, old stones, magic, family and history. We share with you our life at Puy Vidal. What happens when your dreams come true?

it’s interesting how you see the Lady of the chateau as a separate entity! as though you are serving’ or not deserving, of the role .. with such a wonderful array of beauty that you all hold, would have liked to see that manifested more, than emulating another.. for me the painting of her ladyship😊 revealed a different persona than that which is normally portrayed.. very interesting considering all the other images painted are pretty accurate physically and this painting was of another dimension.. would be interested to know why from the artist!❤

Thank you for you beautiful words, villacostabrava, they touched my heart! Let me explain our thoughts… The Lady of the Chateau is and will always be ephemeral yet concrete an Iconic figure. She, like the Statue of Liberty she is no one women she is us all at best. Her attributes are beauty, intelligence, resourcefulness, grace and generosity, she is a feminine is bacon of light and inspiration. Each person will find inspiration in qualities we most admire and hope to see manifested. We are very lucky when we find one person that captures those attributes. The Lady of the Chateau is no one person nor entity, she is our reservoir of hope and inspiration. But it will be capture here and there in form from time to time before it dissolves again into luminous glow. Maruca

I got to watch this on my big screen as opposed to my phone and how devine ...those students who were taught to paint by Joanna were in what I would describe as a magical location, Puy Vidal has that about it and these students were able to capture still life in this magical place. ONE of my favourite places at the chateau is the maze, so to see the students all in there as well was amazing to see, I feel that anywhere at your chateau would be inspiring for any artist. The night time dinners look so yummy, I am so proud of all of you, such a hard working team. I just know that these workshops will only get bigger in popularity, plus how could anyone not want to stay in The chateau Puy Vidal, plus be treated by your hospitality. I would love to see a photography workshop? As it would have so many places to get amazing photos plus get some models to dress up in period dress of an era when the chateau was at its prime. Even a writers workshop would work well at the chateau for it is a place away from the rat race where writers could get inspired and sit in their own areas of the gardens or chateau to do some of their exercises as set out by their Teacher. I still think there should be some HIGH TEA mornings at Puy Vidal on a Saturday and Sunday when you are not busy with workshops. The gardens would be perfect after for games like croquet

Maruca should have been the subject of the portrait …..she is indeed the ‘ Lady of the chateau ‘ in every sense . Her quiet elegance, beauty , strength, intelligence, talents and warmth are qualities she exudes in every frame . No ego , pomp , fuss ….just hard work, constancy and authenticity . Qualities she has passed on to Julia ,Penelope and Carolina by osmosis & whose respect & love for her is very evident . Ladies of the Chateau (Julia, Carolina, Maruca, and of course Penelope), and the Lord of the Chateau Rober't I can't tell you how many times I started to watch this one today, (and what a nice surprise so soon after your last one), but I found my self tearing up so I would take a break, and it didn't work because the tears kept coming, so I went ahead and made it thru, I just wanted you to know that I felt all the months and hours of sweat, muscle aches and days that just don't end, because you see another quick task to accomplish before turning in, and seeing all that you accomplished, and knowing the pride and satisfaction of it , I felt like I was sharing in that with you, and thank-you ... The workshop looked amazing , the chateau just beautiful , the guest's all looking happy, and relaxed so Bravo, I hope that you have a wonderful relaxing and fun time in the U.K stay safe and thank-you again for sharing,

So charming and entertaining…and FUN! I envy you all your nice weather - I have been trying to run a Plein Air painting class, here in Massachusetts, but have been plagued by a series of tumultuous thunder and lightning storms, and an impending hurricane, which may, or may not hit us. The weather has been particularly perfidious; we canceled the very first class because we had been having a hail storm and flooding, but after we went ahead and canceled, it cleared up and was GORGEOUS during the hours in which the class would have taken place, only to resume raining right after! Now we sit and wait for the hurricane… Good luck on all your endeavors!❤

Lovely, everything that I envisioned of how life would be at the South of France (after my trip in my 30's) , dream may come true at least for a few days. Looking at the workshop guests and their skills. I have to get going since I never actually painted before on an easel . Fingers crossed it will happen.

That Furniture was a perfect marriage of furniture we bought from the previous owners, our furniture from California home but many originally from dance and new small pieces we have bought recently

Magical is the perfect word. I know you said you were not a fan of the green in the bedroom at the beginning of the video, but that room turned out pretty good. I really like the wallpaper. 😄
