The Behringer RD-8 is a fully analog drum machine based on the classic Roland TR-808. It allows you to create diverse rhythms and drum beats and features 16 classic drum sounds including: kick, snare, toms, congas, claps, clave, rimshot, maracas, cowbell, cymbal, open and closed hihats.
The Behringer RD 8 has a 64-step sequencer, a versatile Wave Designer and dual-mode 12-db LPF/HPF Filter with resonance, which enables you to further shape your sounds. It also has a modern workflow to provide enhanced playability which helps you create versatile live performances.
The Behringer RD8's drum sequencer supports poly-meter, step-repeat, note-repeat, real-time triggering, track-mute and track-solo functions, allowing you to craft varied and creative drum rhythms as you go. In addition, the Pattern Mode supports arrangement of patterns into full songs and setting number of repeats per song part, while Song Mode allows chaining of songs together for live sets and expanded compositions.
The Behringer RD 8 has control for tempo, swing, probability, flams, per-step filter editing, randomization per instrument, step length, accents, attack and sustain transients, auto fills, and much more. In addition, there is live recording, editing and playback of Analog Filter cutoff via automation which allows you to create new tones as part of your beats.
The Behringer RD-8 rhythm designer also features comprehensive MIDI In/Out/Thru and USB implementation for synchronization and connection to external devices, as well as independent analog outputs per instrument for external sound processing or recording of your rhythms as multi-track audio.
The RD-8 has 29 knobs, 5 switches and 59 buttons. Input and output connections include: Phones; Mono audio; MIDI In, Out and Thru over USB and 5 pin MIDI ports; 11 independent analog outputs; 3 trigger outs. The Behringer RD 8 supports storage of up to 16 songs and 256 patterns, all of which can be imported/exported for unlimited songs and patterns.
This is my first analog drum machine and I have been having a ton of fun with it. The kick drum sound fat, the hi hats sizzle, and the snare and claps crack. Overall I am very impressed with the Behringer RD8 as it is a very accessible, versatile and immediate drum machine to start making beats with. Looking forward to exploring it further and sharing more jams in the future.
