Wow, this is so wonderful. I am a born Guyanese (South American), relocated to NY and grew up there, then moved to Atlanta i 1992. I am now building my connection with the Ghana Association of Georgia, and will be at Ghana Day this Saturday 8/14, invited by an official of the Ghana Association. I was at the Ghana Independence Gala in 2018 and 2019 prior to the lock down in 2020. It is amazing to hear her story. Also ironic, I am currently working with Operation HOPE, leveraging their members for workshop facilitation and guidance. I am not employed by the organization, but more of a collaborative initiative.

Maybe in the 80's or 90's but I believe the narrative has changed recently, with Black Panther as silly as it seems being a watershed moment. While we are still getting to know each other like long lost cousins, and have some internal minor differences, I believe finally Africans and the diaspora are getting better at telling their own stories and knowing each other.

I was just weeping about this the other day. It became so overwhelming. Especially for Black Women, we face so much evil here in America. I would love to relocate to Lagos, Accra even Nairobi but my family and those obligations tie me down. This is why I am teaching my children now to prepare because there will come a day where living here in America will just become unlovable due to the expense and terror. We must prepare our children now so they can make the change and come home. And part of that is encouraging our kids to marry African and build lives in Africa. I am a Black American but I KNOW most of my ancestry, and my Fathers side is mostly Yoruba with ties all over Africa. I have more love for my Africa, than this "shit hole" called America. It's why I cook both Nigerian and Ghanaian style food and have my babies get a taste for the food, and be comfortable with the culture. All I know is I want to return and I want my family to continue in a place where they will be accepted and not hinder them because thier skin is brown.

Well done girl your story shows that when Black people start linking up as one people helping and nurturing one another to move Africa forward. You need self confidence first of all to accept who you are. Do your research and you will find out the brainwash you have been subjected to and all the lies about Africa. Visit and see Africa and experience the shock of a different culture of love and friendship and family. I am not saying you will not have challenges but you soon learn to adapt and fit in. The the plunge and try you may find out it is the best decision you have ever made. You you certainly experience friendship, pleasant weather natural, wholesome good food and less stress but plan well, be adaptable and willing to persevere. God bless you young lady, keep up the job of mentoring others who are still not sure of accepting their Africanness. Let's hope it will not be too late for them.

YES THIS IS VERY TRUE!!! & some of the reasons for these stereotypes are VALID even though said @ times out of racist mouths which is why I'm going to shed some light on what we're up against 🤨 since I've been living in Ghana for 5 years now ladies please BE MINDFUL BECAUSE AS AMERICANS MY DARLINGS WE ARE TARGET'S because what we come here not understanding is the level poverty of in the country in general & that many of them are looking to be able to partake in some of the same things that we've been able to utilize things such as owning a car some day & being able to live in a nice place if they want to in communities where ARMED ROBERIES AREN'T RAMPANT these are the things they yearn for & NO THEY DON'T HAVE SECTION 8 HOUSING ASSISTANCE HERE where as where we're from we take these sort of things for granted anyway WE'RE TARGETS SIMPLY PUT 🤨because they to want to know what it feels like to experience all those same things I mean have you ever seen just how THEY MARKET AMERICA ON TV it's being sold as the land of good & plenty showing off all the bling the charm & the riches & they've been getting programed with this phoney perception since they were children in fact I HAVE PROOF OF IT & this is why THEY FLOCKING IN THERE & most women there ARE ONLY CHOSE BECAUSE THEIR AMERICAN NOTHING MORE but the lies & the deception is so deep until often times IT'S MISSED but they are not hurting for women trust that they have that in these AREAS & they be leaving GOOD ONE'S @ THAT so yeah they gone come over USE A FEW UP trying to get that money to care for those back home the one's you probably don't know about because you don't frequent the continent like that... Anyway I got a show on it since I'm undergoing a DIVORCE RIGHT NOW PLEASE PROTECT YOUR HEARTS BELOVED'S BECAUSE USERY IS REAL!!! 🤨... ✊🏽
