56 years and I have yet to see a Baptist church that will touch prophecy with a stick. There's no class to take people through the whole bible, because they don't believe the whole bible.. -no predestination -Jesus didn't descend into hell - the 3 heavens are some weird skyscraper - 2Thess 2 - salvation without "hearing" John 8:47 - magic words and a bath over 2Tim 3:15 - individual personal judgement day upon death "uncle Billy busted hell wide open" - that God doesn't destroy souls in hell, but heaven is a place of screaming and eternal human barbecue - That faith without works is not dead but rather "saved" (believe only) - 3 distinct Advents at 3 different times - that faith can be had without understanding (hearing) - That God hears everybody's prayer.Micah 3:4 Prov 38:9 Isa 59:1-2 - that God loves everybody. Ps 139:21 Amos 9:8 2Thess 2:10-11 - That it's God's house, but somehow they choose who is welcome or not based on kowtowing, not biblical accuracy. - and on and on and on... this is just on the surface

Yeah maybe for some churches, our average time getting out Sunday mornings is around 12:45 one thing our pastor says alot is that it's not the Lords hour it's the Lords day and we didn't come to get out, we came to get in. And no our church doesn't get out early for football games either that's the least of our worries. It's hard to worship the Lord if all you have on your mind is sports.

I believe that the King James Version of the Bible is the perfectly preserved version of the Bible in English. I don't believe that randomly, it goes down to the manuscripts used and the translators. The King James Version was translated from a set of Greek manuscripts called the Textus Receptus (or Recieved Text) Other translation take away verses about core doctrines such as the Trinity as outlined in 1 John 5:6-8 and many other doctrines. The translators also were not only scholars of the Hebrew and Greek but they were native speakers. Many modern "translations" aren't real translations. They are just revisions of previous English translations. The single translator of The Living Bible did not know Hebrew or Greek AT ALL. And the famed English Standard Version isn't a real translation at all, it's just a revision of previous translation like the RSV with man's thoughts added in. The KJV is also the only Public Domain translation of the English Bible. This means that anyone can use I and nobody makes money off of it. The ESV is owned by Crossway, the NIV by Zondervan, and the NKJV by Nelson. The owners and proprietors make millions of dollars every year off of selling the Bible. It's not about vain tradition or personal preference, there are real historical, theological, and Biblical reasons why people use the KJV whether you agree with it or not. It's dishonest to go around calling people "supremacists" without understanding why they believe what they believe. I think the main this for you to do is to read and compare versions. Look at the KJV And don't take my word for anything, study it out for yourself Heavenly blessings❤

This is what is officially taught but if you try to go up in there and change something and you cite the Bible it won’t be received well. Any religious group you go to there are always written and unwritten traditions and there’s nothing wrong with that. Like the holy rollers jump up and down and jibber jabber in tongues, the baptist say amen and clap, and the Methodist don’t do either one. Now each of them claims to follow the Bible. I went to the baptist a lot as a teenager and they encouraged me to read the King James scripture now I don’t believe like them anymore but I am ever thankful for the time I was there they are a great group of people 🙏🏻

My Mom and Dad's old church I used to visit, when I would stay with Grandma and Grandpa, and noticed that they did not clap after a special musical performance. They did not approve of it. That is wrong. “Nor scrip for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor yet staves: for the workman is worthy of his meat.” Matthew 10:10, KJV.

It depends on what you mean by "Baptist", most American Christians are Baptist, believing in the infallible Bible and believers baptism and the symbolic communion. Some baptists, usually calling themselves "fundamental" or "independent" pretend the the KJV is the best version, or the "only version". They are wrong. Some baptists are Cessationist, they believe the spiritual gifts don't exist anymore, they're wrong. Some believe in universal predestination, usually calling themselves primitive Baptist, they too are wrong.

For the Bible Alone to be correct, that would mean that belief would have to be found in the Bible. It isn’t. In fact, the complete opposite is in the Bible: stand firm and hold to the traditions which you were taught by us, either by word of mouth or by letter” (2 Thess. 2:15). Christ did not leave us a Bible. He left us a church. The Bible came from the Catholic Church in the 4th century.

Therefore, brethren, stand fast and hold the traditions which you were taught, whether by word or our epistle. - 2 Thessalonians 2:15 Hence it is manifest, that they did not deliver all things by Epistle, but many things also unwritten, and in like manner both the one and the other are worthy of credit. Therefore let us think the tradition of the Church also worthy of credit. It is a tradition, seek no farther. Here he shows that there were many who were shaken. - John Chrysostom AD 407 Can you explain this? Apostolic Canons ca. 1st cent. If any bishop or presbyter does not perform the one initiation with three immersions, but with giving one immersion only, into the death of the Lord, let him be deposed. For the Lord said not, Baptize into my death, but, “Go, make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.” (Canon 50) The Didache ca. 70-120 And concerning baptism, baptize this way: Having first said all these things, baptize into the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, in living water. But if you have no living water, baptize into other water; and if you cannot do so in cold water, do so in warm. But if you have neither, pour out water three times upon the head into the name of Father and Son and Holy Spirit. (Chapter 7) Tertullian ca. 160-220 After His resurrection He promises in a pledge to His disciples that He will send them the promise of His Father; Lk. 24:49 and lastly, He commands them to baptize into the Father and the Son and the Holy Ghost, not into a unipersonal God. And indeed it is not once only, but three times, that we are immersed into the Three Persons, at each several mention of Their names. (Against Praxeas 26) St. Cyril of Jerusalem ca. 313-386 …[Y]ou were led to the holy pool of Divine Baptism, as Christ was carried from the Cross to the Sepulchre which is before our eyes. And each of you was asked, whether he believed in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, and you made that saving confession, and descended three times into the water, and ascended again; here also hinting by a symbol at the three days burial of Christ. For as our Saviour passed three days and three nights in the heart of the earth, so you also in your first ascent out of the water, represented the first day of Christ in the earth, and by your descent, the night; for as he who is in the night, no longer sees, but he who is in the day, remains in the light, so in the descent, as in the night, you saw nothing, but in ascending again you were as in the day. And at the self-same moment you were both dying and being born; and that Water of salvation was at once your grave and your mother. (Catechetical Lecture 20: On the Mysteries 2.4) Why did God allow the Orthodox Church too decide the Canon? Why is it the Bible alone when Holy tradition is said too be kept by the Apostles? Where is the Eucharist? Saint Polycarp and Saint Ignatius both speak on this… Both disciples of Saint John who wrote Revelation and John 1,2,3. Why follow his writings but not his teachings on the Church?

I believe you will find that the early Christians collected the writings God intended for scripture, and that became the Bible. Other writings of Paul or others were fine and good, maybe, but were not God-breathed. Not inspired. Only scripture was, and the canon was established early on. @@colinpope368

@@colinpope368the fact of the matter is that the books which became the Bible we're already circulating and accepted as scripture prior to any council, it was not the Catholic Church which assembled the bible, all they did was make it "official", regardless of the fact that all these books were already being used by churches. The only New testament books which were debated were ones that did not exist, such as the Gnostic Gospels. The Old testament books are still debated today, such as the newest ones (Maccabees, enoch etc.) even Esther was up for debate, so the Ethiopians took pretty much every OT book, the Catholics took some of the apocrypha, and the christians took the fewest books, just to be safe.

@@colinpope368The new testament is only comprised of books penned by the apostles that were with Jesus as he lived and thouse vouched for by said apostles. @@jacobrodriguez7771 I’m not a part of any church anymore. I came here because I’ve been interested in the way Baptists do things. Quite honestly a friend of mine who is Catholic is how I was motivated into doing my research on baptists. I feel that all authority should come from the Bible because it’s the inspired word of God. We can listen to leaders but where the line is drawn is when they make a name for themselves. Jesus wanted “Rabbis” (teachers) not someone who says it’s my way or the highway, especially people don’t apply Bible principles or bend the rules… Jesus also warns us of people like that. It’s why I still find it hard to even attend any denomination. Because most if not all do this some way or another. But I’m searching for one where I can be comfortable. @@WideAngleLuis I backed out of becoming Catholic when I was supposed to too, it took a couple more years before I finally came into the Church. I think if you read the entire New Testament, in full context, its pretty clear that Jesus started an actual human institution, with real authority which he wants us to be a part of. I understand that that explanation alone leaves the door open for Protestantism or orthodoxy, fair enough. But Christianity is never presented as primarily an individual relationship thing, its always communal. The phrases "personal relationship with Jesus" or "accept Jesus as your personal Lord and savior" (which are central to evangelical Protestantism) are not found anywhere in the entire Bible.

@@SomeGuy-rn9cg Not all churches believes in the trinity but to be honest most that don't accept the trinity are even worse than the Southern Baptist church. My perfered would be seven day advent or church of christ. Which both are trinitarian. I have a small group of friends that study and get together in worship. If you are wanting to know the truth I would really suggest comparing bible translation, but be careful most any more are biased towards the trinity. I prefer the King James. I use bible hud a lot. Try searching John 1:1 then verse 2. Most translation of verse 2 begins with "He" of course the He is referring to Jesus. Issue is the truth. Should that be he or not. That is complicated to get a non- biased understanding of this. Issue is obviously if "he" is correct then person is established. The trinity would have some sort of argument. The King James Bible uses "the same was in the beginning with God". Not establishing person yet. For good reason. I am not that good at explaining the reasons with pronouns and what is being talked about. I prefer straight to the point. John 1:1 Look up the meaning of Logos. That is the ancient Greek word that Word was translated from. You will easily see what Logos meant. Issue is you will also get what it became which complicates the search. You want to know what Logos meant before it became flesh. With that this will be easier. You will easily find Logos to mean divine reason. It can also mean: thought, idea, logic, wisdom, and my choice is plan. Therefore if you translation John 1:1 In the beginning was the plan the plan was with God the plan was God. It doesn't change the meaning not even a little. It remains exactly the same. But also makes better sense. Trinitarian and I was taught that Logos was a person with God. Issues with this is Logos had never been translated or understood as person before the Logos became fresh in John 1:14. From then on but not before. God alone had a plan from before the foundation of the world. The tells us that the lamb slain before the foundation of the world. Was the plan. Jesus was the fulfillment of that plan. The question will be is Jesus a person that was with God. If so that will need to be shown. Because I was raised Trinitarian I know that is not possible. It has to be accepted as a mystery. It not so complicated. Read the account of the burning bush. Moses is told to tell them I AM THAT I AM. Which if you look up the meaning of this it means. I will become what I will become. I choose to be what I choose to be. The I is a true singular one. If God can choose to be what God chooses to be would this also mean God can choose to be three? That is the simple explanation. Jesus is God manifest in the flesh. Not some person with God. If you have not heard the trinity is not negotiable. If you don't believe in what can't be proven then you really aren't a Christian? Go figure. I hope you study the scriptures and hold on to what is true. Don't just believe what I or someone else tells you. Listen, holier than thou, a “Baptist” simply believes that baptism is by immersion for believers only, which is exactly the scriptural position we adopt, therefore we are BAPTIST. Don’t make simple things complicated. Anyone reading the preserved word of God (KJV in English) will come to the conclusion that the faithful Christian’s (anabaptists) have had since the time of the apostles. Accepting Christ as Savior. You can die immediately after doing so and you will be saved. If you live, you're commanded to do many things, such as baptism, communion, not abandoning the gathering (going to church) etc. But yes, according to the scriptures, placing your faith in Christ, accepting Him as your Savior, is the requirement. No work involved, but once you're saved there are things you're commanded to do.
@dctalk4641
@dctalk4641 2 месяца назад
@@SeanWinters Nowhere in the Bible does it tell us to accept Christ as your saviour and you will be saved if it did then why didn't you provide the passage that says so. In fact If this were true, King Agrippa would be a Christian, but even Agrippa knew better than that. Acts 26:27-28 "King Agrippa, do you believe the prophets? I know that you do believe." Then Agrippa said to Paul, "You almost persuade me to become a Christian." Even Agrippa knew, just believing didn't make him a Christian.

@@SeanWinters Many people claim to have faith, but do not serve God. Some say they are not churchgoers, but they still have their faith. James 2:14 says “What use is it my brethren, if a man says he has faith, but he has no works? Can that faith save him?” This is a rhetorical question, because obviously the message is clear that unless he has works, his faith is dead." James 2:17 says that “Even so faith if it has no works, is dead being by itself” Faith must be accompanied by works in order to be an active living faith. A lot of people do not demonstrate any indicators that they have faith in God, even though they claim to have a “personal relationship” with Him. That is nothing more than a cop-out. Unless one is actively and diligently seeking to please God, they have no faith. Read Hebrews 11:6. James 2:20 says that faith without works is useless. I John also teaches that if we are claiming to be in fellowship with God, but do not practice the truth, we are liars. James 2:22 reads: “you see that faith was working with his works, and as a result of the works, faith was perfected.” Faith is made complete which is what the meaning of "perfect" is in the Scriptures. In Hebrews 11 we have many examples of people of faith. One thing in common with all of them is they were accounted faithful by what they did, not by what they believed. James 2:24 reads: "You see that a man is justified by works, and not by faith alone." James 2:26 reads in part: “… so also faith without works is dead.” Claiming to be faithful to God is just a waste of words unless you have the works to back up that claim. In our contemporary language, we can say “put up or shut up”. James 2:18 reads in part: “… show me your faith without the works, and I will show you my faith by my works.” Many people claim to have faith in God, but their actions do not reflect a faith at all. Titus 1:16 hopefully will strike a chord here: “They profess to know God, but by their deeds they deny Him.” Our faith is demonstrated by works. These works are given to us to do from God. Ephesians 2:10 “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them."

Not necessarily, you seem to misunderstand. If you believe in believers baptism, odds are you are a Baptist. The question of charismatism is not vs baptists, most charismatics are in fact Baptist as well. Sometimes charismatics pretend that those who disagree with them are baptists, but the reality is those who disagree with them are called cessationists. Some Baptists are cessationist, but many are not, many Baptists are charismatic, and pretty much every charismatic is Baptist. So again, you are probably Baptist yourself, you just are not cessationist, you believe that the gifts of the Spirit still exist, much like many Baptists. Nobody is "saved" until they "remain faithful to the end" That means finding the narrow path Amos 8:11-12 and not getting tricked by fakes 1John 4:1 and getting your crown of life taken away Rev 3:11 The Seal of God is necessary or the fallen angels of Rev 6:13 & 9:5 will get you

You are incorrectly referring to the Council of Nicaea, but it is not correct to claim that they canonized anything there, for they did not. At best you can argue that they confirmed what already had long existed, because some were challenging the Bible. But Christians had already had the Bible.

When Paul said that to Timothy, the only scriptures were the "Old" Testament or the Torah as they would have known it as. But I know from having been a Baptist they're your very fond of changing (7th day sabbath) or red-lining much of that as "done away with." Here's a question, Baptists: How come John the Baptist managed to survive Herod's thugs coming to kill all the small children, but Jesus and Co were told to leave out alone over the Palestinian frontier (which you never did alone because of robbers and the desert environment) to land in a country who had every valid reason to hate Jews and would have still be gunning for them at that point? But John at only 6 months older seemed to have no problem making it to adulthood.
@FBCROY
@FBCROY Год назад
When God said that to Timothy through Paul he meant what he said “all scripture” which includes Paul’s epistles. “If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord.” ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭14‬:‭37‬ ‭ “And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.” ‭‭2 Peter‬ ‭3‬:‭15‬-‭16‬ ‭

Wait, Are you sure?, baptist trace back their history to the 1st century with John the Baptist and his baptist disciples preparing the way of the Lord. They were the first organized group tasked with the great commission. This was before the cross and Resurrection, before Jesus was even baptized, they were already spreading the gospel and baptizing people when Jesus came to baptized. When Jesus and the disciples went to certain towns and cities, the town's people knew they were coming because the baptist disciples had already been there and told the town's people that Jesus coming. As far as church history goes. You can't get anymore historically biblically accurate than that. And all of what I said is directly in scripture. Catholics and orthodox traditions claiming to be first is false, Paul established churches all across Asia Minor, we have biblical proof that churches were founded and flourishing long before Catholicism and orthodox was even a thought in someone's mind. Again, all of that is biblical history. So which church history are you referring to exactly? Because like the gentlemen said, it's founded in the Bible, or nothing.

The New Testament was delivered orally for the first 2-300 years of Christianity. So I had to do workers who were known to memorize it and deliver it orally, to their congregations most of whom illiterate. These early workers, some of them were clerics, and took it upon themselves to hand, write copies of the stories which were sent to cathedrals, and eventually, Paris, churches, until finally, the printing press was introduced. The early Christians would’ve found it very difficult to just rely on the Bible. They needed the body of Christ/the organization of the early church to receive the word. They would’ve been at the creek without the organization of believers, the body of Christ. I find your position fallible.
