Being Harried

The People's Court

The plaintiff, a hair salon owner, alleges the defendant bought the building she used and jacked up the rent. The plaintiff refused to sign a new lease and claims the defendant didn’t return the security deposit, so the plaintiff is suing. The defendant argues that the plaintiff left without notice, and he doesn’t owe her a dime.

No, its basic lawyer 101 stuff to get a certified letter for that type of comms, and the landlord cashed the $2300, which has effect in law as type of acceptance of the $2300 as the rent where theres a dispute of what the contract is. Lawyers are held to higher degree of proof, hence why JM had a go at the son over his actions of not providing a a certified record, and she didn't believe him.

Calling a new landlord for something you've seen all the time you been there is wild. Rent was paid cheaper cause your old landlord was a slum lord

The plaintiff is so full of it. Every time something is going their way they are “fearing for their lives”. Like girl bye.

IMO, they're both crooks. Two business owners and NO ONE bothered to get receipts for money they paid out 🤨. BTW, what does a criminal look like?

So in other words, she wrote a check to herself on her,,,, as she said X husbands business account and then cashed the same check for herself. That could also be considered embezzling, especially if she can not prove that the work was done. After seeing this.. makes you wonder how many other checks she has written to herself and claiming it as an expensive on a business with an x husband.

The defendant and his son are disgraceful. If they act like this in court I can only imagine that they're much worse outside of it.

The defendant's acted the way in which they did because Milian allowed it!! Had this been others then I know she would've done things much differently. No doubt about it.

They're not disgraceful. The father, the plaintiff was eager to tell his side of the story. If anything, the shady plaintiff is disgraceful.

They didn’t act bad. I’m glad they won. If it was up to her she’d own that whole place herself yet he is the rightful owner
