The woman crying and holding Donny @ 42:01 is my mother, Kelly. She was there meeting him for the first time with her twin sister. She passed away this last week but loved Donny until the end💜
@@DavesOsmondVideos. yes, she went to see the Osmond brothers a few times in Branson and she saw Donny and Marie in Vegas twice. I’ve even met a few of the brothers with her in Branson, just at a department store and hotel.
Deepest condolences for your loss, she seemed like such a sweet soul. I'm sure that even though you will miss her terribly you rejoice to know that you will see her again.
I have alway loved the Osmonds especially Donny, but after watching "Being a Osmond" each one of those guys has a very special place in my heart forever. They don't know it, but they all helped a little girl get through some real bad and sad times. Thank you Osmonds for being you. I'm also sorry for all the pain you all endured. I wish I could have been there for you. Like you were for me.💗💜
So sorry that they endured so much pain. As a fan, I had no idea what they were going through but if it helps at all, they should know that they were the best part of many many of our lives. I'm 62 and I will ALWAYS be an Osmond fan.
I absolutely adore the Osmond’s then and now.. I attended MANY concerts back in my youth (70s) i attended all the rock and 3 Osmond concerts AND The Osmond’s concerts the absolute best !! They deserve to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!
Many of us were fans of the Osmonds back in the day and still to this day. Looking at this video really made me realise what they went through in order to please all their fans. They are wonderful people who have given so much of themselves to others. God bless them all ❤️
Crazy Horses is one of the most underrated Rock albums ever. If the Bros. would have been able to progress from that album and produce more music like that their story would have had a completely different second half. The Osmonds ROCK, no doubt about it!
DUSK 1962 YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT. MR & MRS OSMOND SAW, KNEW & HEARD THE TALENT THAT THEIR SONS & DAUGHTER HAD & HELPED THEM TO BECOME ✨ STARS!!!!
I love this beautiful family! I loved them as a teen in the 70’s and even more now! Thank you Osmond brothers for all you sacrificed for your fans. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
How do you watch this without crying! The Osmond's gave me hours and hours of pleasure, and who knew their pain? They exemplified the true meaning of "family", and I will forever be grateful I grew up with them around me.
I feel the same, I enjoyed the performances and really admired their talent. It makes me so sad to hear they were so stressed and at times very unhappy and disconnected from family members. I can only pray they are content today.
They still have million dollat smiles and are so talented! I still love listening to their music, but I am sad for them. All that talent, money and fame can't give you peace.
never was a fan but as soon as I got an eyeful of Wayne with his tie-dye tee shirt, I knew he was a guy I'd like to have a conversation with. He seems to continue to have a good time on the journey of life. As the doc continued I could appreciate his sensitivity and humor. Also Wayne s spot-on with his comment about serving others! The best way to get out of "self' is thru volunteering, says I. Cheers
This was a real eye opener for me. I have been a fan for years and years. I'm sorry that they had it so tough. They are all mega talented and I wish them all the very best.
The joy they bring to so many came at a terrible price, but it seems to have made them the strong men they are. Thank you to all the Osmonds for the joy you have brought me and so many others through the years.
Born in 1962 I grew up with the Donnie and Marie Show. Little Bit Country, little Bit Rock N Roll. I grew up Baptist but converted to the LDS church in 1983 just before my 21st birthday. I saw Donnie in person at University Mall in Provo in 1984 when I was buying a suit for my mission to Japan. All of the Osmonds had that million dollar smile. How could you be anything but 100% happy with a smile like that? Right? Well, from my own experience of trying to live up to the standards of the LDS church which makes it very easy to be hard on yourself for not being perfect enough, I realize the pressure they all were under must have been incomprehensible. I wish them all the best. I wish closure for them with each other and what they went through. I wish them health and happiness going forward. I wish them peace and rest.
Mormon cultists say "Be ye therefore perfect" because they believe they are "in progression to godhood". So they exhaust themselves on the Mormon Be-ye-therefore-perfect treadmill. They don't realize that Jesus came because we are all imperfect, but forgiven.
I am glad to have the opportunity to watch this. It put a new light on what this family sacrificed in order to entertain and touch others. May they be richly blessed and enjoy their families to the max!
Thank you Osmond Brothers for all the great memories! I have loved you all since the beginning of your career’s! I will always love you and follow you! You guys are amazing!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️💕
My friend said that in the 70s Wayne (in person) had droopy eyelids and wasn't as handsome as he was in his publicity shots wearing make-up. (He has REALLY grey hair now in this video.) Ron Clarke hasn't changed much.
I was never an Osmond fan. Started watching them a few weeks ago. How could you not love Jay and Wayne! It was so hard to watch all of them fight back tears. The pain was so real you could almost touch it.
As I'm watching this documentary about The Osmond Brother's, my heart ❤️ & soul is just aching and breaking for this family. Not just for The Osmond Brother's who perform's but for the brother's who're deaf as well too because dispite them being deaf they wanted to be part of the performing Osmond Brother's on stage with them, and then listening to their individual stories about what they're going through & what life was like for them at home & on the road. And here they were uplifting our own lives & helping many people getting through their own personal issues, yet The Osmond Brother's were going through their own issues & demon's themselves, their just like everyone else theirs human being's & they're not really being allowed to live & have as normal live's like most people get to have, I feel like they need lot's of hugs 🤗🤗 & I felt like hugging 🤗🤗 them all right through my phone, I feel like telling them that they're loved ❤️ and appreciated and everything is gonna be alright & tell them that nobody & nothing is ever gonna hurt you guy's ever again.Much ❤️ & hug's 🤗🤗 to The Osmond Family
Such truth spoken in this documentary. The love this family has for one another and the fans is truly genuine. Thank you Osmonds for sharing and for being so open and honest. Truly an amazing loving Family.❤❤❤❤❤
I think when I lived in Lancaster, California,in the early 90 s, at the fair grounds my ex husband and I were there.Somebody handed us 2 tickets free. Think it was for the Osmonds,we did not stay because Carrot Top was there before the Osmonds, Carrot Tops jokes every other word out his was fowl.I wanted to get up and leave. So we did get here the Osmonds. Am I right ,were they there at the time
I fell in love with them 46 years ago. My first concert was to see The Osmonds. Watching this made me cry! I follow Jay and Karen's Live and love hearing the stories or seeing the excitement going down memory lane. I still listen to their music over and over. Rhey have been such a blessing in our lives!
Tears for their pain, hurt, & trauma. And tears for their healing. May the blessings of love, understanding & forgiveness continue to fuel unending compassion & healing.
Always appreciated the good manners and love between this whole family. Marie is sweet, too. I was a teen in the sixties and when my eldest daughter was born in 1969, we enjoyed seeing the Osmond family on television. God bless the families of the Osmonds!
They seem such lovely, damaged men. So terribly sad that parents and people that are trusted could do this to children. They all seem to be gentle souls
@Anne Liesveld When somebody doesn't have a childhood, yes, they are damaged. That doesn't mean that they are locked up in an institution. But we are supposed to experience childhood to grow up to be healthy adults.
Anne Liesveld I think in some ways they were damaged one of the Osmond brothers wanted to be a Dr. and another one wanted to go into the Air Force and be a pilot and their father said No!!! I think it’s because the parents wanted to live off their fame. Donny and Marie have been on TV since they were like toddlers. I think the Osmond brothers were on one episode of the Lawrence Welk show (and I think a few more shows of the 60s) then Marie walked out she was about 3 years old.
@Anne Liesveld And they have childhoods. And children have no say in decisions made by their parents. What are they going to do? Say no? And the parents would say "Oh ok, then, no problem?" Donny started working at age 5.
Anne, obviously you were not watching or listening to what they were saying. They were tortured souls, all of them. God gave them a gift and their parents exploited it. The original plan was for them to make enough money to pay for Virl and Tom’s hearing aids. I think when the money started rolling in it was to good to pass up. The Osmond children payed the ultimate price. It’s truly a wonder they are as well adjusted in their adult lives.
I love it when you boys sing, He ain’t Heavy he’s My Brother. I pray you all are closer today, because Families Are Forever! You boys were the best missionaries ever. We are thankful for the gospel everyday.
I was security for the Osmond Brothers back 1983 in Hot Springs Arkansas at The Vapors Club. We had a great time going fishing on Lake Quachita and I stopped and borrowed a big bass from a livewell and we hooked to Wayne's fishing pole to prank Allen , Merrill.,and Jay . Had a great time and fond memories of the children also. I gave all the kids necklaces with martial arts motifs. Thanks for the memories. ✝️🙏
Their lives almost parallels the Jackson's? Both came from large families, faith was prominent in their lives, both groups started at a very young age, they were popular during the same decade and their fathers groomed them relentlessly, and both fathers were domineering. I think both the Osmonds and the Jacksons put on brave and happy faces for the world in those early years because they did not want to disappoint their fathers because the consequences may have have been just short of child abuse. I cried watching the brothers coming to terms with their upbringing, life journeys and with each other. They sacrificed much for us their fans. What a great price they have had to pay. Thank you so much for the music and Joy that you all brought to the world.
Rochelle Amadeo Donny and Michael said years ago that’s why they became very good friends..kindred spirits. When I was a kid during that era the powers that be made it look like they hated each other ..in school kids made into a racial thing..black kids the J5 white kids or in my East Harlem school it was the puerto rican Kids...Osmonds. I fell into the trap being a young black girl who loved Michael Jackson, we were told the Osmonds copied off the Jacksons and they must be hated. 🤦🏽♀️When I became an adult I learned it was all a lie! Both families were tremendously talented but emotionally damaged. Both families were controlled by their record companies and public relation puppeteers that created the phony competition. Oh a fun fact.. their moms Katherine Jackson and Olive Osmonds share a birthday! Great documentary but so sad 🥺🥺
Through your sadness you brought so many joy. Especially me❤️and I lived in Australia, I bought every teen magazine and played your records over and over again.
When I was in my early twenties I lived in Buffalo NY. I happened to be driving to work and saw a white limo drive into a place called Record Theater. I parked and entered the building to find the Osmonds. I walked down the line being pushed and shoved by fans. So when I got to where Wayne was standing I started to move on but he reached out and shook my hand and asked me how I was doing. A very brief encounter but his act of kindness to me has lasted a lifetime. I'm sixtyfour now. God bless Wayne hope he's doing ok now.
@@susanc3474 unfortunately I don't as I just happened to see the limo pull up so I parked will guick and went inside to see who it was. Turned out to be the Osmonds. I wasn't prepared with a camera or anything. Sorry!
I’ve loved the Osmonds since the 70’s. I’d go with my friends to watch the taping of Donny and Marie show. It was in their studio in Orem/Provo Utah area. One taping had Andy Gibb as one of the stars visiting. We sat in the audience and I noticed their father, George Osmond sitting on our row!! Being there was thrilling. While our sweet husbands tended our young children. May Heavenly Father bless them and their families continually throughout lives now!! -Sue Salazar
PLEASE let your family know how GRATEFUL I am for their LOVE, TALENTS, ENJOYMENT AND TRUE INDIVIDUAL/FAMILY SACRIFICES . Your FAMILY has been my ROCK and HOPE since i was 5-6 going on 51 yrs, I can NEVER repay you or your family for the JOY and HOPE given me. THANK YOU GOD BLESS
My mom took me and my brother to their concert at the Bosten Garden & I'll never forget it I've loved these guys since i was a kid. I'm now 63 and still love them and am grateful for their sacrifices, because during my childhood I had my own turmoil I faced, but they got me through it and made me feel loved all because of their songs. They will never know how they have touched my life and kept me on the straight and narrow road. I will always be grateful to them and to God for helping me during my tough times. :)
This documentary shocked me! Have been an Osmond can since 1971, cried myself to sleep with an intense love and devotion for these beautiful, talented brothers, Donny was my God esp Especially, they were my childhood! But so sad and shocked to know just how sad there childhoods were, you just never know what's really going on in people's lives! How sad this made me feel! But thank god you all went through it together! and can talk about the hurt, the fear, the real sacrifices you all endured to give us the fans, the happy childhoods you never got to live! I love you all for saving so many lives with your music, your empathy, but most of all for your honesty, strength and total love of each other throughout your troubled lives! You can now be free! Thank you x
This was just sad all the way around. Never knew they were so sad. It's quite a shock. But I will always love the Osmonds. There will never be another phenomen like them☹️♥️
The Donny & Marie Show, best entertainment show on tv ever. period. they bring so much joy and happy memories to so many people the world over, even i am from Borneo, halfway around the world. They are so famous even in Asia, so many of us grew up watching them, thank you for the beautiful memories.
Broke my heart when Wayne said he wanted to be a doctor and dad wouldn't let him. Some parents are to strict and others are not. I think when you turn 18 kids can make their own decisions on what they want be in life.
The original reason for the boys wanting to perform was very noble. and then they wished to help the older brothers with their hearing problems and education , which was wonderful of them. At some point as the boys ambitions started to change , their parents wanted to maintain the income and not have to be the adults and work ever again so the boys ended up supporting the whole family , and their personal lives stopped mattering. So sad.
Yes you or so right.Whenna child turns 18,they should be able to make their own path. The Osmonds are wonderful people.God Bless them. Osmonds parents were way to Strict.
@@gailhandschuh1138 To realize now, over 50 years later, the frustrations and anxiety the older brothers must have endured, while being basically "imprisoned" in their hotel and motel rooms, with their mother and father in the adjoining rooms, while scores of screaming teen girls were under the balconies and down in the lobbies, just waiting for them to emerge. It must have been worse than hell for them! Can you imagine 20, 22, 24, and 26 year old male performers being subjected to that" life" today?! Because that's how old Jay, Merrill, Wayne and Alan were back then.
I wasn't a big Osmond fan, it was David Cassidy for me. But I did like many of their songs, and watched the Donny and Marie show as a teen. I hadn't realized how gifted they all were until hearing the singing here. They are all sweet, earnest and insightful, and their stories are moving. I really enjoyed this. (Footnote: my brother worked on Donny's car decades back and told me he was a good guy.)
My favourite song of theirs is the massively underrated One Way Ticket To Anywhere. Brilliant!!! An emotional journey here for the guys but I'm glad at the end they said it brought them some closure. I notice the concert has fans actually watching it and not throwing up a wall of mobile phones. The best way to see a concert...
I grew up with their music and was fortunate to see them in concert in 1977. I never realized how much they gave up to be entertainers. I just want to say “thank you” for sharing your talents and giving your fans awesome memories!
Absolutely amazing video... We had the privilege to see Donny and Marie live at the Flamingo 3 years ago and what an amazing show.. Glad to see Donny Osmond is back at Harrah's Resort and Casino in Las Vegas 🙂
Wonderful tribute!. .Sad, beautiful, honest, spiritual. A heartfelt summary of a family’s life work. A childhood to adulthood snapshot of devotion to parents, fans and each other.
Honestly, in 1980 I got baptized Later -Day Saint the Mormons because of Donny & Marie. I adored you all with upper respect. Of course, pier to this, I was placed into a foster home in Toledo, Ohio because my parents were going through a bitter divorce & so, having your family on TV every Friday evening, gave me the fuel to dream about everything a 10 year-old would in a situation I experienced. Thank you with love. ❤️
It's wonderful to see how this family overcame hardships and cared to express love to one another and their audience. Thanks for sharing your testimony online. Blessings
What an amazing, resilient family. They have give so much to so many, even through adversity. They were put on this earth for a reason. We the fans Love Them For A Reason.
Showbiz is tough. I can’t imagine all the traveling they had to do and the time they had to spend away from their families. They are wonderful men, gentle souls, real people. So glad to see them have this chance to get together and talk and to realize the most important thing through it all, is that, THEY ARE BROTHERS!
The Osmonds brought so much joy! When I was a little girl, & my folks were arguing & arguing, I’d listen to “Go Away Little Girl” & feel like I belonged. I didn’t realize back then, it was their warm harmony which touched my heart. Very sorry there was much pain & many burdens from being superstars. May the love & gratitude from all of us bring the Osmonds the comfort & joy they so unselfishly gave. Godspeed.
They're the band that I as a kid wanted to see in person. I never knew except until now the difficulty that they had to endure in exchange for fame and glamour. I'm so sorry for them having to go through that when they were enormously multitalented individuals. But they had inspired me and helped greatly in my appreciation for music, and how their music had helped me cope a dark and painful childhood.
Thank you for touching our lives!!!!! Watching this documentary shines through on how the world is truly a better place for having you gentlemen (and Marie) in it!! Live, Love and Laugh...
I am so sorry that you didn't really have a childhood, I know how that is. So many things missed out of , just know that I watched you and listen to your music. I am 60 and cannot get my lost childhood back , I hope and pray that you all get along and value each other. I have plenty of family, that have nothing to do with me. The Lord Jesus is my friend and Savior! Thank you all for getting me through so many hard times .
Great video! I've been a fan of the Osmond brothers since 1972. I loved them all..but my favorites were Donny and Merrill..in that order. I had such a big crush on Donny😍and dreamed of meeting him. The Osmonds are so good looking and so multi talented! And they are good people too. So many great memories..the 70's was an innocent time and such an exciting time! The kind of excitement of that time can never be duplicated. I miss those days. I love the Osmonds!❤️ Thank you so much Dave for sharing!
Fascinating, touching and compelling look at their lives all these years later. I loved them (crushed on Merrill and Donny) when I was a young teen in the early 70s and I have tremendous respect for the way they've handled their lives with grace and dignity. Despite the highs and lows most of us can only imagine, they have achieved the best definition of success.
Excellent retrospective on the Osmond’s career. They had great success and they had their challenges and trials as well. Fame has a cost. It’s not all easy sailing. But they also made a lot of people happy with their harmonies and performances. Thanks Osmonds!
Oh man! This touched my heart so much! I have been an Osmond fan since before I was a teenager! Merrill was my first favorite Osmond brother! Then when Donny started recording, I was a teenager and had that teenage girl crush! But even now I love the Osmond sound and how they feel about their fans, but even more, how the have grown to really appreciate each other! Yes I wish I could have an autograph from each one of them but doubt I will ever have that chance.
I grew up in Philippines watching the Osmonds with my entire family. Very wholesome entertainment by very talented siblings. We look to them as our example growing up. I am sad and sorry to know of what they’ve been through. We all go through though times but they handled theirs with grace and dignity. These are rare individuals in the world of entertainment. My respect to each and everyone of them.
I remember having a crush on them too when I was a little girl. lol !! I used to love that song "Puppy Love" and I would play it over and over. I watch the movie about their lives last night. That was my 1st time watching it .
Just watched this and was very touched at the end to see all the brothers be so open and honest about there feelings. A good lesson for all, remember to always communicate. Never be ashamed of expressing your true feelings.
My in-laws lived in Provo, Utah for many years and Wayne was their Home Teacher!!! And when we would visit we would go to the Ward with ALL the Osmonds and their families. They were just REGULAR PEOPLE!!!!
I remember the Osmonds. Mostly Donnie and Marie. I wasn’t a crazy fan but watching this was so sweet. Now that I’m 47 I have an appreciation for their story and wow they are really good!!
What a family I have been a fan since I was about 10 years old . My heart goes out to them They have been through a lot . Didn’t live a normal life Ups and downs like most families. But my goodness what a strong bond . That’s love right there ♥️🙏
I'm 9 months younger than Donny , my crush was Merrill in the day , what a family ,feel for them and all their illness's etc ,normal human beings , thanks for what u gave us ,got memories of u and ur music , I'm sorry u were " bullied" by ur Dad but I'm sure it's made u the lovely men u are today .
Amazingly talented family. I admire these boys/men for resisting all the pressures and staying clean and pure. God bless them always. Not many in the entertainment industry can top the Osmonds.
I don't care what anybody says....they are America's treasure. Each one so talented.....and so well mannered. Kind ...decent ....and respectable. Their parents sure did something right raising them. I was so jealous of Marie having all those older Brothers looking after her. What a loving family to have been in !!!!! They may be "retired" now...but their legacy will live on forever. The world will never see a family like this again. Thank you Osmonds.....for all the joy and music you have given us all these years. !!!!!
Back in the early seventies, my friend and I, at the age of 7 or 8, use to pretend we were married to the Osmond brothers when playing house. I can't remember if it was Wayne or Jay that I chose and she the other. How funny to think about that now.
Many parts of this broke my heart. They seemed like the most loving family and to hear Merrill say he was not close to Donny was sad. Everything they went through in their lives to bring joy to ours takes a very special kind of person and the Osmond;s did that.
Even at Merrill's last show in Vegas when Donny went and hugged Merrill when Merrill broke down crying. It was such a touching moment. You could tell that old wounds were closed.@@lianelayman6584
How sad it makes me feel to hear the stories of these wonderful people you have loved for almost as long as you have been alive and to know how much pain they were in as you were made happy by them.. I pray that the knowledge that they are so loved and have helped so many people with their music gives them joy .... I love" he ain't heavy he's my brother "
God Bless each and every Osmond. They all had dreams that they didn’t get to fulfill. So sad. They are truly amazing coming together having the strength to talk about all this and then to be so forgiving.
