It's very melancholy to be watching this in August 2020. I wonder how much of the glass is still intact after the explosion in Beirut. Those poor people have been suffering one way or another most of my lifetime.
I have visited 82 countries and Lebanon is definitely in my TOP 3 !!! Amazing nature, very rich culture and history, very welcoming and friendly people, crazy nightlife and very yummy food (I mean really really yummy) ! Beirut has it all ❤ ❤
I think Beirut is the most beautiful city in the arab world and the Levant. Despite it being a concrete jungle and a mess in some places, it is still so charming. I can't really explain it but something about this city that is so beautiful!
If the apartments were affordable, you would be looking at a Brutalist square block of concrete with small windows. I feel torn on these projects, nice but also a top 1% affair...
although i deeply loved the design, i hate the fact that it is in Beirut as i am personally concerned about the city' architectural heritage. As skyscrapers keeps rising, more and more beutiful triditional buildings are being demolished, mainly for skyscrapers to be build in their locations . I have to say i have no think against high rise structures but i think beirut never was the right city for them, beirut charm is in its special architecture and unique atmosphere. on top of that we cannot forget that lebanon is not by any means a prosperous country, only the the corrupted govrenment officials and the 0.1% of the population can afford to live there, totally ignorant of the poor living conditions most lebanese people are living in. all i want to say is the middle east has only one dubai, is sickining to see all middle eastren capitals ereasing their architectural history in order to become a new one.
I’m not against skyscrapers in Beirut but not at the expense of Lebanons historic heritage. Fun fact the king who built Dubai took inspiration from Beirut
It’s actually the only city close to Dubai in the Levant and what makes it amazing is that it features modern skyscrapers as well as the old traditional levantine buildings, all in one beautiful city
The building and the surrounding towers wasn't heavily damaged even though it is directly beside the port just some shattered glass that was replaced during 2020
Never? Yesterday I was just randomly watching RU-vid. I always appreciate new building and engineering throughout the world. But wow! Did you see that explosion! Incredible!
@@johnlozowski8865 I’m from Lebanon, the Beirut port blast didn’t actually bring down any buildings it just demolished the entire port (silos warehouses etc.) however the surrounding buildings in the Beirut port area where damaged by glass being broken and just everything being all over the place.
Those small holes on the edges of some slabs are not convincing. Its an extra cost and potentially a maintenance issue as well. Couldn't tell how they could be part of terrace floors. If not, terraces would be bigger without them, and the regions accessible. If they are for looks, a few, some big, would have done the job. Otherwise, a fine scheme. One more thing, round colums were opted for, presumably to stand out. The other option could have been to be rectangular, with the building's rectilinearity, and becoming part of it here and there.
@@hayz_kk9818 because it doesn't matter how beautiful the building is, Lebanon's population is on the decline because nobody can afford the outrages prices per square foot let alone a $5000000 dollar apartment. Take it from a Lebanese living in Canada.
Hopefully they can get rid of their iranian backed government so the so their country can operate free of corruption again. Major sanitation crisis going on at the moment among other problems
It looks the same, some glass may have been damaged. The only parts that where fully affected where the surrounding buildings of the port where a lot of glass was destroyed and kind of like a earthquake everything was shaken.
Beirut was never screwed Go watch Beirut:the Paris of the middle east 4k and rise above Lebanon on RU-vid and see what Lebanon has to offer(both are short summer videos about Lebanon and the capital Beirut) So you won't see the snow whatsoever bcz snow is found in 7 months only in leb The rest 5 month the snow melts
Oh, it got screwed up Muhammed. But you're exactly right - the Paris of the Middle East. Sadly, that was a long time ago. War, politics, religion, foreign intervention - all unkind to the Beriut of the 50's and 60's. It is on the comeback. The people must assume power for that.
