Nice ceremony. Its a long time since I’ve seen someone swinging the left arm in unison as the female officer in the navy was doing. We commonly called this tick tocking

I heard at the end : " King of Belgium" . It's not correct ! It's Philippe of Belgium or The King of Belgians . Philippe isn't King of land(Belgium) but he's King of people(Belgians) contrary to others Monarchies. They are Kings/Queens of one Kingdom(Country).

I do not get it. Why Yesterday, what does it celebrate on this specific day ? Not opposed to any opportunities for nations to celebrate shared moments of the past. This is a good enough reason for meeting and remembrance.

It's the week before Belgium's national day (July 21)... a way for Britain to tell it takes Belgian independance quite seriously (Germany should know, by now...)

@@francoisdebellefroid2268 Thanks for letting me know. Belgium's independence and security is no longer at risk (from Germany.) This may be a cunning way to reaffirm here and now strong ties with Belgium: a close neighbour with Brussels the capital city, seat of the EU as well.

When King Albert I of Belgium died, his nephew king George V, allowed Belgium to parade in London. This parade is to confirm the 'familial' bond not only between the two monarchs (at that time) but also between the two nations, as Britain was also one of the 'guarantors' of Belgium's independence as set in the Treaty of London

The lady officer at 32.50 desperately needs a recap at marching school imho......pffff.

They're just sea cadets (a youth movement in the UK, Belgium and many more countries), shouldn't expect much from them. I don't even understand why they're allowed to parade. Having been in it myself, drill standards are nearly non-existent and bring shame upon our Belgian nation anytime they get invited to come.

In the First World war, the Germans took nearly all Belgium except for Ypres which was the only Belgian town never to have been fallen. We Brits saw to it. The Belgian King refused to surrender bit in the second world war, his son let his father diwn by surrendering his country to Hitler's force and became friendly with the Germans and declared Belgian people who continue to fight traitors. British forces liberated th country in September but nearly overran again in December 1944 but the Americans held on until the New Year. Belgium should not only honour us British but also the Americans too.

I think you should read up on what exactly the cenotaph parade symbolises... it was established before ww2 and is linked to the King Albert I. When King George V lost his nephew (being King Albert I), Belgium was granted the right to parade in London. The are the only kingdom outside the commonwealth nations to have the right to march with uniform and arms in the UK. Thus, no disrespect to the enormous efforts made by the Americans in both world wars, but it has nothing to do with this particular parade.
