As much as I would like to see more coverage from him of FF14, it must be a daunting prospect for him as larger channels than his have fallen from grace just from switching what game they played. Not something to really decide on a whim. Though personally I am seeing a trend these days of WoWtubers getting higher views from covering/playing FF14, so hopefully that continues and it's not just a phase or coincidence.

I think most systems/progression should be account wide--Conduits, Honor, Renown, Torghast, Soul Ash etc... I do not want to redo the worst content in the game that feels only okay the first time doing it. Should incorporate account wide systems that is actual beneficial having alts not penalizing

Its mainly designed to be timegated etc, to make people remained subscribed.. it sucks.. this is why i only buy the game when it comes out... then enjoy the new content and get to lvl cap, then quit..(after 1 month from release), then later on re-subscribe again 1 month before the next exp comes out, so i can get another 2 months worth of content. Thats it. Thats what Blizzard gets from me.
The Shadowlands reviews/critiques/rants have been massively entertaining! Informative even. But play that garbage? That's a big nope lol. As someone who quit over Blitzchung I have to say there is some satisfaction in watching Blizzard burn all the goodwill they accumulated over the years.
Wish I had done same. Was borderline bought out of whatever goodwill was left from Legion. Quit 1 month later. Highly unlikely I play it again. Very sad.

This limitation on conduit energy is so unnecessary. It's like trying to limit how many times you can change your shoes per week because the fashionista down the street feels the constant need to change her shoes to a different shade of red to match her outfit every time she goes out.
and that rule also applies to stores so you aren't able to try on new shoes before buying them and you're ultimately better off just googling what's the best shoes you could wear instead of trying to find your own style.
Thing that drives me the most crazy about this situation is they already had a system with azerite essences where you could switch them whenever/however much you wanted as long as you were in a major city or inn. Enter Shadowlands where you're not only arbitrarily limited to how many times you can change them out- but you ALSO have to be in your sanctum to change them at the soulbind altar dealy....like bruh- what are you doing?

@ I literally just spent 2 hours swimming around from hinterlands to tiras. Why because I like to explore. Side note random elven building area in the middle of nothing is about 20 to 30 minutes out there
"They don't respect our time." This passed week I ran 8 mythic plus dungeons. I took a day off work. I took time away from my wife. After all of it, I had one item drop. I figured, that's okay. I'll get something in my vault. I ran some high enough where I should get at least one ilvl upgrade even if the stats aren't the best. At least I'll get something. 11/12 slots were potential for an upgrade. The item ended up being where I already had my 235 legendary equipped...great, now I either ditch the item or I have to go farm Torghast again to get enough Ash to remake it in a different slot. Don't get me started on the week I had 6 potential items in my vault and 3 were boots, 2 were trinkets that weren't as good as what I had...it just feels bad.
Oof, I know that feel. The whole reason I quit Legion was because I was deep in the 3rd month without a legendary and had been doing every single thing possible since day 1 to increase my odds, but sometimes bad RNG just raw-dogs you. I was the last one in the raid group to get one, and when it finally happened for me, it was the worst possible one for DPS. A couple weeks later, my guild was flirting with the idea of faction changing (which they did) so I took that time to wish them luck and let my sub expire.
@@Rhodair YES. The same thing happened to me in Legion. I got the worst legendary and that was at the time where once you got one, you basically wouldn't get another. I knew people who started completely new characters of the same class and boosted them, just to get another chance at a good DPS leggo. It makes you feel even worse when you think about no matter how well you play, you will never do as much damage as the person who got the "right" item to drop. (although later I had almost perfect RNG, in Nighthold I got 4 drops of my tier set in a single run. After that I didn't have any other drops for 2 months.)
Long ago they started relying too much on their anonymous play statistics that they parse out on the back end and stopped listening to what people actually say about what they're doing. They are mixing up play time with engagement.
I seriously want some metrics, I find it hard to believe they outnumber the people that don't want these changes. My guess is it is a smaller population, but also more whales that contribute to the cash shop. Blizzard is losing it's base, this house of cards will fall soon if they keep it up.
@@trxe420 It's even simpler than that. They think playtime is the same as approval. They see the internal data showing x% of players engaged with system Y for Z time and think that all equals success. The only real way to get a message across to blizzard is to do what Bellular did, just don't participate in the systems you think are broken and if you think that's everything, unsub. Never buy more time than you have to so you can unsub if things take a turn
I feel like Blizz wouldn't be opposed to getting rid of Conduit energy.... The "problem" with doing that is that the community thought up of that solution,not them and they dont want to give us the satisfaction of having us solve their problems and them saying "You're right"
iirc this was a similar issue in Anthem. the loot system was trash and not rewarding so they asked the guy who fixed Diablo 3's to play it and help them fix it and he did. then when they got his solution to fix it they didnt impliment it cause they wanted to figure it out themselves and well....look at that game now
You gotta imagine the sheer amount of tickets they get, if they personally went through and read every single one it would take months if not years and a massive team singled at just that lol and IF the automated stuff doesn't help, you can eventually talk to someone.
I kinda have to disagree. When I opened a ticket, the customer support was actually pretty fast, after I think 7 - 12 hours? The GM was very nice actually and they do seem to have problems with the current situation in the world. They do try their best and I hope your problem get's fixed fast. What is a problem though is the automatic system checking for bots and their ban methods. While effective, "sometimes" the system does make mistakes. But a simple ticket does work, it just might take a little while longer nowadays. I hope everything goes fine and wish you a fine day! :D

It's honestly hilarious in hindsight how much flak Ghostcrawler got during his time working on WoW considering the current state of World of SystemsCraft. His reign might have not been perfect by any stretch, but I would take any expansion he was in charge of over Ion's systems focused game. Not to say that everything produced under Ion's leadership has been bad, but he clearly is not the right guy to be in charge of the entire direction of the game. The last couple of expansions really feel like the devs have been completely disconnected to the player base like never before.
@Return to the Old World LoL itself might have less players than let's say it did in its prime but saying it's dead in the water is a bit disingenuous. It's still doing better than WoW atm. Like don't get me wrong I'm definitely playing Shadowlands over LoL atm, but if Riot does it's MMO right, I'll definitely be playing that instead unless by some miracle Blizzard finally sees that whatever they're doing currently is further pushing their core playerbase away.
Am I nuts, or does it seem like they design these systems with the type of player in mind who logs in does something for an hour or two and logs off for a day or more. Sounds a lot like mobile gaming to me.
They are designing the game that fits the majority of the player base. And yes, majority of the player base is as you described. Majority of WoW players today are old-time fans (I'm one). I started playing wow when I was like 17, now I'm 32, I have wife, kids and a job. While I do often wish I can just log in and play 24/7 like in the old times, that is sadly impossible. It impossible for 95% of people. So yes, majority of us at best can log in for an hour or two a day.

The game is catered for majority, because majority pays the bills. WoW is a product built by a company who is hiring people and giving them salaries. If the game was tailored for 5% of the player base, then no one would play it, because the game wouldn't exist. So no, WoW has been degrading in quality for many years, and that is a sad fact. But it doesn't make anything I wrote innacurate. That is the new reality of the game and has been for past couple of years. People seam to be refusing to understand that, and from one expansion to another, they keep believing that will change. It will not. It will get worse and that is the simple reality.
@JSBroadcast This attitude basically negates everything but end game content as being worth playing. If you only have an hour or two a day to play, the game should still be enjoyable. You'll just hit end game at a different pace than people who play more than you.
Yep, I agree. As a druid main who enjoys all specs, plays 2-3 at least, and plays all aspects of the game (mythics, raids, battlegrounds, arena, open world); shadowlands and BFA make playing multiple specs impossible let alone playing alts. Then you get a much better made mmo, final fantasy 14 that is designed around letting you do everything on one character.

How come we had to go through all of this with talent trees (remember when swapping specs had a cost??) and when they removed the barriers to swapping back and forth with specs we were all happy. Who the hell at blizz thought that the thing people used to hate about swapping talents would be good to put back into the game?

Now that I watch Bel and Zach it is like looking into a toxic relationship that I got out of that they haven’t yet.. it is sad to see such passion used in a game that could careless about them as players.
I'm honestly amazed they haven't quit, but Belluar has mentioned he literally logs on, raids, and stops for the week. I don't find that to be worth the money and quit back in Feb when I realized 9.1 wasn't coming out for a long ass time and there wasn't really anything else to do once I leveled a few toons up and capped renown.
They should be forced to play the game since it is clear they don't. GMs and game designers who don't play their own game are only good at making cash shops.
i don't know if that's the problem. if you think that the game should be as it is right now and you play it that wouldn't change your perspective about if that is really the right way. the problem seems more to be that a few people decide a direction for the game that they themself wan't it to be but that actually isn't what the majority (and with that the main-playerbase) want's it to be. all those people leaving blizzard seems like their own employees are fed up with having to do stuff that they know is just stupid.

I left because of Blizzard cutting ties with Quinton Flynn and replacing all of Kael'thas' voice lines due to a false allegation. Funny, going to blizzcon is actually what made me stop playing wow. In bfa a couple years ago I took a week vacation to blizzcon, realized I had no interest in playing when I return which had never been my feeling before. Found out shadowlands was coming, decided to give it some time past the first couple months to see if it’s the same reaction as previous expansions. Turns out I was right to not play zzzzz
If you play FFXIV make sure you enter in a Refer a friend code from a veteran before you pay for your first subscription fee. You get a free two person mount, an EXP buff helm piece that you can use on all your classes, and lot more stuff for free. But you won’t be able to enter it in anymore after that first sub payment or game time entered in. You get the stuff after your first sub payment too so you’re not wondering where it’s at
Ive seen been behind the scene at a few game development studios and the reaccuring problem ive noticed is the designers litterally view themselves as gods and better than you so how could your ever out do them? They purposely ignore systems that work just because of who presented it
I find that so easy to believe, the interviews from the devs over the last few weeks and even at the blizzconline showed just how deluded the devs of this game really are.
As a druid, I use a different soulbind for each of the specs I play. Swapping to that spec will turn on that soulbind. I don't understand how swapping conduits infinitely is more egregious than swapping SOULBINDS infinitely. Get rid of mandatory solo content. It's boring because it's designed for doorknob licking retards and, as someone who only wants to heal, it's tedious. All I want to do is group content with my friends but, there is so little of it. Also, Mythic + is boring now because you haven't done anything interesting with the system since Legion. I'm glad you have figured out how to make dungeons worthwhile beyond 5 weeks into an expansion. The problem is that affixes are largely just percentage increases; It's extremely lazy and uninspired. TBC launched with 5+ raids. Most of WoW's newer expansions barely hit that many after 2 years..... WTF are you people doing?
@@Direbeetus for the soulbinds i think this is the way to go but if you have 2 specs on 1 soulbind you choose 1 to be "optimal" agree that m+ can be boring but its still a good replacement for raiding for fewer people on the raids note i think doing more than one raid and mythic+ means that you will gear so fast and probably will be a new "pain point"
Because they have a strange need to curtail how people play by making half-baked systems that punish any other way of playing the game than how they want you to play, they almost said so verbatim in a few interviews already. For some reason, they don't want people to play several specs, ostensibly in an attempt to force the players to experience some sort of class fantasy, which should be organic through freedom of choice, but for some reason blizz doesn't like that. Blizzard did pioneer the themepark MMO with WoW afterall, the current development philosophy is fundamentally based on the idea that they create an experience, not a game, and the problem with that, is that people don't play MMO's to be forced into an experience, they play to create their experience - hence the problems between developers and players, and the whole reason for conduit energy to exist in the first place, half-baked system to fake RPG elements and class fantasy, but really just there to fulfill some weird development philosophy.
You know what would help people who play multiple specs? How about having your conduits linked to your talent spec, just like you can do with your equipment manager...its such a simple fix, why have they not figured that out
If only BFA had the EXACT SAME FUCKING PROBLEM as a teaching example to learn from. Oh well, too late now to rework the entire expansion's systems to fix it. Start screaming into the empty void where feedback goes to die and maybe azerite traits will get fixed in 10.0

@@KingCurt thats the beauty of It didnt matter what type of player you were hardcore casual whatever, you always had a chance of upgrades, we had so many ways to gear up and gear sources that the game balanced itself, and since everyone had chances of High ilvl gear skill was more of a factor
@@gusp1456 Lets also not forget that in bfa you had a patch where rng on gear was doing 40-50% of peoples damage.I enjoyed the rediculous twilight devastation damage as much as anyone else but to say it was good for the game is just a reach imo. And of course their was no way to really target the corruption gear you wanted until halfway through the patch when the majority of the player b are were already on their way out. Skill was significantly less important in favor of logging in every week to do weekly chores and roll the weekly m+ and visions loot box
@@KingCurt yeah i was refering More to titanforging thats healthy rng kept the game balanced, corruptions were too extreme also just an attempt to find a replacement and so Is current valor ,hell there wasnt a replacement at the start of Shadowlands and gearing was awful for everyone, casual players couldnt progress, hardcore had to pvp for pve, boosting went on the rise making pvp horrible to participate in,m+ gear was worthless and raids barely dropped gear, all stem from removing one system
I thought there was something poetic about PTR testing being timegated by systems designed to timegate players. I would take a leggo that costs 10k soul ash for the chance to run torghast an unlimited number of times to get the ash needed. Not to dogpile on award winning MMORPG FF XIV, but their relic steps are often perceived as a huge grind, but I do not remember a single time they told us we could only progress X% towards a goal within a given week. As for the lack of PTR notes, I feel that part of the laid off community team may be people responsible for communicating those changes to players. It feels much more sparse with this cycle than normal.
@@HiddenEvilStudios That's the biggest difference. FF players accept the grind because most view it as a grind for a cool cosmetic item at the end of an expansion where WoW legendaries are a brutal time gated grind right from the start.
A lot of the really awful relic steps you only have to do once, too. For example, the newest step has you doing 3 quests that want a total of 180 items between em. Sure it will take me a few days to knock out, but they give you multiple ways of getting the items and you only need to do the quests once. You want another relic afterwards, you skip those quests. They're counted as done. Basically they want your first weapon to be an achievement, but want it to be easier to get additional ones. ON TOP of that... If you don't want to do any of this, the weapon you get from the final raid is comparable. FF14 tries to give you multiple avenues to gear up, and I like that.
Bellular asks the question: Who are they designing this for? The answer is that they don’t design things like this FOR anyone. They design it AGAINST people.
I remember when they'd include the things we wanted in the game without making it a double-edged sword every time. "You'd be happy with our game if you saw the big picture" is such a piss-poor excuse to give especially when the players -- the foundation of success -- aren't included in on 'the big picture'.
So like...I haven't played Shadowlands at all. Haven't touched WoW since early BfA. Soulbinds? Stygia? Renown? Conduits? This exemplifies the problem of Systemlands and why I'm so happy that I fucked off years ago. I feel like I'd need a fucking glossary just to get acquainted with all the terms my first week back, and I played WoW for almost a decade. At least with BfA, as awful as it was, it felt like a continuation (or rather, a regression) of Legion until Corruption came along, so there was some cross-knowledge there.
"Wow is based on a subscription modell, why are they interested in engagement metrics?" Because it's not. It has a sub, but the decisions are based on maximalising shop sales. They just take the subs for granted, regardless of the reality of players leaving in waves, because profits are up regardless.
Also, one standard metric across all Activision Blizzard games is easier for investors to use. It is a great metric for something like Candy Crush, totally useless for a game like WoW. Just an abstract number the company can use to tell stockholders how much better they are this quarter than last quarter. Yes, it’s stupid. And unfortunately it has a detrimental effect on the game design because of course “what gets measured gets managed”.
I’m guessing there’s internal discussion about selling conduit boosts. Trying to judge if they can get away with it like they’re doing with Burning Crusade Classic.

Maybe. Blizzard isn't exactly the cash cow of Activision (compared to the CoD franchise at least) and Blizz has to split their resources between WoW, Diablo, Hearthstone, Overwatch. I would imagine it's not easy trying to get more money/devs for WoW from Activision when they know Blizz can just monetize in-game stuff with very little cost to them.

I am 100% with you on conduits. Nothing worse than getting the rep, saving the currency and then finding out you have to go all the way to your covenant hall to add it in, 1 by 1 . And the realising after putting it in that you upgrade something you'll never even have on your character ever, for the entire exspansion. Why is it hard to let us choose things .
I dont even get why there's a recharge rate at all? Or why it exists at all? I thought blizzard was all about convenience in these days... like the talent system. And if they are sooooo worried about people swapping between bosses... couldn't theoretically you just change one of the players with the correct set up? So if it REALLY helped, people would or have started doing this

@@ominousbiscuit if you can afford two subscriptions, give it a shot if you haven't. FFXIV doesn't punish you for taking a day off or hell even a month. FFXIV is just a fun game. Simple as that. the systems in the game do not punish you either. It's a game and it doesn't try to be anything more than that. It's honestly extremely refreshing in this genre
Level 1 to 60 with first expansion free to play :P level up all jobs if you like, then you can always pay sub later. just be sure to only go for main quest first, and the blue unlock quests, maxing your main class/job first. Preferred servers give bonus XP and the lvl 15 dungeon quest gives a 30% bonus xp ring, food +3% xp.
Dude I heard everyone talking about FFXIV so I finally just decided to try it. Bro where has this been my whole life, I cannot believe I have been dealing with blizzard thinking no other mmo could do what they could.
I have been struggling with the game the few last months and it honestly feels like a job where I'm paying to do these meaningless chores in the hopes of having some fun eventually. And having this channel has been the only thing that allowed me to make some kind of sense out of the situation or the current state the game is at. So Bellular's enrage timer is around 2:15 hours of conversation. DPS fast while talking about MM hunters. Other mechanics: -Don't step into conduit energy -Interrupt "Pepsi" sips Awesome clip btw :D
There's some big warts with Classic, but man at least the game design still holds up for me. I can't imagine dealing with this garbo in Modern. Get the BDSM paddle out again.
A good example of that is the talent tree, it's not that it's necessarily good, it's still forcing cookie cutter builds, but atleast you could meme with it which makes it better than the current system.
Man, I remember in wrath, when you collected Valor badges and saved up for gear by doing dungeon quests, I could set the date and plan my gearing process, thats it...no wierd systems that no casual gamers give a shit about, just simple progression. I actually got happy when I finished a level 17 quest in BC and got a gear piece, or gained a talent...the conduit...while interesting on paper stresses me out as the casual player that I am
I've been saying that about ashes of creation, people paid 300$ to test it essentially and the NDA stops anything from being talked about, and I'm sure it's just gonna get extended. It looks bad
Forget the energy, the whole conduit system shouldn't be there. Give us back our class talent trees with more options. This is so dumb and terrible game design.
@@xpuc70 thats what wasso great about the original talent system. You could set it and forget it. Or if you were the few players that engaged with it creating crazy hybrids not mastering any spec. You could play it how you wanted (outside a few thousand gold to change it) but the options were their. They didnt change it to remove the cookie cutter feel but to make balancing the classes and abilities easier

The sunk cost fallacy factors into some of these design choices and they need to give it up. It's not too late, even for 9.1, to just fucking nuke soulbinds and conduits and retroactively bake them into WoD style leveling perks. Or bring back major/prime glyphs for the conduits and turn the soulbind perks into leveling perks that are tied to the particular soulbind NPC. The talk about catch-up gear made me incredibly nostalgic for the timeless isle. Just a chill, relatively low stress and easy way to get an okay set of gear with upgrade options later (since armor tokens dropped all the time anyway), and the upgrade tokens could actually be farmed if you felt like putting in that much effort to boot. If you wanted to go crazy with it you could, no time gating that I recall, and if you wanted to ignore it you could do that too. Come to think of it timeless isle is just the maw but better (no flying, special currency from mobs, etc etc.)
at this point Conduit Energy is seeming like a system forced to be bad so later they can go "Want more Conduit Energy. Now you can buy it at the cash shop"
@@belinus7180 conduit energy is just used for you changing the path with your soul bind. It just means you could change it up whenever, with no limit based on conduit energy..
Sometimes you have to take a step back and remember blizzard charges monthly rent for this. They think this Absolute State of things is a fair trade for your time and money. Like we can't just say "yeah, no thanks, not anymore".
@@Dooger414 Which I honestly have a hard time wrapping my head around. The game hasn't been worth the monthly sub probably since Legion. If your not a hardcore raider, there is seemingly almost nothing this game offers that is better than what is already out there.
@@TheMistressMisery I tried FF14 but couldn't get past the starting areas. I just didn't like how constricted the zones felt and loading screens everywhere. Felt like I was playing a single player game. Might give it another go though. I hear it opens up at later levels
@@kooken58 It opens up MASSIVELY once you really get into it. If you’re able to beat the Main Scenario Quests for A Realm Reborn, you’re home free. I was shown a lot of memes about how Heavensward was the AWARD WINNING EXPANSION but it legitimately is an amazing expansion. The story and the characters are worth it, and because the writing team treats the game as FF first, MMO second, the characters aren’t just suddenly forgotten about in between expansions. The game feels less constrained once you unlock flying/get into the rhythm of teleporting around the entire world using the aetheryite system. It’s like if BFA still had its globe-trotting storyline/daily routine but without all of the bullshit of running through a spiderweb network of different portals. You’re literally never far from where you need to be and it feels really liberating when compared to WoW’s current flight path/single way portal system.
Since ive stopped subbing to wow for now and playing ff14, I will say this Blizz has way too many systems in place that are a chore, they really need to go back to the beginning see why the game worked and why people loved playing it. Right now I treat wow as a single player narrative, level, gear up, play through the story, the end.
18:32 Minor correction: they have FORGOTTEN what option 2 looks like. They used to know. They simply forgot. I never played Wrath because I had to, always because I WANTED to. Even the mundane bits I still enjoyed. Even now when I go back and run ICC for xmog bits, I still actually enjoy the raid. Even though it's humongous and I can't mount and every boss dies in 0.25 seconds so it's basically a giant walking simulator punctuated with brief bits where the voice lines overlap, I still walk away from every single run wither either a new piece of xmog I somehow didn't get the first 300 times, or at minimum a token I can trade in for the specific piece of xmog gear I want. And since ICC sets are still some of the best looking xmogs in the history of the entire game, I'm never wasting my time. The fact that it has some of the best lore and ambiance of any raid in the game is just a nice bonus.

Daily conduit energy isn't stupid and it's not bad design. It's a daily log-in mechanic. It's designed to create false metrics indicating the game is more popular and has more engagement than it real does. This so executives and shareholders can be mislead into continuing to support the game or at least the current dev team. In other words, this is a fraud tactic. And the randomness: it's not there to waste your time. It's called "intermittent reinforcement". It a psychological trick which underlies gambling addiction. It's designed to make game play compulsive instead of merely appealing. It's designed to consume your time, not just waste it.
The folks in charge don't care about the state of the game or if the players are having fun so long as cash and the numbers they measure stay up. I'd love it if they went back to releasing stuff when it was finished, when PTR actually gave people time to try stuff and have things players say actually listened to. When they didn't rush patches ( cause who do they think they're appeasing with a half assed patch? That helps nothing and just makes things worse! ) or expansions just to meet some arbitrary deadline ( Oh no! some other game might be releasing new content at such and such a date...quick! We need to slap together something to keep attention, who cares if it's shit!....wait why are they playing even less? ) Hopefully Dreamhaven and the other studios cropping up from people jumping ship will remember the lessons from (Acti-)Blizzard, both the good parts and the bad and not just stumble into the same sorta shit.

After 14 years of WoW (On-Off relationsship, but i played every expansion since BC from the start at least 6 months) I just downloaded FF14. The gamedesign is fine, the races are not as diverse and cool as in WoW, but i like how friendly and helpful the community is. The story seems interesting... Hopefully Blizz starts to be good again, SL was cool for 3-4Months..now its just boring and the systems they introduced are not well balanced. Short: We dont have to play just one game. This was true in BC and WotLK times but now?
Few tips for FFXIV. 1. If you need faster gameplay, I suggest melee dps, or ranged physical dps (around lv60, 70, and 80 you get alot of off globals to weave) 2. A Realm Reborn (lv1 to lv50) is slow paced story, but towards Heavensward the story picks up alot. They also change voice actors, so the voice acting gets way better. 3. Always follow Main Story Quest and your Class Quests are top priority. 4. Have fun and enjoy the journey, endgame is fun and plenty to do, but it's not a race :D

I tried out FFXIV back in 2017 but it didn't quite grip me and I went back to wow. After only a few weeks of Shadowlands I decided to try it again and i have not looked back since. It feels so weird actually caring about the characters and the story coming from wow where the main leads are as flat as cardboard. And I agree with the community being a lot more friendly. People actually talk and help eachother in dungeons which is such a difference from the experience Ive had in wow. Perhaps i've just been lucky and haven't seen the dark side of FFXIV but so far i'm having a blast with it and finished Shadowbringers yesterday.

i dont think that blizz is afraid of how their players will react. i think they fully know how they will react. they know that no matter what they do there is a portion of the base who will keep playing NO MATTER WHAT. that is who they target, especially the ones who like getting shiny things only available from the store so they can say "look at me, i have money"
