This is a challenging but fantastic hike through Warrumbungle National Park. The trail starts at the car park just off John Renshaw Parkway and is a circuit trail that runs around Belougery Split Rock with an optional summit trail about half way along the way. The summit trail is difficult and very steep, metal handles are required to climb up the rock face. It is not recommended to try this summit trail if the rocks are wet in any way as they would be very slippery resulting in a fall that could cause serious injury. However, on a dry, sunny day, making it to the top of the summit trail is very rewarding. We had a relaxing lunch break at the top and make sure we enjoyed it for a long time before starting our descent.
This trail rewards you with some challenging hiking, stunning views of the park, and a great workout at the same time. Highly recommended if you have some hiking experience. Be sure to take a lot of water with you, especially so on warmer days in the park.
Enjoy the footage!
