@@juangmail4880 you say casual like it’s some kinda insult. I’ve been aware of Ben Askren since he was winning championships at Mizzou…have you? Anyway, my point is that he lacks humility. It looks funny on someone that got treated the way he did when he faced the highest level of competition.
Ben does have a point. Originally, Tony Ferguson was a wrestler. That's where the "ankle pick" meme came from. But his whole career in UFC he virtually did zero wrestling. And he can't use running out of cardio as an excuse, he has a lot of cardio that's why he was a wrestler.
@@potta061nah, just meant I don't see who he beats in top 15, maybe Bobby Green? But I think he gets smashed by everyone else, would like to see him vs Drew Dober
@@haggisman0812 Tony was ranked though so shouldn’t he take his ranking position? Paddy is terrible so definitely shouldn’t be anywhere near the top 30
As a nobody who’s had a couple of amateur boxing matches I can say also that a good punch will totally and instantly sap your energy especially late in a fight. Gassing is more complex than people realise. I’m sure paddy’s cardio probably can do with some work. He was ballooning up between fights like it’s funny but if you want to be the UFC champion it’s not going to help now is it? There’s guys in his division that will fight at an insane pace and not be that tired.
@danielhancock6633 Because tony is fucking washed up and on top of that was doing that goofy goggings training. Don't get me wrong I fucking love goggings but what use does running 100 miles until you puke do for him his stamina is fine especially against pimblet. Feel like it just wasn't smart.
Tony didnt "forget". He got the shit kicked out of him in round one. That affects your decision making in the rest of the fight. Paddy might have been tired, but the work had an effect on Tony.
To be fair paddy is huge for lightweight and is very strong, everybody who works out knows there’s two types of cardio. Anarobic and aerobic, one hits the lungs and heart whilst the other is the lactic acid in the muscle. Chandler, dricus, costa, and pantoja are other examples where they are clearly tired but the muscles aren’t full of lactic acid so they can still push through but their lungs are burning
Its a fight. Get your shit together. I don’t give a shit about different types of cardio. You either got it and can push through or you dont got it and your gonna get smashed. Paddy clearly doesn’t have it. He would loose to Tiporia. Volk. And any top 10 LW at 155. Minus maybe Dan Hooker. The rest of them would eat him alive. Imagine him against islam 😂. Get real bro.
@@charlessmith3940 What are you talking about? Paddy DID get his shit together he faced adversity and won. Will he be champ? Probably not, but he’s a fun fighter to watch.
Oh you mean the man that dominated every organization outside of the ufc for years? The Olympic gold medalist? Yeah I know him his name is Ben Askren. Put a little respect on the name DORK
I think we all grown enough to know alot of things... Ben's wrestling was amazing & accomplished alot with it, he also had no striking ability and carried on waaay past his time and got met with a flying knee from god.
@@riversedgekickboxing694that makes zero sense. He walked all over Tony. So by that you’re saying Tony is a low level amateur. Nonsense take. Paddy actually looked good. Way better boxing but still not great. Did awesome on the ground against a top tier wrestler. So he got tired from trying to finish? So have lots of fighters.
@@TheBajaminOver a 39 year Tony on a 6-fight skid. If you're not finishing Tony after the Chandler execution, you're doing something wrong. Diaz and Green understood the assignment.
He’d smoke Ben askrens stupid ass too Ben talking shit like Conor needs someone easy when he did way more than Ben did just cuz he wrestled outside of ufc doesn’t mean he’s good in it. Ben is so stupid for even commenting on Conor needing someone easy knowing damn well he couldn’t beat him with his shitty wrestling and no striking experience whatsoever
@@Youssef06_ Probably not, we have a pretty good relationship with the scousers considering many Dubliners settled there and they even have the nickname "Paddys that can swim"
@@DGetsStackslet's be fair Ben could never predict someone would roll the dice of fate on a flying knee like Masvidal did. And at "that" time dude wasn't no creampuff guy whatsoever lol. Can't blame him for getting his brains mangled by a reckless wolf from Florida.
Kilonova, of course there’s always that one guy who has to bring that up as if it defines the man’s whole career. Anybody can get knocked out in a matter of seconds, anybody. Jose Aldo is a great champion and we saw it happen to him. So the Masvidal flying knee as a means to define Askren’s career is just stupid.
Paddys not the most technical but he’s always been down to scrap and gives the general fans what they want, which is entertaining fights. I was impressed with how he handled the conference and appears more down since his fight with Gordon.
I also like his personality adjustment. He seems smart enough to realize how despicable his behaviour added up and how the spotlight got to his head. Im old enough now where the 'old' washed up fighters are a decade younger than me. Paddy is a kid in my eyes, he deserves some slack.
As much as i respect Ben Askren for being one of the greatest wrestlers ever and always standing on business like a man. He shouldn't speak on striking😂. My mans needs a basic course.
Nobody wants to talk about the absoulte onslaught he threw at Tony in the first. I'm sure he was tired, probably doesn't help most his camp is spent on weight loss.
Paddy is such trash, at least he’s acting a little more humble lately though. If you wanna run your mouth the way Paddy was, you’ve gotta be able to back it up, and he’s just barely surviving these fights.
Talk shit all you want but he’s undefeated in UFC and only 3 in his whole career. So at a certain point he has skills and he’s literally backing it up. And he didn’t “barely” beat Tony. He dominated Tony.
Yea that humbling was much appreciated by most I believe. Atleast it was for me but he is extremely overrated. I was happy he basically admitted he lost the Gordon fight because he did😂
I remember the day when Rogan and “Schaub” were talking about Askren vs Khabib. They were discussing the “scrambles that would go on” Imagine the smashing that would ensue. There’s not even a chance Ben would have. Khabib is pure force, if he locks his hands, ur done. He will walk you down and submit you. End of story. Please don’t send me nasty comments on my opinion. We all love the fight game. People have their favorites
Ben was an amazing wrestler when he was in his prime. Was undefeated for a long time. By the time he was in the ufc he was done but he knew that and knew what had to be done to take care of his family, it’s actually pretty honorable he threw away his legacy for his family. It’s crazy how fast you go from people believing you’re one of the best to them saying it’s unethical to let you fight anymore. Joe either was trying to help askren get those ufc checks or like everyone else didn’t know askrens time was up.
paddys style is goated, hes no offensive grappler like ben. hes no defensive striker like tony. he has a very jon jones eske style. its called evoluting.
That dude screwed tony so bad.. imagine getting a inflated story book life person to train you and be in your corner but has no idea about fighting other than to remember his own fake stories
Paddy needs to go up a division and then see where he is going forward. The weight cuts are slowly killing him. Same with Dustin and Justin though I'm not sure any of them will carry their power up one division
Ben is actually speaking facts here, imo also the paddy connor fight wojld be entertaining bc it would be closer, if connor fights chandler ppl are gonna see how unfair that fight js, chandlet would dominate him rn
I believe paddy will be champion within a year an half. He isnt blowing people out and still winning. Most these guys k.o everyone or submit them then soon as they cant they lose.
This is what I’ve been saying!!!! He didn’t need Goggins! He’s the most durable Goggins type cardio guy their is in mma that’s like working with MJ on his fade away 15 years in 😂 of course u can always be better but he has been getting out wrestled! He shoulda went and trained with Taylor or Zain or Dake or got back into that GVMSU room cuz they just brought back the program! I think Tony would have got exposed always vs Khabib. He would have scrambled into a bad spot against the cage then got pounded out. He avoided top wrestlers some how his whole career and win streak. Then I really knew what was what when Lee took him down first round easily full mount and dominated. He just gassed second round but Khabib woulda never let him live there. He mainly beat washed out of their prime worn down Cerrones and Pettis types. After seeing Lee take him down so easy I knew snap down City was done which it was. I can’t remember that he last time he got a take down or ended up on top 😂 every single fight after JG who just smashed him on the feet he has gotten out grappled. Same thing would happen to Connor.
Tony was ontop and then let Paddy up and was immediately taken down...and Paddy didn't let him up...WHY TONY?!?! Smash, ground and pound, try to choke him out, why let him up??
That actually not a terrible tuneup fight for Conor, he does need a guy that makes sense business-wise and is very beatable. He’s going to have ring rust bad throwing him out there against a top 10 guy in either LW or WW, wherever he fights, would be tough for him. But he can’t fight a random guy outside the top-15, doesn’t make any business sense. He’s only going to do money fights, he can’t take the risk of losing to someone on the outside of the rankings, there’s no upside. A guy like Cerrone was great because he had the name recognition and was out of his prime, Nate is probably the very best fight for Conor, then if he wins can get in there against top 5 competition. Paddy is not a bad plan B to Nate.
Ben was such an accomplished wrestler that MMA fighters(good ones at that) still give him respect even though he is a total embarrassment to Mixed martial arts
I could not agree more. The fact that he couldn’t finish Tony was absolutely pathetic. It looked like Paddy’s striking improved but every time he opens up he still leaves his chin out there wide open. A wins never a bad thing but I never see this kid becoming a legit LW contender. He’ll be lucky to ever grace the top 10 and if he does it’ll be quite a while from now
I thought Paddy looked much improved. That doesn't feel fair to me. He still got caught at times but for me that had as much to do w Tony. Tony looked good to me too. If it had been 5 rds, I think Tony could have won. But Paddy didn't look bad imo. Come on now. He looked great until he got tired, and he still held on and got td and won. I felt both guys looked great imo
It’s 2027. Tony’s losing streak is now 15, and his fans are still desperately scrambling for excuses and Strawman arguments so they can live in denial about Tony having been done since fighting Justin.
People can talk all the shit they want about Ben but at least he has been there and done it. Which is far more than you can say about the horde of keyboard warriors on here.
Not for nothing i know some people arent crazy about them but this is the reason fresh and fit exist ! Entitled people act like this and fresh and fit defends those from getting taken advantave of
Everybody knows AssCream’s legacy. He got knocked out faster than anybody else ever in the UFC. Wrestling and amateur mma doesn’t mean squat in regards to the UFC lmao
He got KOd stiff in 3 seconds, He layed and prayed on some japanese cans. The only person he ever beat who could make the ufc roster is Douglas Lima. Robbie Lawler fell into a submission after beating out of and back into consciousness. I know his resume
The same could be said for Ben. He went 1-2 in the ufc and is now on every ufc highlight knockout real, he’s in the record book ls as being ko the fastest. What a complete clown
Paddy's ceiling is not too high getting that tired in a 3 round fight at 155lbs. That just isn't going to cut it against the top contenders. It certainly would not be competitive against a prime el cucuy...33 year old Tony would have hunted him down like a wounded animal
"It's different this time," has been the famous last words 90%of the time. But damn it it's hard to argue with the resilience of the housing market. Such a tricky market.
