A few times over the years I was put on the spot and asked who I thought some of the best scramblers were. I never had a great answer, so I finally took the time to put a list together.. Who did I forget?
Ben, Would love to see a video that highlighted the 7-8 scramble techniques you keep mentioning in this video. I know about a couple but would like to see others. Great stuff as always.
Ben - your wrestling knowledge is elite as was your college wrestling career. When are you going to be a Division 1 head coach? Asking for a friend. ;-)
I think he was saying he likes doing his own thing and just running his academy with his brother as he doesn’t have to deal with athletic departments and donors etc.
How about Darrion Caldwell? Spladeled metcalf than beat him again in ncaa finals with wild scrambles? All his matches were freaky and wild, always came out on top.
SOO glad you got Dylan Ness on that list. He was the very first guy that came to mind when I saw the title to the video, but I thought no way you'd have him! Yeah, he wasn't top-shelf talent, but you just never counted him out because of that scramble waiting to magically bust out from him. He was must-see every match. Few have that draw. He did.
Thanks for the commentary, Ben. Hadn't considered the variations of scrambling positions before. If you want to produce differentiated video content, you should hire a video editor to give insert clips for each of the wrestlers as you're narrating their techniques. Your match memory is pretty good, too, so you wouldn't have to sit down and filter for the clip yourself. Just tell your editor "hey go find the Jesse Delgado v. Nashon Garrett final and pull up the leg passes." Would draw a lot more viewers to your channel! Thanks!
Any chance you could start taking the audio from these videos and releasing it in Podcast form? I like to listen while I drive or work out and that would be very convenient.
Ben what’s the go fund me number or demands Flo must adhere to. We need the band back together already. Life isn’t the same. YOU CANT DO THIS TO PEOPLE!
Lol Ben always disrespects Saitiev. I believe I recall Ben listing his best wrestlers of all time (maybe on Lex's podcast?) and he explicitly left Saitiev off because there wasn't enough film on him or something. Despite the fact that there are literally more Saitiev matches on the internet than Askren matches. Ridiculous levels of saltiness from Ben. That said, he did say this list was only the last 20 years, and he did leave himself off even though Ben is probably the best scrambler of the last 20 years.
Bens back became tired from carrying CP and Flo for so long….Dont go back….they punished you too long with the likes of JD and the kid from Michigan. Flo should replace JD with a cardboard cutout of Bernie from Weekend At Bernie’s.
JD is better than those dorks Kozak, Bray, and Ollie. It should be Bader, CP and Ben. People would listen to that. Or bring Willie Saylor back. Kyle Bratke was awesome too
