Max and Ben Askren grew up in Hartland, WI; under the tutelage of John Mesenbrink, both won state titles at Arrowhead and went on NCAA Div 1 Championships at the University of Missouri. Now back in Wisconsin both are dedicated to helping young wrestlers achieve their goals.
Ben keeping it real. If I was a Coach and a kid goes into the Portal on me I’d immediately look to replace him with someone who wants that scholarship and is grateful he has one. I wouldn’t take the kid back that was leaving either. I wouldn’t advertise that at all, but it would be a consequence for abandoning the University and Team.
I think the whole NIL process was already hashed out when they approached David. He doesn't have to ask for shit. Now if he doesn't pan out in 2 or 3 yrs he will have to scrounge cash for the program (not likely)
The same logic would therefore apply that if you live in a mansion and there’s a family living there, that family is a lot better in every human way than families living in standard housing. There’s tons of wealthy people living in big beautiful homes and driving nice expensive cars, but live miserable lives. Nice experience material possessions is not what makes, a person great.
Great work! Today's open mats at North Shore was pretty great too. Watching Ben drill with Parker and the Mirasola boys was pretty cool to see. Connor and Parker scrapping at the end was really fun to watch!
IZZY AT MONTINI won so many state championships, the state forced them to go up a division. Think they won 5 or 6 in a row.Never did catch wind, what Happened at Montini?
Ben is too intelligent independent and punk rock to work for someone. He’s got all the freedom working for himself having control and putting out studs just at a young age group. And he’s stated some of this.
He doesn’t want to deal with the bureaucracy he says, and I don’t blame him. Why do that when you can run your own thing and do just as well and be much more independent?
Having a major joint that needs replaced causes all sorts of issues in your body. I'm guessing his hip replacement has allowed his body to reset and improve. But yeah... he looks buff for sure!
