Ben Bruce Leaves Asking Alexandria 

Ben Bruce isn’t just a part of Asking Alexandria, he is Asking Alexandria. Thinking of the band without him is like thinking of Van Halen reuniting without Eddie Van Halen. But absolutely understandable why he is doing this. He is a proud father now and has a family to take care of. Much love and respect and nothing but the best wishes to him and his family. Hope to see him return one day.

There’s nothing wrong with a man putting his family first. He deserves a lot of respect for doing so. Thank you for some amazing music Ben🖤

This man got me into metal, and changed my life for the better. Genuinely wish him nothing but the best. This is the end of an era, but I’m looking forward to see new stuff from asking, and how they bounce back.

AA is the band that introduced me to Metalcore back in 2015 when I was in high school. Their first three albums inspired me to pursue music. I never thought I would buy an electric Ibanez guitar, similar to Ben’s guitar, to now be in a hardcore band, being able to go to so many concerts to see Fit For An Autopsy, Chelsea Grin, and to be a RU-vidr reacting to other bands. It all started from A.A. It’s a beautiful message from Mr. Bruce, and I wish him the very best. 🤘

So I talked to my wife about his departure... Him stepping away for his family brings tears to my eyes. But this doesn't mean that he wont be part of the song writing or have an influence in AA's music in the future!! I don't think we have seen the last of him! Cheers to him for an amazing career, a loving family, AA, and a fanbase that has shown their support!!!

This must have been a massive and very difficult choice for Ben to step away from the band he invested so much in & helped to build It looks like they've really grown on a personal level and are all the better for it. I'm not really the biggest fan of AA's music but i wish all the best to the lot of them.

It's really bittersweet. Ben is the reason I started playing in bands and trying to take my playing more seriously. It was really discouraging at times to go to local shows and see all these super fast shreddy style guitar players and that's just not a skillset I had and Ben through his music was able to teach me that you don't have to be a super technical guitar player to write great metal music. I have nothing but support for his reasons for leaving and I'm glad he's at a point in his life where he is able to step away from everything and be able to support his family. Even when I didn't care for AA's newer music I was always happy for their success and it seemed like they had a lot of fun writing and playing it and that's what's really important.

I hope Ben keeps in contact with AA. That's his family as well. But being there for his first family is a real man move! That's how it's supposed to be. From a man who missed a lot of his kids moments growing up, Ben, you're making the best decision. Be there for the ones who are truly there for you and will always be there. Not your fans, not your band mates and definitely not the money. Your first family is the most important. Be easy brother and hopefully you keep in contact with your fans. Love and metal bro🤘

I get this totally!!!! I'm in no way, personally, even close to the success of AA, but when I got divorced a few years back, I realized exactly what he was saying about time. I decided to quit my somewhat reasonably successful career, and just take an hourly job at a grocery store, so I could get the schedule I wanted and spend all the time I want with my kids. I can struggle financially from time to time, but for the time I get to spend with my kids and watch them grow and make memories, no paycheck can ever replace. It's one of the best decisions I ever made. I wouldn't be as happy if it were different

A.A and Ben made such a gigantic impact on me when I was growing up. Will always admire and respect how since day 1 it was Family first for Ben.

You know what I’ve noticed about this departure? Everyone has been so kind and so sincere. Almost every comment I’ve read on different articles have said how happy they are for him and they wish the band the best, sure there’s a couple of comments about the band being dead blah blah blah. But I’d like to see where this goes for both of them. I don’t think this will be the last we see of Ben and I don’t think this is the end of asking. We’ll just have to see what happens going forward. Im glad it’s on good terms. Although I am butthurt that both guitarists from my two favourite bands have now gone their separate ways lol

I was genuinely shocked watching this video, i got into Asking the same time around i got into black veil brides.. 2008-09 i was 10-11 years old.. Ben has and will always be the heart of AA. Cant fault the man to want to dedicate his life to his kids. Im proud you mate, hope u can come back soon i want to see you live for the first time!

In 2011 i fell in love with metalcore due in large part to AA... Ben will be dearly missed. He's a more integral part of the band than any other person or thing. Best of luck to him.

Speaking personally from touring. I worked as a tech that bigger bands hired out. Usually our contract had us in hotels at least, which is leagues better than bus bunks. It's not fun after the novelty wears off, and that was almost completely midwest us. Half the time you're too exhausted to even go out and see the place your at, let alone talk with friends and family. Good on Ben for that decision.

Personally I prefer the newer AA over the old school AA. But I've had a feeling the end for them has been nearing. After this I think it is clear. It may not be over, but it is coming..

Ben is going to go do his thing, Danny should just go back to doing Harlot and solo stuff, and the rest of the guys can start a new thing or venture off into other bands. I honestly think AA is done though. Their last album was a good mix of stuff for all the fans, and a good wrap up to their discography. I as a fan though, fell off after self titled even though they were my favorite band since 2009. Best of luck to the guys.

Good summary. But what critics never seem to talk about, is how bruce poured his heart into The Black, writing every song, and he loved that album. And when Denis stepped away, Dany, (probably with reason, but still), refused to perform ANY single song on that album live, which meant to Ben that he wasted the past year and a half, and BEST songwritting the band has ever made. That must have been the hugest knife to the heart for him.

My All Time Favourite Band Ben Will be missed and Asking will never be the same with out Ben considering he writes everything I wish the best for him and family does come first It does make me curious about what any new music will sound like without Ben writing it

Never thought he would leave, despite what people think he was AA. He kept the band together and he recruited Denis Stoff, sort've as a fuck you to Danny and also make him want to come back. Crazy Danny came back and outlasted Ben.

As someone who used to listen daily, him leaving will hurt the band so much more than Danny did. They died years ago to me but this would’ve been it if I had stayed.

I remember freshman year of High School when Danny left the band. Everyone thought it was the end of AA but then they dropped The Black.

I understand why this feels so wrong to longtime Asking Alexandria fans, Danny and Ben were the terror twins together. But, I understand why its important for Ben and I truly wish him the best always. It is worth noting that the touring guitarist they've had in 2023 is a guy called Paul Bartolome, and if you go listen to his music by searching his name on RU-vid, you'll hear a very distinct similarity between him and Danny, and I think that is very integral in Asking Alexandria's future because Danny struggles to scream some parts as he has mentioned before and to even perform the older songs has been really difficult for them to figure out, which is where Paul comes into play. In their 2033 performances, you can hear how the screaming has improved live and its because the layering of Danny's vocals with Paul's vocals and I am not saying that they will go heavy again but I do believe that its important for them to have that element going forward and it does raise the chances of them releasing better music in the future. I do believe that they'll change direction, the key song writers in Asking Alexandria have always been Danny Worsnop, Ben Bruce, and James Cassells. I'd say that Ben did the majority of it so their future will be different but with Danny at the helm, the band won't sound any less Asking Alexandria.

Asking Alexandria has been my favorite band since 2010, but I stopped listening to them when Danny left the band. Until now, I haven't heard any new songs from them. I miss the old Asking Alexandria, especially the songs with EDM. 😄 old Attack attack and Asking alexandria are the best

When I talked to. Him, he was definitely 100% about his decision about leaving. He said that the timing is right and that he's needed more in other places besides AA. Bands have plenty of new talent that tags along with heavy hitters like AA. And this is just a step in a new direction. No one knows what the future holds and maybe in due time we may see him back. But, we all gotta do what we gotta do. Family always comes first. Just ask Vin Diesel.

I mean, as sad as this makes me, i get it. I mean he has been doing nothing but dedicating his life to making great music and being in the band and making great apbum after great album, he deserves the break and to just finally sit back and to enjoy what hes made for himself. Like seriously, these guys have been going at it hard for over a decade now, and he deserves to be able to finally relax and spend time with his family and not be on the road touring or making music all the time tbh. Tho, i have a feeling, like with Danny when he left and joined We Are Harlot (which if you never heard any of their stuff with Danny, you should give it a listen, it was actually good stuff imo), this wont be the last time we zee Ben. But like i said, all of these guys deserve a break after entertaining all of us the last 15 years or so.

Theyr last album is great and Danny finally taking some vocal lessons is great news. I think Ben will still get some engagement in band, but with his wife and kids he cant tour and play guitar away from home, so he lets someone fill in.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Ben still works as a writer/studio session player. They’ve said multiple times that they don’t group together to write an album. Everyone just sends in their material.

Honestly, as sad as I am to see Ben go, I’m genuinely curious to see what this means for the musical direction of the band going forward, seeing as Ben has always been the main writer. I think AA have lost their drive a long time ago and a big change like this COULD do wonders for their music. Time will tell.

I wonder if that means he's also stepping away from Paradise City. If so, definitely sucks that he's completely stepping away, but I get it. He decided to take a look at his life and what his priorities should be, and realized that things needed to change. Truly hope for the best for him in the future, maybe as his kids get older he'll be able to find more time to do music and such again

This is unfortinete, and it's understandable of course he want's so be there with his family. He had created one of my most influential bands I have listend to, from my youth.
