Une magnifique chanson...ben harper et la France il y a une belle histoire....merci pour cette delicieuse chanson...et ce magnifique morceau de guitare...😉😉
The lyrics to this song are beautifully haunting and I love the way Ben Harper sings the song. His voice breaks a little throughout the song as though he is on the urge of tears; it's very stirring and lends a vulnerability to the song that is both heart breaking and inspiring at the same time. Can't stop listening, my new favorite song! Why isn't this number one on the music charts?
I thought that the very first time i listened to his music. I grew up listening to Cat Stevens and when I met Ben I told him that! I'm sure he's heard it often. Great song!
This isn't even the first time I got sent looking for their music. Pretty smart advertising. I wandered around looking for Hem half an acre for a day until I found it. I find it amusing that there is some guy in faded jeans in some room in the basement over there listening to music all day. Nice work if you can get it.
I enjoy this song and when I first heard it on the Liberty Mutual ad and I thought, "Is Cat Stevens recording again? I thought he went radically Muslim many years ago.." So yeah, Ben has a sound reminiscent of that earlier time and it made me want to search further. The song is a beautiful expression of loss and memory.
Music markets are controlled by the consumer. If "cookie cutter bubble gum pop crap" sells then it will be number 1. Where you are in the charts shouldn't be an indicator of how good your music is but of how many people go out of their way to buy it in the stores. Good music is good music. It is everything it needs to be, but people like you and I can share these links and promote what we enjoy to the masses in our own way.
Lord, this song sucks. The way he modulates "as" in the beginning & the line that follows it made me wonder if it was Marianne Faithfull. I'm glad it's not because I've long been a fan of Faithfull. This song is so bad I was considering apostasy.
