i agree. i had a 35lb version of this bow and done a lot of killing with it. never knew what it was or just how dang old it was lol wish ida held on to it now. i miss it
It was the only commercial bow I shot for years. No sights, never took a hunting shot over twenty yards, but I hit what I shot at. I shot it on a cant, so it absolutely ruined me for the pin sight compounds to come. Bowfishing, rabbit hunting, deer hunting, just stump shooting. All the same bow. left it out in the rain, dropped it in deep snow and had to wait for it to melt to find it. It never even knew it. Loved that bow. Probably tough for the company to make money on after a point, because they lasted forever no matter what. Slowly strangled their own market.
Great video Greg! Very informative. I have two Strato Jets, a 35# and a 40#. They cost me $35 each at a Good Will Store. Not bad considering how YOU drove up the prices. LOL I shoot 600 spine GT arrows out of these bow with no problem. These bows are pure fun to shoot!
Nice video thanks. I liked it. I shoot a 337- 50 lbs for about 4 years now and getting pretty sharp with it ,nice bow havent seen another one but im in New Zealand might be why cheers for the history kiwi Carl
First bow I ever bought, got in the mid 60s and just pulled it out of a box of many at the hardware store. Only color available was drak green, seemed to shoot pretty well. Cost about 5 bucks and only came in 45lb.
I bought a Ben Pearson model 3350 green fiberglass for $10 at a flea market. It still in great condition new string on it and still flinging arrows. 60"45# but actually it's 50# when used my weight puller. Hand shock still has some getting use to. I'm fine with it though. Very good bow.
Hi Greg, nice wayback machine video. I have 3 Ben Pearson Jet bows just for fun. I got them because of your 20 pound challenge video. I bring them out for my grandkids and even my kids love shooting them.. Always fun when you have a Pearson in your hand. Be safe Ambassador. Pearson Power 🏹🏹🏹 Rick Mansberger Redmond Sports Group
I found a 50# 337 in the basement ceiling rafters twenty years ago of a house I bought. It needs a string now but the kids and I shot the hell out of it when they were strong enough.
I almost bought one a year ago, well two for 80$ and.. shipping combined would have been 150$ (to Europe) But they had cracks and I was concerned. So in the end didn't, because I wanted em as a nice does everything, masters nothing bow. And I like their form/limbs. Hope to still one day get one.
I got a pearson 50# fiberglass bow at a yard sale when i was 16 in 76 i think, It was an ugly greenish rainbow thing, for .25 cents. Shot that thing til about 10 yrs ago when i had to retire it when it started to crack. Been trying to find something to replace it with ever since. I've had custom ones made and off the rack nothing matches it, though
I got a 1961 Strato Jet Target of an unknown original lbs rating from my uncle a few months back along with some other toys. It was supposedly last strung for 50lb, but that string broke sometime before I was born in 1996. Wondering if I should try to have it strung again as my first bow, or just pass it on to an existing enthusiast archer?
What a great, fun and informative video! Found a Bear Golden Fox 60"/30 lb now for $25 at an antique store. Needs a string and cleaning...think I'll pick it up. Oh... "Availability"... (Grammar Nazi...sorry). Seriously... this is a great, well done video! Thanks!
I got from a friend his dad in the mid 2000's a 55 pound Ben Person Super Jet 62 inches or 5 foot 2 inch (we think not sure on the bow since it for enameled over before the Return of the Jedi Helmets the rebels had on Forest Moon of Endor camo job in the mid 1980's). I think this the only model that went past 55 pounds though most are 55 pounds and under. The bow is nice Though was bit much on bow for me, was a smooth shooter. in 2020 or 2019 I gave the bow to my brother due to him liking the bow when he used it and he only had a Bear Grizzly. The Bow is going to get an USA army green and Tan Camo spray paint with a matte clear coat over the paint eventually by my brother or worst case left as is but at least given two hair rests/fuzzy Velcro glued on the rests for the bow. He needs to get the new string I forgot to buy him before getting to use the bow again. The prices of the bows has gone down into below $100 for the bows including shipping so they are a good price, just not in the best of shape, need some work and looking over for deep scratches in the pictures that might be the only way to have the bow not usable.
Buen día.muy buen video veo que está bien informado con el arco recurvo y me gustaría hacerle una consulta.tengoun arco Browning modelo 3350 y está sin la cuerda.que cuerda llevaría? Gracias
Found one several years ago and it has been in my closet ever since. BP Power Jet Bow cat no 3340. 30lb model. I want to put a string on it. Can someone off some guidance on getting the correct string for it?
I have a stratojet 337 gold and white 35 lb Target what size string does it take. I realize this is a year old video the bow you're shooting is identical to what I have so I think it's a 58
I had a green and white striped one that I don't remember as being a recurve. I shot it almost every day when I was 12 and 13. What would be the proper string to buy for a bow like this?
@@3DArchery Oh, right. It may have been the 334 Power Jet that you also did a video on but mine was striped dark green, light green, and possibly white as you see here (although this isn't a Power Jet. www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Ben-Pearson-Super-Jet-335-59-Green-Fiberglass-Recurve-Bow-No-String/133547009956?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160811114145%26meid%3Ded582866fb31431d91ecfdf307609856%26pid%3D100667%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D8%26mehot%3Dnone%26sd%3D184466685519%26itm%3D133547009956%26pmt%3D0%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2334524%26brand%3DBEN+PEARSON&_trksid=p2334524.c100667.m2042
Great question and one I do not have an answer for. Not sure how that would affect it. From what I can gather it works by timing the difference between two points that are an inch or so apart. Don’t see how short of a distance between two points would cause any issues.
@@3DArchery okay does it measure the movement through a field or a a laser refraction cuz if it oscillates so fast is it actually picking up those vibrations in going into the calculation of the speed?
@@3DArchery look up slow motion video on RU-vid of an arrow in flight I've seen them Flex with some of the slow motion cameras is much is 56in and the crazy thing is it keeps a straight flight path
The arrow will fly in the direction of the Node Points. A well tuned arrow flexes as little as possible. The chronograph readers are about 2” left to right, so the will catch the arrow. Here is a kicker, on compounds they flex in the vertical plane as opposed to the horizontal due to the release
It was made from 1959 to 1966. listed as 5' in length and sold in weights from 20 to 40, in five pound increments. You will find it in the catalogs at the website "Archery Vintage and Traditional"
@@3DArchery definitely a model 336. 5' unstrung. How long should my string be? My 336 jet bow has only a 55" stretched string. Why can I find 337 and others but not this 336. Thank you again for all helpful info in my research of this particular bow. Later we can talk if you can help research a 1940ish daisy pump BB rifle.
@@hayleyharris2139 They never listed a string length, so you should buy one about 3 to 4" shorter than the bow. The 336 is listed in the catalogs at this site, just check out the years I gave, it will be under the "Jet" bows page. www.vintagearchery.org/ben-pearson---golden-sovereign.html
They called it a semi recurve. Here is a link to a collection of the catalogs. Scan through it and see which one you have. It will also list the brace height for you on most years. www.vintagearchery.org/ben-pearson---golden-sovereign.html
Oops! Fat fingers! I have a Ben Pearson fiberglass bow that was handed down to me back in 1978, it’s the Ben Pearson Power Jet Bow 334 . Haven’t shot it in years, maybe it’s time for a new string & hit the range
