Look at it this way. The quiz is obliviously designed by a leftist based on the questions. So a typical conservatives response would make them either Hitler or worse. It would be more more accurate quiz if the questions gave an option of N/A if you don't agree with the premise.
I just watched a man take a quiz for 10 minutes to determine where his spot is on a square based on questions he doesn't agree with and an answer he doesn't agree with. And yet somehow I am still entertained.
Ben was confused as to why he didn't score more libertarian, but I think the results make sense. I don't see Ben as a libertarian; I see him as a conservative who happens to have some libertarian values. Makes sense he scored fairly far right, but only slightly below the libertarian line.
A Moral Compass is the MOST IMPORTANT COMPASS. People wonder why this country is going to hell in a handbasket & yet for the past 60 years people have been kicking Jesus out of everything they can & wonder why? Where does morality come from? What is the benchmark? WHO sets the standard? John Adams our 2nd president recognized this when he addressed the officers of the first Brigade of the third Division of the Militia of Massachusetts In October 11. 1798 (This is partial but it's worth looking up!) While our country remains untainted with the principles and manners which are now producing desolation in so many parts of the world; while she continues sincere, and incapable of insidious and impious policy, we shall have the strongest reason to rejoice in the local destination assigned us by Providence. But should the people of America once become capable of that deep simulation towards one another, and towards foreign nations, which assumes the language of justice and moderation while it is practising iniquity and extravagance, and displays in the most captivating manner the charming pictures of candor, frankness, and sincerity, while it is rioting in rapine and insolence, this country will be the most miserable habitation in the world; because we have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Avarice, ambition, revenge, or gallantry, would break the strongest cords of our Constitution as a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other. WE'VE COME A LONG WAY DOWNHILL BABY!!!!!
He said porn should be illegal. He said abortion should be illegal. He said sex outside if marriage is bad. Dudes only a libertarian when it comes to shit He likes
Although I agree, I'm a registered Libertarian and I consider myself a libertarian and the quiz thinks I'm almost a perfect centrist, I'm like 1 down and 1 to the right. It's kind of a garbage quiz. Lol
I mean looking at a lot of his conservative views, they can only be enforced by a government or just larger govt. overreach. So it makes sense that he is not entirely libertarian, people like to think they are libertarians but they just want a govt. that shares their own beliefs. Give them that and they won't be libertarians anymore. Just my opinion
being auth-right doesn't mean you have to be like hitler. That's why Thatcher is also there. It's an analogue scale, it also depends how far from the middle you are, not just the quadrant you're in. And Stalin is auth left as he's a communist, and communism is auth-left
@@davidcamacho2178 we learned about them in school. The were social, national party. (from the national, nazional, comes the NAZI), and social was leftist, but national was rightist, so you could say they were center. At least presented themselves as such, their motives were actually rightist
I love how Ben and I share some very similar outlooks at times and yet he's answered most of these questions in a way which is diametrically opposite my own choice.
Sam Townsend SO true. Friedman was once presented with 14 government agencies and was asked which he would keep and which he would abolish. He hypothetically abolished 11 of the 14 agencies. He was hardly a slight libertarian.
Hitler was more of authoritarian-leftist. Thatcher was obviously center-right just like the whole conservative party in UK. Gandhi was center-right and close to line between Authoritarianism and libertarianism. Stalin was more of a far-left communist.
Ben: Why am I not more libertarian? Also ben: Clicks porn should be illegal (also wrote a book) Says sex is too open now Clicks abortion should always be illegal Clicks anything but strongly agree our civil liberties are under attack Agrees with death penalty Says sex outside of marriage is immoral
@@fallguys905 yea I'm not even religious. He's right. Sex is only for procreation the reason it feels good is to make you do it more. It should not be so public and open. It is a private intimate thing. Now don't confuse that with talking about sex. You should talk about it. If we don't then only bad happens.
Abortion is murdering innocent people. He clarified that the death penalty should only apply to extreme cases. So for example. Murder or Rape. Which is murdering degenerates (Note the differences between them.) As for porn. It has been proven that it messes with you. Men lose there respect for women. Women thing this is normal. And in the end its bad from a religious standpoint. Now if you watched the video you would know that he changes his answer on the porn one to it should be legal. That's because while he is religious and doesn't agree with it its still their right to watch that.
So basically, his answer to 'is pornography evil, and therefore to be avoided and condemned?' is yes, his answer to 'do we have a right to pornography?' is no, and his answer to 'is it the job of the state to ban pornography?' is no.
In short, 'should it be legal?' that is: is there a moral imperative that it be legal? No. But also, is there a moral imperative that it be illegal? I believe he would also answer no.
I mean at the top of the quiz it says that the questions aren't actually questions but are in fact prepositions, some of which are supposed to be vague, extreme, or moderate. They exist to cause personal interpretation. Aside from that, some of the questions are phrased in a way that sets up the test taker for sure.
The issue with the quiz is that they are phrased with language insinuating leftist values as righteous and conservative values as nefarious, more so than vague nature of the prepositions. This leads to an ineffective quiz, since the quiz taker is now very aware of how their answers will place them on the compass when that is supposed to be hidden so they will choose answers that they may not agree with just to obtain that final outcome - which it isn't even very good at placing people anyway.

This was really interesting to watch. I found myself listening to the questions and being confused by most of them that I'm not sure I would have been able to give any kind of answer.
Lets say, hypothetically, that I was in admin, and pink was in electrical, hypothetically of course. That would mean I had to pass through storage to kill pink, where red was doing a task, not that I'm saying I killed pink, only hypothetically. So hypothetically if I were to have killed pink then red would have seen me, which they didn't. Therefore I am innocent, hypothetically speaking.
I did the math, the average taxpayer pays about 4,000 a year. A taxpayer worth 2 billion pays 164 million dollars a year. You decide if that's a measly amount.
If you really want to get technical you need to weigh the cost-of-living vs income. How much is too much for an individual person to have? Should there be a limit on how much a person can make? 164 million dollars a year is a lot of money but if a person makes 2 billion a year that amount is negligible and will not affect the persons quality of life or lifestyle. Average taxpayer's quality of life is drastically affected by taxes due to cost-of-living expenses. The wealthy person doesn't feel these expenses because his income is far beyond cost-of-living concerns.
Funny how you say other people “economically evil” as if you have any moral of robbing people through the process of taxation. Funny how you voluntarily beg for a job and sudden later you are the “owner of the working places that’s own by the bosses you beg to and they are somehow ‘not moral’ to remove you”.

The problem is that a Libertarian can think something is wrong or stupid, but that doesn't mean they will interfere with your ability to be wrong or stupid. This quiz seem to equate Libertarianism with a lack of any traditional value.
It does. although libertarians as a whole don’t believe in government getting involved with personal values, we tend to be paranoid that if they can make America the most religious and biblically moral country they could easily go the opposite direction and make it the most messed up immoral country. The less control over the personal stuff that doesn’t do harm to others the better
Yeah, and honestly, that’s an incredibly flawed skewing. I’ve come more and more to realize just how much the Left doesn’t understand the Right. Shockingly, many on the Right (mostly Libertarians) seem to have at least an understanding of the reasoning of the Left. Even if they think it is stupid and disagree with it.
Username yeah but if you give the government control over telling you what is and isn’t moral it’s a slippery slope, the nazis thought it was moral to kill Jewish people for a greater good. You have to look at power from every perspective when it comes to government, our government has the possibility of changing its entire power balance and beliefs every 4 years all it would take is one president saying it’s moral to kill, rape or murder and it is possible people would believe it because “well it’s the government’s job to tell us what’s moral so it must be moral” most libertarians think like this and if the 2016 election proves anything it’s that anyone can win when put in the right position. A good way to think about it is, don’t give your government something you wouldn’t want you’re worst enemy to have, the government can be your friend one day and your enemy the next we have no reason to trust the government. History has proven governments can turn from good to bad in an instant
Alex K. Lmao . And Alex don't forget if your house is gonna be flooded due to sea level rise , just sell it . Seriously how does Ben have any credibility.
Ricochet I had to watch the video at 0.75x speed because i could not keep up with reading the question myself and him answering it (I‘m not a native speaker 😅)
The political compass test was technically designed to be vague and phrased in certain ways in order to get an honest answer again that’s how most tests work it’s to let you determine what they mean and if you agree with the statement or disagree. Just because you didn’t get the result you wanted doesn’t mean the scale is wrong, plus you did mention that you were probably Libertarian Right in the beginning again. Also I know I am super late but I just wanted to say this.
everything he says sounds extremely passive-aggressive. edit: to all these people saying he’s not being passive aggressive, i know that. i just found the way he was talking funny and joked about it being passive-aggressive in his tone. why are you guys so offended by a joke?
i like to think of politics as a spiral, or a circle. if you’ve gone far enough left, eventually you’ll find someone who’s gone far enough right and shares the same principles as you
J Woe That’s the point. Each question agrees with the point of view of one group of people. This is intentionally biased. The more you agree with their point of view, the closer it moves you to where they stand on the spectrum. Your immediate like or dislike of a statement that is biased how the test works.
Abstract art question he answered was hilarious because in my experience he is right. A lot of people will praise a banana taped on the wall or a upside down urinal as abstract art. It was hard for me to understand because abstract art didn’t mean so much to me than a detail painting that took hours to make and actually should symbolism. Obviously I won’t entirely deny that abstract art in some extent can make things look cool or nice.
Just an interesting factoid about the urinal. That was a piece created during an artistic movement in Germany and Europe called Dada art. Dada art is supposed to be "stupid" to some degree, while also commentating on social issues. The urinal was one piece that was supposed to be commenting on this exact issue that Art is no longer about skill and knowledge of the trade, but about what appeals to the crowd. Hence the stupidity of the sideways urinal.
@@vibaj16 you might call it rich idiots throwing away money. Some people might call it smart people avoiding taxes. It’s a very interesting topic. People don't understand that you can disagree with something without wanting it banned. I don't like movies that put diversity above a good plot but I don't think government should restrict their freedom of speech.
Well, I mean.... if the libertarian right looks for harm to third party/society as a factor, then... yes, it should still be banned because it's not just harmful to yourself, but it's harmful to the women, sadly the children, and even the men involved in making it.
@@mitchellanderson9324 He doesn't want it to be illegal, he disagrees that it should be banned and had a whole debate with Matt Walsh on it. The age confirmation is the problem.
I definitely dont think "religiousbeing taught in school" is necessarily agnst libertarianism. Religious being taught in school is not the same as making or wanting children to be religious. Religion is a major fact in about every culture in the world, most of ocidental countries legislation is deeply based on christianity morality. Most of the population in the world is still religious. I think being taught MULTIPLE religions(the major ones) helps understanding other ppls value, creates empathy, and gives a better understanding of humanitys history and culture. The dangerous only lies if you are being taught only one religion.

@@aliyanatif985 The thing about abortion is this. We live in a time of economical crisis, who's going to take care of the children if the parents felt like they weren't ready. I think you can take a moral stance on this without taking into account the religious side of it. For instance where he said it didn't affect third parties there's actually quite a lot of research into the women it affects and the fact a lot of pornography involves women who have been trafficked. Many of those who are involved in pornography are in abusive situations who rely on drugs and alcohol to get through a shoot, many women die because of the abuse (Pink Cross Foundation documents this). It affects more people than the screen shows.
@PresentFiction De Silva No that's not allowing people to do what they want to do, you can have your beliefs, but your not libertarian if you think something that is not negatively affecting other people should be illegal.

It's not capitalized for one, furthermore, it's missing a period. Now, this is all assuming that context is obvious in this scenario which isn't necessarily the case. It could very well be that someone is saying hi to Bob, but Eric might think that he is the one being addressed. Therefore, assuming that the context isn't obvious a correct, citation needed, version of what someone said would be as such: someone: Hi Bob.

One thing i noticed was Ben originally said that public schools should keep morality teaching out of education and that it should be the perview of the parents and then later in quiz said he strongly agreed that religion should be part of education. Interesting!
