I love how the song is called "imagine" like it wants you to just imagine for a second what things would be like if there was nothing to kill or die for, but Ben is like "really? This has been documented all the way back to his Liverpool days, and he eventually admitted it himself later in life. His first wife, Cynthia, and his second, Yoko Ono, were both victims of Lennon’s brutality at one point or another, and given that most men who regularly beat their spouses or girlfriends are not particularly discriminating about the object of their violence. It’s frankly impossible that they were the only ones. It seems clear in hindsight that the gentle icon the hippies worshipped was actually a man with very serious psychological problems who often flew into uncontrollable fits of rage, which he took out on the women in his life.

Either John is in heaven, but there is a chance you won't make the cut and be sent to hell for all eternity instead without ever meeting him, or that John is in hell (say, for violating the music-related acts of Council of Trent), which is also bad.

Listening to him creating some kind of evil message from such a directly innocent and happy song took away some points from my hope for humanity and probably years of my life...reading through the comments gave all of that back to me, thank you
Don’t worry too much about it. Ben probably understands, somewhere deep within him. He probably realises that the perfect world john lennon describes would require ben to either change or stop existing: both of which are terrifying thoughts for most if not all people.

You don't need to know how to read sheet music to have pitch, or have actual soul and emotion in your music, something Ben probably knows nothing about
My favorite part of Shapiro's attempt to lampoon "Imagine" is his deliberate choice to play the song as he talks shit about it. It creates a startlingly emotional effect. Hearing this man express his offense over the broad themes of the song make him seem like a comic book supervillain.
Fritz talented because they practiced. You don’t need to know how to read music. So many musicians didn’t know squat about music but they used their ear. Look at early blues artists. Most were illiterate but still made amazing music.
A musician definitely does not need to know how to read sheet music. I can bet you that 99% of guitarists including some of the greatest ever (Hendrix, Clapton, Page, SRV, Gilmour, Beck, etc.) do not read sheet music. This is mostly because sheet music was not designed for guitar due to complex strumming patterns, hammer ons, pull offs etc. Yet these brilliant guitarist experimented with complex chords, created completely new ways of playing the instrument, fusing different genres together, and wrote some of the most memorable songs of all time. So to say that these guys 'are not proper musicians' is being very naive. Part of music is having a great ear to work out melodies/chord progressions/ rhythms to sound great, and you definitely do not need to need to be able to read sheet music to do so.

The fact that his response to this literally proves that JUST imagining these things can send a grown man into a complete breakdown and writing up a ten minute script about the song that scares him,(if he even scripts) it’s amazing, at the same time he tries to make fun of the song the song literally gets stronger. its just so incredibly powerful when Ben puts on the song for the second time and mumbles his bile to those wonderful lyrics. It reminds me that even if the world can seem bleak and hostile some times, there will always be good in the world that we can believe in. And even if the bitter people, that emotionally withdrew themselves from the world and who say that a better world is not possible or even not worth pursuing, there will always be the beauty of it all that will drown them out
The song gives a prescription for world peace, a prescription that has never worked and has lead to millions of deaths. Encouraging people to embrace this prescription is wrong, it is also hypocritical as Lennon didn't live this prescription - he was a 1 percenter.
