It's hard to think of another song with such a powerful message. Imagine no countries, no borders, no religions, no possessions. "No need for greed or hunger, a brotherhood of man". Imagine a world, Lennon says, where ALL people live together in harmony, without any of the things that divide us and keep us from simply loving and accepting one another.

This was also used to help children in Third World Countries. The Piano itself is now owned by The Estate Of George Michael adn it's on display at a Art Gallery owned by George's Former Lover Kenny Goss. Even when they broke up he allowed him to use it.

It made you think.. which is exactly the point of the song. It wants you to consider that maybe the things you've always believed aren't the only answers. They aren't the only way. And maybe seeing the causation of our world's issues is a gentler process than we think. Just because we are prone to fear change, Doesn't mean that changing your mind is bad.

"Imagine" was written to make you think. All of the things he wanted you to imagine were all items that have/do cause controversy, that disrupt peace and equality. You got the song. If you can ever get to Central Park in NYC, go to "Strawberry Fields" and see the Imagine mosaic. It's located on the side of the park, not far from the Dakota building where he lived with his wife Yoko, seen in the video and was shot to death.

People who get butthurt on a religious level forget that this song is not a denial of those things. It's not a denial of Heaven or Hell. It's not saying they don't exist. It's asking you to suspend your disbelief. It's asking you to set aside the core concepts that govern your behaviour: how would you treat people in a world with no Heaven? Are you a loving, good person for its own sake, or are you only good to people because you hope to get something out of it when you die? That, to me, is the question of this song: if you didn't think about any of that stuff, if all we had was this one life and each other to believe in, how would you live your life? From a Christian perspective the answer to that question is not so far off the message of the Gospel: "Be excellent to each other." Okay, no, wait, that's the Gospel according to Bill & Ted, but well, you get the idea.

I was fortunate enough, in 2017, to visit Liverpool for the first time. This band was so popular and loved that, on a weekday 48 years after the band had broken up, there was still traffic backed up on any street that had anything at all to do with the Beatles or one of their songs. That was the genius of John Lennon. He was so far ahead of his time, and there was intention behind every word and every note. You should react to Beautiful Boy, it’s a gorgeous dedication to his son ❤️ my dad sang it to me every year for my birthday but changed it to Beautiful Girl. @@okteri You are right. There is an afterlife. Not everybody believes it. We should make everyday count because tomorrow is not guarantied. Live the best life you can and help others along the way. Keep away from people who drags you down.and takes away your energy. Give your best to everything you do , to make the world a better place to be. @@okteri I agree with you. A poem I found in 1988, It's called: HOPE and was written by Alan Booth - 1977. It carried me through a very hard time and I want to share it with you. HOPE Without hope there is no life, The desire for achievement is gone. Find one spark of hope in what exists, And you’ll be surprised at what can be done. Hope gives motivation in this world. It can give purpose to being alive. Hope, is a trust in the future of life, A trust that you will survive Hope is a life line of this life That provides strength when you feel alone. Just one ray of hope when the outlook is dark Can carry you through the unknown Hope is one of the treasures of life. Take hope into all that you do. Give hope to others when you can. Have hope, it will see you through.

@Xcris_Yeah, ignorance happens too. And most young people seem to be unaware of many things before their birth year. Too often I ask a millennial "did you ever hear this song or watch this classic film" and they ask when it was made, and then say "oh, well that was before my time." Really, you're going to let a year dictate your experiences?

@@v-town1980 Why knock down this young person when he's obviously branching out. I'm well aware there are those ignorant of prior generation's lifestyle and music. But that ignorance applies to all generations including your own. Music didn't magically appear in the 1960s

Beautiful song from a lovely man , if you can try giving his son Julian lennons song called salt water , a beautiful song ,and he sounds exactly like his father they were estranged since Julian was a baby but he definitely has his fathered talen,thanks from Liverpool uk x
