I think you put the vacuum hose on the inlet cover. The filter to the right is where you should be attaching the vacuum going off the other videos I've seen.
After some review and reconsideration, I stand by my choice. There is less airborne dust higher up in the cabinet cuz gravity. And you're not trying to evacuate the dust just the air pressure introduced by the compressor.
