Some people think humic acid is snake oil but, I dunno man. All I know is I sprayed it monthly since March and my lawn looked better this season than last. You Utah guys have access to some nice lawn products, I wish I could get that bag in CA.

It works wonders for that clay. Us Utahns would love to keep all the snake oil 😂

Hi. How often would you advise applying Humic Acid to a lawn that sits on clay heavy soil? Thanks
@HomegrownHowTo
@HomegrownHowTo 4 месяца назад
I do it every time I apply. Humic is great that you can’t over apply it so I go crazy with it lol. My soil is also heavy clay so I know the struggle!

My lawns ph is 7.9. Will monthly use of humic acid bring my ph down to that target range of 6.5?
@HomegrownHowTo
@HomegrownHowTo Месяц назад
Not necessarily, you’ll want to use acidic fertilizers and or sulfur. Avoid adding calcium.
@beri232
@beri232 Месяц назад
@@HomegrownHowTo my calcium level is already high, so definitely not adding that. I was going to throw down some elemental sulphur and some citric acid but my sulphur content is also quite high in my soil analysis.

@@beri232 interesting. Do you have clay soil? Because I do as well. My PH is borderline high and calcium levels really high. Pretty sure it’s a common issue with clay soil. Not a ton to do about bringing the calcium down significantly in this case.
@beri232
@beri232 Месяц назад
@@HomegrownHowTo my clay content dits at about 28% for my soil according to my test results. Yours must be similar I’m guessing

Hi from Salisbury, England, UK. Please don't take this as a 'Hater' comment. Stop putting sand on your lawn if you have clay soil. The sand causes a lawn to dry out quicker, which if you have clay soil sounds good as it dries up the surface water. Your grass will do well for a few years BUT................ The sand works its way down and due to the Humic Acid (Humate) breaking the clay temporarily, the sand surrounds the clay. It rains and clay particles adhere to sand particles, then on drying you get a concrete like soil. I know because a friend had a beautiful lawn on clay soil for around 4 years. It went pale, then straw like, then barren. He had to have 2500m2 lawn excavated out and tonnes upon tonnes of soil put down. Humic Acid, Seaweed, Silica and Iron 'YES'. Sand........'NO'. Have a nice day y'all.
