I trained on the R44 & have now transitioned to the Cabri. I love this machine. I’m far from in the ‘Robinsons are dangerous’ camp - they aren’t, but I am keen on the safety features of the Cabri. The seats, the fully articulated head with anti ground resonance gear, the MLI & auto carb heat all make for a reassuring feeling of being looked after.

I was impressed with his comments on adjusting to which peddle is the power peddle when switching between helicopters with CW and CCW rotor systems. I've talked to some helicopter pilots that claimed to have problems with that and it was something I never quite got. He mentioned that he finally got to the point where he realized that he just has to do with the peddles whatever he needed to, to point the nose where he needed it to go. In other words, "fly" the helicopter!

I believe I was the 270 lb guy that Chris was talking about!!!! I just went on my discovery flight with him this morning and ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!!!! My adrenaline was WOW words can't describe how amazing that felt. Thank you again Chris for that opportunity as I figured it would be out of the question because of my weight!!!!

I got to fly a Cabri a while back. I was very impressed with the amount of room there was. And the layout of the avionics. You don't have to shift your CG just to change a radio. Haha!

At 6’5”, 260 I fit in the Robbie comfortably. Haven’t gotten the opportunity to sit in a Cabri yet but looking forward to it someday.

At 5'11" I had to take the head pad off of my headset to fit in Robbie. :-)

Maintenance is a huge one! Only 3 components have a hour limit, engine, main GB, and tail GB. Everything else based on condition. Seriously reducing costs per hour over the robbie.

Then why does every place I see a Cabri charge more per hour than the Robbie?

@@lookingforwookiecopilot Likely due to the initial cost of a new G2. Often flight school purchase used low hour robbies as they are much cheaper than brand new. The G2 is still new here in the states and many original owners are not selling them, so flight schools purchase brand new and until they pay off the bird likely increase the hourly rate to pay for it. In the long run the G2 will be cheaper to operate, just more up front costs to deal with.

@@10fantic The schools I used to rent from often got newly overhauled 22s, but I think they leased them. Maybe in ten to twenty years (when the next generation of pilots starts training) the Cabri's hourly cost will finally come down?

Helicopter fan here... so of course I love your channel. Quick question unrelated to this video, but one I've never seen discussed: does the exhaust from turbine engine helicopters (Bell UH-1, Bell 212 etc.) contribute to forward thrust of the helicopter?

Great question. I am not an expert on this topic but from what I understand there is a small percentage of some thrust from exhaust but nothing that is noticed or controlled.

I have yet to take a flight in any Helicopter, Having seen videos to learn how to fly,they tend to be R22. Seeing the Cabri with traditional cyclics... I recently saw a video of a young lady learning;was shown that she could change frequencies with buttons on the cyclic. I'm 5'10.5" was an inch taller(called myself 6'). What Ipad(?) you would recommend for GPS etc.?

Just be attention to right pedal! On transitional to hover, if is a brise can enter in similar effect of LTE, due the need of suddenly power needed....and the movement on the pedals are much more compared to conventional tail rotor system. Once was approching a top a hill and was hovering to land , wind quits, and had to put full right pedal! And go around! Throttle is tricky on autorotation ALWAYS make sure full roll the throttle to iddle, otherwise when u start put collective gov enters due the mechanical gov ! For the rest is amazing machine! 150hr on it! 😊
