Hopefully they add as many domestic Dutch planes as possible. It feels kind of lazy that they leave out so many aircraft that could and should be added.

I agree, it's more belgium than dutch even tho the netherlands were more active with their airforce.

France operated Meteors too (NF 11s). Gaijin in their infinite wisdom, never had the idea to add it. A double Koolhoven (French one + NL) could have been cool. But guess that's too much modelling. Belgian F16 kind of makes sense given it was kitted with french EWS-16 + magics + AS30L (Gaijin where are my Magics). That would be if Gaijin added the stuff on the F16. Reminds me that France had more M24s than CN +ITA + JP combined. 2nd largest M24 fleet in the world. None ingame. :/

When tech subtrees are added, the first things added are going to be copy pastes. It takes too much labor to do all of the unique vehicles and planes in addition to the normal uploads. And that goes for aircraft skins too.

Also, 1/3rd of the population only speak french, so I'm kinda pissed as to why we are put with the french as the majority of the benelux is dutch speaking and is excellent in english. Although I do understand the balancing

I am literally from Antwerpen and i would rather be put with the french than the british, literally barely anything in common with the british meanwhile the belgian and french militaries work closely together, belgium is not an english speaking country, we can speak english but that does not make us an english country.

Seems like it would've been the obvious thing to do for one of the F-16s to be Belgian and the other Dutch. Though what I'd really like to have seen was more actual indigenous aircraft. Like the Fokker S.14 Machtrainer for a low-tier jet fighter, since it could mount a gunpod on the belly with a pair of 20mm Hispano and could carry rockets or small bombs under the wings. And the Fokker D.XXIII, a pusher-puller prop fighter with a pair of 13.2mm Browning (same gun as the Swedish Akan m/39) and a pair of 7.92mm Browning. Would've been a lot more interesting than a copy-paste Firefly, at least. Or even copy-pastes with interesting modifications. For example a Dutch Hurricane Mk I armed with 4x 13.2mm Browning instead of 8x Browning .303 on the British version. Heck, they could've even just copy-pasted the Fokker G.I by also including the prototype that had 2x 7.92mm and 2x 23mm Madsen cannons for its forward armament, but with weaker Hispano engines. Along with the Fokker D.XXI, which already has the Finnish version in the game. Since you know, it's actually Dutch.

A pity it wasn't the MirSIP upgrade. Which added canards, CCIP, and a laser designator to the 5BA. (Though only to some of them, because Belgium didn't have the budget to upgrade the entire fleet.)

not like it would have had a lot for an independent only the netherlands had a domestic aircraft maker (Fokker) and the basically only operated from 1919 to 1940, with most of their military models being biplanes, offering only a few monoplanes and many being only prototypes (for monoplanes, only the D.XXI was a real success, which is weird why it isn't in the line when we already have it in game) after that it's all foreign import planes, and i don't believe they used that many planes belgium did have some local aero designer,s but none with the capacity to furnish an air force, so while Renard made some interesting planes, again prototypes, so it's all imports, and not too many models (realistically the only "new" plane they could bring is the Fairey Battle, which was a death trap) anb ofc, luxembourg, had no air force so that's moot maybe the ground tree could be more furnished (especially with FN's lineup) but there are countries that had small heavy weapons industries, and imported most of their armour, without much of note in variants their best bet at being an "independent" tree would have been to have them folded up in a generic "western european" tree with Austria and Switzerland as all 5 countries didn't really amount to all that in air and ground contributions do development in the grand scheme of things (i know belgie with FN and switzerland with MOWAG made a bunch of stuff)

the reason larger countries like USA, Germany and russia don't get sub trees is because the point of the sub trees is to give minor nations more vehicles for lineups and where there might be holes in the main tech tree

@sturmoviksunday I am fully aware of the rationale. However, the disparity between larger/"big 3" nations and "smaller" nations is not clear. The USA and Germany have just as many holes in their trees as pure France and Britain have. Meanwhile, other nations with actual problems, like Japan and Israel, still don't have sub trees. It's not even clear why Sweden needed a Finnish sub-tree. It gave them more to choose from, but there weren't really any gaps in the tree unless you think that every nation absolutely needs 5 lines, which is arbitrary and illusory in the same way the rank system is.

@@Zealot2024 I agree i think sub trees are also just to give players of a nation more tanks to choose from. For the problem of japan and israel, the issue is there aren't many nearby or reasonable countries that would work as a sub tree

(basically just venture on the international/EN forum for a while, you will find solutions) Or just add Greece instead :)))) acually much more logical than the Dutch given France and Greece are longstanding Med allies

Hey, we got a free naval vessel with this patch: the legendary Crying Dutchman! Jesus, we haven't gotten the patch yet, and the comments are already "clogged" with petty complaints.

If they had Benelux ground forces in France, it could give them a lot more recognition. Sadly, the lower tiers are not very good, even though the mid to high tiers are fun and really good. Including Benelux ground forces could help make climbing the rest of the tree easier. Germany doesn't need this boost, as it's already one of the most popular tech trees in the game.

Does anybody remember the old name for Belgium? The Spanish Netherlands. Which were a cause for war between France, the Hapsburgs, and the Dutch for over 200 years. And before they were the Netherlands, Spanish or otherwise, they were part of the Duchy of Burgundy, a powerful rival to the French Valois Dynasty. During the Cold War, France and Benelux were NATO's fall-back defensive line, and collectively, the second echelon of reinforcements after Reforger, meaning a high possibility that the forces of these countries would clash with the Soviets as a single Corps. Gaijin isn't about filling "needs" when it comes to subtree assignments. It's about historical immersion. South Africa and India are in the British tree because of their intense military cooperation in WW2. Thailand was Japan's ally during WW2 and is in their tree. Australia fought as an ally of the USA in Korea, Vietnam, and Afghanistan, and therefore is their subtree. Argentina was heavily influenced by German designers who fled there after the war (including Kurt Tank, who finally developed the Ta 163 Huckebein there as the I.Ae.33 Pulqui), and therefore they're in the German tree. This historical method isn't a perfect criterion (or even non-hypocritical) since many countries will not get subtrees (like Canada) because of their size or are plainly too difficult to properly integrate into other countries for various reasons (Gaijin's "Poland Problem").
