Peyaj diye mosur dal (mushur/masoor), or Bengali orange-lentil soup with a flavouring of onions and panch phoron (a Bengali five-spice mix), is probably not something you would make on a weekly basis, mainly because it is not as versatile and neutral as a regular Bengali mosur dal (you know, the one with a kaalo-jeere-green-chilli tempering?), but it provides a nice change of palate once in a while. Like most Bengali dal recipes, this one is easy and straightforward enough to take no more than 15 to 20 minutes of your time.

I always thought of thanking you guys, but never found a good way to do this. I came to US for higher studies without any knowledge of cooking. Bong Eats' simple Bengali recipes helped me not only to survive but to taste home like food away from home. I appreciate that you guys post recipes of Bengali cuisine which can be prepared with ingredients which are available in other nations as well. Keep up the good work! 😊

I was brought up in Bengal and had enjoyed a lot of Bengali food. It's been few years that I have shifted to North Indian and was missing Bengali food for a long long time. I tried most of your recipes at home it really tastes amazing. It feels nostalgic Thankyou so much

Love your channel... just because of your presentation... trust me...even the grt chefs never give the amount of salt or sugar to be used...as taste varies...even the temperings you use for everyday cooking, varies in every household...I will never change those seeing your channel...but the presentation is awesome... it's no less than watching a movie to me... vegetable chop recipe was something to die for... similarly I am waiting for the recipe of your fish chop...the I will get it I will think my wish fulfilled...

Tried quite a few recipes of dal, a few of them north Indian, where the ladies, young or old, boast of super quick and super tasty dal and they are not too far from being right. BUT THIS RECIPE TAKES THE CAKE, IN ALL DEPARTMENTS 😊. YUMMY, EASY AND YUMMIER !!! I JUST GARNISHED WITH SOME CORIANDER LEAVES IN THE END. OH, HEAVEN. 😊
