Tim Conway and Harvey Korman were one of the top comedic duos in show business and it's a shame that they don't get the credit that they so richly deserve.
@@JakeSteele2011 yup. We've lost our sense of humour. Everyone is so tense and ready to be pissed off. These were better times in lots of ways. 💓 the 70s !! 💃
He cooks Harvey Korman's hand and even flip's it over to get the other side done. The other skit where he find's Korman's contact lense and puts in back in his eye is hilarious.
For heaven’s sakes, get a life!!! Can no one just enjoy the sketches or do we all have to stay within our own culture, color, country so we don’t offend?.?
Laverne Resler Unfortunately, some people cant enjoy anything anymore because they’re too busy being offended. And because they don’t enjoy anything, they can’t let other people enjoy it too. I’m with you though. I say to hell with them. The rest of us won’t let them ruin our good time. Love this show. Always have. 😆👍🏻
You just need psychological help. GET PROFESSIONAL HELP, and your the one that needs a life. When people are happy in their lives they don't seek out others to attack. You are blaming others for what you feel inside about yourself.
It was the 1970's,seems from the 40's-then American "comedy" bashed Japanese,Koreans,Chinese and Vietnamese ppls. Wonder if Harvey and Tim ever apologized for this ?
Jakob kell I hope not. I’m sick of people apologizing for things like this. Apologizing is NOT the same as never doing whatever it is. I’m certain that this was not intended to be racist or insulting in any way. It was just a scene that allowed Conway to use his skill at physical humor. (There is nothing funnier than a clumsy person chopping things with a knife. :) ) If they were asked about it, I hope they said that, at the time, this was not considered racist and you can’t hold people to the standards that were developed 30 years after the fact.
@@EtzEchad Do Orientals actually speak and behave as Harvey and Tim acted ,the answer is no,so it is racist unlike Carol as Charo's mother sketch because Carol was imitating one person and her specific speaking and mannerisms
They're not speaking any language, it's comedy jibberish. Sid Caesar was great at it on his sketch show in the 50's, doing Italian characters or whatever nationality was called for. And if you're going to fuss and fume over a comedy sketch that's 40+ years old, wow ... better avoid all classic TV like the plague, because it's bound to be offensive to your sensitive mind from time to time.
@@eduardo_corrochio Well, but today's standards for some it is not merely comedy, its cultural appropriation, insensitive and offensive racist stereotypes. One might even say verbal aggression. ;)
@@pitdog75 Clearly stereotypical and offensive; it's also a sobering reminder of a time when this sort of humor was the everyday thing and totally acceptable. Some people would have this removed from RU-vid for being racist; others believe it should not be censored or erased because that's essentially pretending that this behavior never happened.
Totally hilarious 😂 Today they would be canceled and would be demonized and accused of being racist. They'd never work in Hollywood again and their families would suffer as well just because they were related to them. Dang I miss when people could make a joke and it not ruin their lives.
You're right. No jokes are allowed today. No comedians are working anywhere, no comics are left actually now that Obama had them all executed. What a side time to live, the Era of Afterjoke. Keep your head down of the leftists will come for you too. This is the truth, Fox News told me so.
Tim was doing a version of the closing tune Carol always sang to the camera/audience at the end of every episode ("I'm So Glad We Had This Time Together..."). It was a trademark thing she'd do. And then she'd tug her earlobe as a greeting sign to her grandma watching at home.
I was curious myself, and the name sounded just like classic movie entertainer "Ruby Keeler" so I looked her up ... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ruby_Keeler There must be an inside joke there or something.
Might have been funnier if tim just said "Ah, So" throughout! I sent this to my friend in TOKYO. We've been to Benny's -I'm afraid it's a bit insulting ?
now these were smart, perfectly good, rich, cultured people. surely they must've known that this was offensive and just didn't care because they thought it was funny.
@@cargo_vroom9729 Change "someone" to "anyone." As in, "I don't think that they knew that 40 years later ANYONE would think a sketch about an incompetent chef was offensive..."
white guy in face paint doing a ridiculous oriental accent, seems even the CB show had racism sketches, funny how Korman was Jewish and Jewish folks would hate a sketch of a big nosed yarmulke wearing Yiddish banker going " Oy ya Goy vhere's my money ?"
@@festushaggen2563 Simply calling out the truth about racism even if comedic legends try to pretend otherwise. Pat Morita would have called 2 white guys portraying Japanese as " Ahsos" Compare this skit to John Belushi as a Samurai cook
@@jakobkell7212 Full Godwin already. Wow. And you knew Korman had done sketches with Jewish stereotypes but still made a post about how he would supposedly object to exactly that. Again, Wow. Cognitive dissonance is a helluvadrug. I think you need to sort though some things in your own head before you go arguing with me. Good day Sir.
@@cargo_vroom9729 I know Jewish folk are the biggest hypocrites while you deny it. Ivanka Trump converted to Judaism and preaches equality yet own sweatshop labor.preaches and yet backs her pos father' who by the way would rape her if he could, but at least he's honest about being a lowlife and doesn't pretend. Get a clue that this sketch isn't funny but offensive towards all Orientals and done by a hypocrite Yid and his lackey.. I respected Tim as a comedian until this.
