With your knowledge, experience and just plain good common sense it would be great if you did yearly episodes on your recommendations on airguns to get by price point, type of use (ex. hunting vs plinking), etc... I find your reviews more informative and objective than any just about any of the other reviewers.
Great video, what a difference removing the spring on the middle pin. I was to remove only the center pin and remove the spring. Watch that little C clip it can jump into an alternate universe if you are not paying attention.
This one has me wishing RU-vid had a love button. Coming from a bench rest and precision background, I'm an admitted trigger snob. And that's one reason I don't own any Crosman/Benjamin guns and another reason I love my anemic p-17 even being somewhat of a hot rodder. In fact, a trigger mod was one of my first experiences taking apart an airgun. In my gen 1 Gamo whisper with it's theoben style trigger, I did a similar mod, eliminating the first stage spring and adding the rc bearing and a longer seer engagement screw.
I’m also a trigger snob, I only run Geissele Automatics triggers in my ARs, ALG Defense triggers in my AKs, Volquartsen triggers in my Rugers, and Gray Guns triggers in my Sig Sauers, meaning I have multiple of each. I say all of this to hopefully build a bit of rapport with you as a fellow trigger snob and you hopefully have a bit of faith I do know what I’m talking about and I’m not just window shopping online and then commenting as if I’m a Delta Force Commander Chief Governer POTUS with all forms of lead slingers. So, assuming you have a bit of faith that I can judge a triggers worthiness and value and usability, I want to address your comment stating you own no Crosman/Benjamin’s because of their lacking triggers. I encourage you to pick up a Benjamin Marauder/Armada and have yourself a pull on its trigger. It’s quite beautiful and a lovely bit of machining, particularly for a sub $600 air rifle. Also, the Benjamin Trail NP XL .25 cal break barrel air rifle has promise. The stock trigger is pretty crap but for a measly $30 plus a couple bucks shipping you can purchase an aftermarket trigger (the only one made, Google it and you’ll find only it) that turns a trigger frown upside down.
@@Critical-Defense I should have specified, when I referenced cross/Benji's I was referring primarily to there break barrels and some of their pneumatics. As far as pcp's, in my book, if they can't break under 2lbs or have any 2nd stage roll that can't be tuned out without mods, it doesn't even rank as a shooter.
Hey JC I wanted to thank you for posting this video. I performed the spring removal per your suggestion and used some triple ought steel wool to polish up some of the bearing surface. The trigger is 150% better. Thanks so much bud and I just recently subscribed. In gratitude I'll order a hat or something off of your website. Take care.
I tried the way you provided, and it's really cool that I can contact you about putting it back together. I did what you said and replaced sping to a more durable clothespin spring, and wouldn't you know it .. I shot a hole through my house with brick siding and into my neighbors house witch is lucky considering it was the starter house. Then after throwing things around because it was not working. They finally got the 12 gauge out of my hands and went back to working on this mess. I am still waiting on the return of my Mossberg.
Hi JC, great work but just for those who know, it's a job with little margin for error, as you mentioned several times during the video. this service is essential in most simple airguns., where the triggers are too heavy, Keep up the good work my friend, all the best. Cheers
Thank you so much Sir. Thank you for Share your knowledge . Very kind of you. All done. The trigger feel so Smooth now. Feel like a totally different gun, Benjamin should pay you For this improvement. I only put out one pin , (The middle one hold the spring) The spring fall off. Also I added two little nylon washer, To keep the trigger part stay in the middle. Next, I’m going to order a new trigger screw on your webpage for my Gamo swarm magnum Gen2. Thanks again. Btw: English it’s not my first language. I’m still working on it……
Wow! Removing that 1 spring makes it a completely different airgun! Then, take it apart again, polish all contact points, reassemble and again, it's like a different airgun! Serious quality of life improvements! Thnx man, I liked my 2 Mark IIs before, now, I really like them.
@@AirgunDetectives just got done putting 250 pellets downrange. No big deal, except, prior to your trigger job fix, I'd quit shooting after about 100 pellets. Trigger finger would get fatigued. This is no longer a problem! 6 down to 3lb pull is a wonderful thing!
Nice one 😎👍👍👍 another save of the day! Only minus is with out sping tension the M5 screw on trigger (talking about UM Trevox) makes trigger wobble and if not pushed up by finger safety cant be set. Just to add what i did i took spring out and held it slightly compressed in pliers then heat it up with small blowtorch literally few second and spring tension just dies you can feel it, as soon as that happened dip in cold water and there you go same spring but with half resistance. Plus longer m5 screw makes it perfect. Oh and you can adjust m5 screw with out gun being under pressure. Just tightening scred untill safety stops sliding. Thanks for you help and advice this made a huge difference 😊
Great stuff as always, JC. Thanks for my next project. LOL I just cleaned up the trigger on the new Beeman underlever bullpup by swapping a spring. Really smooth and now 3lbs. The best bullpup for southies. The front cocking lever action is smooth and awesome for keeping your target picture while cocking. Perfect for hunting applications. I think you would enjoy it!
Just bought my Benjamin Trail NP Mark II Air Pistol and after a few dozen shots its setup was pitiful. You need to shoot with a rest, clamp it in and pray you hit something cause the trigger pull it outrageous. It WILL pull left or right depending on which hand you shoot with. I used both and each had the same results. So off to the internet I go in search of changes that can be made to the pull and found this video. I am fairly competent so I watched the video, took notes and then tried this change. The hardest part to that fix was getting the safety and spring figured out. Took the pistol back out and tried again and a BIG difference. 6+ lbs. on any trigger is too much and I don't have the fancy trigger pull measuring but regardless, this fix WORKS. Thanks!
Awesome trigger thanks to AGD. You took a great gun and made a awesome gun out of it. Your words. You have made a old man a kid again. Both Benjamin NP and Umarex Trevor are shooting awesome. JC thanks for your videos.
This was an extremely easy modification to perform. I in fact polished the entirety of the trigger assembly including the housing. I also swapped out the pre-existing trigger tensioning spring for a lighter one. I now have a 2.22 lb single stage trigger with a 3/16 of an inch trigger travel. This has turned out to be a very nice Body Mod & Build by Bill 😉🤨🇺🇸💯‼️
This worked great. I flipped the spring around so its just hanging on the pin with no tension, since it is acting as a spacer to center that sear bar or whatever it is. Working great and much better to shoot, 500+ shots since mod so far, Thanks!
FANTASTIC mod! Thank you! Be sure safety is properly positioned over the spring during reassembly. Mine fell out. Good thing I took pictures as suggested in the video. Also, it would be a good idea to have extra retaining rings in advance.
So i just did the spring removal. In addition i added a spacer to the end of the adjustment screw so there's no space. This is a hair trigger now. For anyone wanting to do this make sure the safety spring ends up back in the center slot of the handle/stock when reassembling. Thanks for the advice. This is much easier on the finger now.
If anybody wants to do it the easy way that spring he tells you to replace just snip those ears off so we can they can rotate inside also you can also put oil in 2 spots what are you looking at it's a three- arm linkage firing system like a High Point just put a drop of oil in the front part and the back part of the linkage arms where they meet also put three drops of oil on the rivets the hold assembly together just like a real firearm wipe it all clean and put back together
Hi. I did this mod within 10 minutes of watching your video. It took me about 15 minutes ( including finding the tools!) The gun went from dangerously unpredictable and a poor shooting experience to brilliant. Thanks for the tip, it's great. If only the gun lived up to it's claimed power. Maybe you have a mod for that too!! Thanks. Russ Clark 👌
Great stuff I'm a watch repairman by trad so I know how to fiddle with small things, the idea of taking pictures is a great idea one I've used for years now but the trigger on this not me I know my limitations
I wonder if the previous model has the same trigger setup. I will certainly check it out, or you just gave me an excuse to buy this pistol 😂. I appreciate your vids 👍
Bravo, muchas gracias por el vídeo. Tengo una Np2, y el cambio de gatillo es genial, solo me he limitado a quitar el muelle y ya se nota muchísimo. Un saludo desde Valencia, España.
I appreciate all your efforts, but I've seen MANY tweaks on trigger-tuning of firearms where the person just did it -- right on camera. Are there some regulations by airgun mfrs or YT that are preventing you from such a video?
Hi JC, thanks for the follow up on this pistol. You rated it @ 4 1/2 *'s originally with the 6lb. trigger. Would you give it 5*'s now? I want one, is it manufactured in US, China, or EU? Or US with foreign parts? I want to support free nations. Thanks. Good vid by the way, will do a complete trigger job thanks to you!
Just did my gun! Oh man what a difference. Thank you so much!! I was wondering if there should be some washers or spacer on the part the spring came off to center it. Let me know if you think it might be a good thing. But right now, it’s back together and working GREAT!!
Watching the intro - now I have to have a cigar! New to hobby question - Does a hard trigger become more relaxed with much use? This might be my 1st air-powered mod, thanks for this publishing!
@@AirgunDetectives Arrived today - thought I’d give 1st impressions. Yep, it’s heavy, and as you mentioned, it’s a lot of gun for the price ( $107 - I don’t see how they can build them for this low price - if I had to do a blind guess, I’d put the price around $150+ ). Trigger seems to be OK for me (trained to shoot with middle finger on trigger, index/forefinger along the barrel for stability - not the best for revolvers and heavier / longer barrels). I played guitar most of my career, so maybe my fingers are stronger than average. The most difficult part for me is breaking the barrel, however the actual pump is easy. Thanks again for your reviews!
HI JC, Thank you for this trigger tip. I am also having hard time with it's trigger for sometime and and so, I am thinking of removing the spring. On another topic, I can't seem to find a 15mm dovetail reflex scope for this PBN17. Would you know where I can find one? Thanks again. Keep safe and all the best!
Yea. Taking pics is surely a good thing. Can easily then also help others too with things afterwards. Many can be a bit worried to F up their stuff when disassembling for the first time. Pics help often out explaining things so much better and easier. Personally would though not bother to buy one of these just to get to disassemble one for modding. Surely a nice pistol - but not really for me.
Do I have to remove the pins in a specific order? Any tips for reassembly? I need to take the piston out so I assume I have to remove the whole assembly... 😬
This looks very simple. You do not have to take everything apart. Remove those 2 pins and then remove the spring. I think it's going to be very easy. 😉👍
Can you send me a friend request from your break barrel equipment area so that I may be able to purchase certain things also wondering if you take money orders cuz I don't have a credit card thank you if you could help me
I have question : Your opinion ... can this gun be used for pest control such as mice or small birds? what is the maximum distance you suggest to do it? Thanks...
