He wrote this song for a girl whose family was DEVASTATED by their father suddenly ditching them in poverty and he helped those kids through it. The 16 year old was the most crushed and this song was for her and them. It’s not a sex based song. He paid all three kids weekly just to do little errands for him. It’s a BEAUTIFUL song❤
He wrote this song for a girl 16yrs old that was devastated by dad ditching family a song that he could take her into the night and make, passionate love to her? Best he left the song without a wacky explanation.
it truly burns me up how ppl ASSume that this is a paedophilia song. Judge much folks something to hide . He got the inspiration from a story. Let me know how many of u can create ART in 5 or less
He died on June 29th 2020 and he's not suffering anymore because God took his pain away from his body and his music was so much different than any other music I listened to back in the day and God bless his talented soul😭💔😭B.M. 1946-2020
I grew up in Syracuse, Benny Mardones was and is legend. This was played at every dance, at every prom. This was THE SONG. He wasn't widely known, but there is no mistaking that voice. He's gone now, but never forgotten. He made Syracuse his second home, and they love him, even now. Go to Syracuse sometime and say the name Benny Mardones. This was talent, this was a voice.
I can't tell you how much I love this comment. I also live in Syracuse and I was 15 when I went to my first Benny concert. I'm 58 now and I couldn't begin to tell you how many concerts I've been to. Benny was an amazing person who had an amazing voice. I met my best friend at that concert and we are friends to this day.
This song gave me chills 40 years ago, the first time I heard it, and it still does today. Benny was one of a kind, who will forever hold his unique, never to be duplicated spot in the music industry. What a voice.
An absolutely beautiful and equally controversial song. Timeless, romantic and brutally honest. Cutting edge and bravely written and performed. Even though the meaning, supposedly, is very different than from what anyone would think.
Amazing he didn't blow his vocal chords singing like that all the years he lived. . Real class act and talent. You can tell he always wanted to put on a A show for the fans no matter how big or small the venue was. Hitting notes as you get older is difficult because your vocal range isn't the same as when you were 20. Amazing raw talent. One of the best. He was great human being with a big heart. RIP Benny. We lost a great talent.
If I were ever granted 3 wishes.... one wish would be this: It's 1:43 in the morning ,there"s a smoky, nondescript, karaoke bar, on the edge of town. It's full of friendly, fun loving people. Some are finishing their drinks, everyone is laughing together, having and enjoying the sultry, summer air. While the patrons are discussing their late night plans, a women is finishing with her rendition of Sade's "Smooth Operator" The bartender yells out "last call" Nobody notices, when I walk in by myself and up to the stage. The man at the karaoke machine asks "what song buddy?" I reply how about "Into the Night" , Benny Mardones A couple minutes pass by while I stand there holding the microphone. Then the song begins. At first nobody pays attention but then I belt out "Sheeeee's just 16 years old, leave her alone, theeey say" Everybody stops what they are doing and become fixated on the stage. For 4 1/2 minutes, I'm able to sing this song and sound exactly like Benny, note for note. As the song ends, every person in the audience goes wild and gives me a roaring, standing ovation.I set the microphone down on the floor, I walk out of the bar.......and into the night!
I was 26 when this song came out. It was timely. I was dating a 16 y.o. girl at the time and was so in love with her and so heartbroken when we had to end it. I would listen to this song and remember it raining outside and thinking it was the end of the world. Im 68 now but I still like the song and it immediately reminds me of that time in my life like it was yesterday.
@@ericdraven7185he wasn’t! My God, do some research before defame someone. You need to go seek out real pedophiles & there’s a lot of them. This guy ain’t it! 🤦♀️
It's Heartbreaking for all of us fans who have the opportunity to remember him for his music and Benny Mardones will be sadly be missed by all of us fans and I'm still heartbroken and in shock that I found out what happened to him and he has been gone for a month already and he may rest in peace forever and ever
Not only is he still blowing the roof off with that incredible voice but he still has that awesome 1980s hair. An incredible performance of an incredible song. Thank you Benny!
Audrey Ann. Unfortunately no. This must be an old video because currently he suffers from Parkisons and shakes uncontrollably.. He sang this song with the Parkisons but he is definitely declining health wise. In this video, he appears very strong so I know this is at least 15 years old..
@@prettyyoungthingpyt5015 Yes I wasn't sure when it was but j didn't know he had Parkinsons. This song is by far one of the best. I even like the video , even though it's a bit cheesy lol I like it! Thanks for the information. 🤗🙂😁
Nobody sings songs this good live! I LOVE HIS VOICE! What a BEAUTIFUL song...its been my favorite for 40 years! Rest in peace Benny...your fans miss you dearly
Your Uncle was so talented and he left the world a much better place with his voice and songs. Bless his kind heart and his devotion to his fans. Wish I could have known him. It would have been an honor. God and his angels must be smiling and welcoming him with open arms. Benny up there singing his heart out. R.I.P. Benny
It's sad that during his last show. His hands were shaking and he was really trying to give a good show. Now that he passed, it saddens me. RIP to a great singer.
The great ones want to give everything, to the very end. Reminds me of Eddie Money and how he did not want to stop until the doctors told him he had to.
Or Keith Emerson. He sadly took his life in 2016 because his arthritis got so bad he couldn't play the keyboard and didn't want to disappoint his fans.
Benny's last "performance" of this song was when friends gave him a birthday party at the last residence/assisted living he was in. 😪 THAT, was very difficult to watch. Very. (It's on here somewhere)
Love this song makes the hair stand up on the back of my neck. Also makes me want to cry. His voice never have I ever heard someone with a voice like that. RIP wish I could have seen you sing this in person.
When this song came out I was an 18 year old dating my 16 year old future wife. After all these years it's still our song. He sounds amazing. So underated.
@@Monscent You should read this backstory on the song and how it came to be. Then you will more understand my comment. www.songfacts.com/facts/benny-mardones/into-the-night
This is such a great song! I love it just as much now as I did back then!! He has such an incredible voice, it’s rough and smooth at the same time! So Beautiful!
Nobody will ever be able to top this in my book. So much heart in his singing. That voice. Gets me every single time. Every time. I love you, Benny Mardones. What a gift.
why do all the good ones have to die. There's nobody alive today that can truely appreciate him. All of his music was soulful and beautifully performed.
I just learned of his death in June 2020. I am glad that he enjoyed a nice career run in central New York in his later years. R.I.P. , Benny. We love you.
To all the people who don't like this video- the only reason you don't like it because you've never heard real music before! I got to see him live when I worked for the balloon fest in Syracuse New York and that was awesome! Even know he's old enough to be my grandfather he can still sing like crazy!
I just read your comment that you left 6 years ago. If you are still there....curious about how your life has been going over the past 6 years? Everything still good? What have you learned or experienced? Just thought I would chat with ya
@@MrDshadows LOL Hey Jeff! I was actually asking the person who left the message 6 years ago Amber. But since you answered... You are lucky to be able to do that! I'm stuck up here in WNY until the inlaws are gone. My wife won't leave them so I'm just chillin....counting the days down!
Not by a long shot....and this song was a hit TWICE. He has released many many albums and still performs. In fact, I'll be seeing him Memorial Day weekend int the Syracuse area where he is performing 2 shows. Things are actually picking up for him and he is about to release a CD. Check out the documentary trailer, also on You Tube, "Into The Night, The Benny Mardones Story"...it's amazing!!! He is AWESOME and he's one of my best friends.
Amazing... always loved this song. That is why it is called a SONG. Is everyone so ignorant that a singer can’t sing a simple song without being labeled a freak, a pedi, etc... it is a SONG, that simple, and beautifully performed. If we tore apart every song that we truly loved, everyone would be labeled something negative, sadly that’s what today’s society does. Stop judging and enjoy 😉
Tremenda voz, bella, que desgarra y te desarma.. Cuando joven tenía la voz parecida a otro grande la la música el vocalista de The Journey. Porque tuvo que ser así.. Nunca lo sabremos, solo darle gracias por habernos dejado su música!
There is not one live recording of him singing this song that is bad. Not one. I know, because I've seen and listened to each and every one of them. You've still got my undying respect, Mr. Mardones.
Amazing - 30+ yrs. later. Still one of my faves from my 30 yr.old self. What most of the posts don't get/understand (& I'm not knocking you!), this is our music - the 60s,70s,80s. The original video was an MTV moment to match the words & actions. The song itself is, quite simply, a love song. If it had personal meaning or not, it was, for so many of us, a love song. We never hear a love song anymore - we have to go back in time (thanks to RU-vid) to hear them. The singers/bands didn't have elaborate costumes, they weren't paid zillions but, whether they sang a fast dance number or a slow, romantic song, they played their hearts out for the joy of the music. Go back to my parents time - the 40's. Sinatra, Goodman, Miller all started the same way, traveling from town to town, night after night, trying to make a living, bringing the music to those who love it. I write off the 90s and today - I can't dance to it, sing to it and can't understand half of the words to it. I'll listen to Mom's music, my music, as my kids (in their 40s) listened to mine and I to theirs. One thing no one can take away from any of us is our music - our favorites still playing in our heads, coming across one we had forgotten, a song reflecting a personal moment in our lives. Sit back and enjoy it.
Well said my friend. Music is the soundtrack of our lives....Isn't it funny though how we didn't realize back when how important these songs would be to us later?
I've adored this song since the day it hit the charts. I never saw Benny perform this song before, even on television. Seeing him for the first time here, looking, performing and sounding so fantastic, this really was an emotional moment for a longtime fan who never got to see him doing what he does best.
One of those songs that never get old and caries more than the eye can see !!!!!!!!!! sorry for the haters thar are always looking to bring something down.
What ??? What was the guy out there doing sO bad??? Looks like he was just enjoying himself AND his song after all he’s at a CONCERT! kind of felt it Was unnecessary Maybe I missed something
Benny is always great with into the night but this time seemed like he is really feeling good and at the top of his game and it is a fantastic show. Thank you Benny for such a terrific song and a terrific performance as always.
I really love this song and I'm sad that he's gone . what a great singer R.I.P Benny Mardones I will miss him so very much. I was crying when I saw his hands shaking on the last video and it broke my heart and I started crying when I heard abou his passing. I still listen to his song because I have his tape with his song on it. I really think that this song is very sexy. He was a sexy gorgeous man and I will miss his sexy singing voice my heart is broken that he passed. He's still singing good here. I still love this song and I will never stop listening to it and his voice is so sexy. I love the way he sings. I'm going to keep playing and listen to his song 🎵.
I have to say that this is the most beloved song of the 80's. This man has a voice like no other with this song. I don't think anyone else could ever remake this song. We love you Benny and may you R.I.H.
