We have one been hanging around for about 2 weeks now just doesnt shut up day & nite 24/7. I played this & another longer clip & now we have the 1st day of peace in ages. It worked Thanks Benny
It’s the mating call of a male Koel. I learnt to imitate the bird without any recording and it works first time every time. Done it for years. Bird thinks there is another male around and he takes off to challenge it.
It works. I used a speaker at my open window here in Kep, Cambodia and played a male call titled 'Asian Koel Sound Effect' on RU-vid and the annoying little fellow duly flew away. Peace at last. Thx 4 tip, Benny!
This actually worked the first time I tried it a couple of days ago - I'd taped his own noise....then played it back to him next time I heard him - saw him instantly bolt from the tree as soon as he heard it - worked every time for a couple of days/middle of the nights. Now, the recording doesn't seem to bother him...dammit. I used to love the sound of the 'storm bird' (these guys) when they came to visit before rain - now, as its taken up residence here since October (its now days off December) - cant stand the menace! grrrrr so exhausted from being kept awake since 12-3am every morning for months!
Thanks so much Benny, I was about to build a scarecrow! We have a pair living right on our doorstep and apart from being bloody noisy they also steal the grapes. So, thanks dude! Sue
This works, but the blasted thing keeps coming back. Also, it doesn't seem to care at night. It just keeps going. Should start a petition to drive these buggers to extinction
For the past 4 years i have been dealing with this bird 24hrs never stop, somehow i came along your video,so i turn on my boom box and played this same bird calling,i could not believe how fast that bird flew away.
I’ve gotten very good with a slingshot and they have moved territory. Persistence pays off. And when the shit does try to venture back to his favorite perch, I only need to step outside and he flies off.
OMG.... I thought I was the only one being tormented by theses vile beings! Every morning right outside of my room and even in the afternoon when I am trying to work! Thank you so much! I’ll try this!
Except you can actually trap mynas with a cage to get rid of them, koels don't go for that at all. Also, you're twisted if you actually like the "song" which is one note repeated ad infinitum.
I had anxiety as a kid and would lay down and focus on the kooooOOEH to center myself. I can understand why it would annoy people though. Personally I'm soothed by the consistency. Especially compared to cockatoos and noisy miners. I'm also partial to magpie warbles
Fantastic! Beats my idea the phone is also legal. I almost grabbed my 12 gauge last night but the wife talked me out of it. About to try the phone, wish me luck! Failing that i'm grabbing the stereo, see how it like a Koel call over that :P
If you dont live in Sydney you wouldnt understand. Worse than a Kookaburra. Wretched things that go for HOURS! Loud, monotonous, starts at 2am...Some birds are clever, these things aren't. Several rungs down from a chicken.
They're up here on the Sunshine Coast Qld too...dammit. We have kookaburras here and I love them - this thing, I think because its just so piercing, relentless, and its call is so much louder than other birds - we have many species of birds here, and this one is definitely the loudest. That, and that they just do not shut up at night, other birds at least sleep lol
Sick! I'm gonna try it this arv! I was seriously thinking of getting my gun licence just so I could blast the feathered bastard out of the sky!!! Thanks man!
Thanks for the suggestion. Shall try this. I have been tormented by this koel bird at 6 plus am in the morning til night daily and it’s so annoying😆 can’t understand why Koels are protected species in my country😅
You are the best!! I live near a forest so it may not be that easy! I did try this and then gave up and then I tried vultures and owls and lions - you name it and IT still hangs around. I will try again!! I actually feel as though it is going to drive me insane!
Not sure if this actually works If you listen carefully, you can hear these: 0:10 that's the male koel bird's sound 0:39 that's the female koel bird's sound It may had just found a mate and both of them flew away, and may not be because of your youtube koel sound effects
It doesn’t work in Thailand with thousands of them around. They are used to screaming at each other day and night. It was the first trick I tried when that bas….d woke me up at 3 am. I went out to my balcony tried a speaker thing and you know what! The koel started screaming even louder replying to an imaginary opponent. There is one living on a tree just near my bedroom, screams every morning 4-6. I tried everything: a water gun, throwing eggs to him, a speaker, nothing works. There are just too many of them here, so they don’t care.
Just record the one you have in your area, and play it back. Worked for me (until now when I think he might have cottoned on to my game, as it doesn't seem to affect him now, dammit lol)
If i turned up from another country and stood out side some birds house yelling i want sex now, her dad would come out and shoot me, yet these birds seem to get away with it 😬 Time to try out Benny's trick i think.
You have to get rid of them at roosting time sun down to deter them from roosting in your tree. I used to sling shot and clap hands at them. They are dumb birds! Will try this trick this arvo. Mine is making a bit different noise tho!! Maybe it's a female. Up at 420 this morning!!
You know what's really interesting? is the fact that he's actually looking for the source of the sound believing it's another male-so he may circle your house a couple of times calling, and then he'll go back to that tree to call again-24 hours a day.
Benny your a genius. I was listening to your video and the red eyed nuisance heard and now we have silence how wonderful thank you hahahahahahaha they are driving us all mad.
This is great for birds near by. But what about the cunts of things that are miles away? I love all animals, but these things are devil spawn and should be dealt with accordingly.
I have heard these guys my whole life and still hear them kinda dont care anymore but i mimic the female one b4 and finnaly saw a koel i also can mimic the male and the male atually flew away but only for a week then it came back
I don't recommend doing this unless you obtain the utube link Benny was using!! The one I used, brought the $#% bird in closer so must have had a female Koel in the video. Now can't get rid of the damned thing. In future Benny, can you please include the link that you used to get rid of the pesky bird, it will save everyone a lot of time!!!
I HATE THIS FUCKING BIRD! One has moved into our neighbours back yard and it has not shut the fuck up in 4 Days! Imma try this ASAP! And yes I am awake at 4:22am cause the bird woke me up at 3:00am!
I know the noise is annoying all day and night, but you will get used to it over time. Kind of like getting kicked in the balls all day and night might get you used to it so you can block out the pain. I call it the bogan bird. Because the bogans near me like to disrupt the neighbourhood at all hours of the day and night and you are allowed to eradicate them either. CCTV stopped the bogans but not the red eyed devil bogan bird
So, Benny. Shame on you! Interfering with the love-life of one of our native birds. Thank you, thank you, thank you so much! (Maybe some are not as confident of meeting a rival as others).
I’ve been woken up for the last two mornings with this call. I’m so glad I know what it is now and I love it. Ours doesn’t seem to hang around to long and like I said, I love the sound so won’t be needing that tip 😊
I'm telling you now it doesn't work!! I tried the same thing you did even played it through a speaker. and that demonic bird keeps squeaking for hours! the fact that it worked for you is pure luck! NEXT!
I love their dulcet tones. They help me sleep. I don't understand the issue the people have with them. They are a beautiful native bird that only visit the south for 3 months of the year.
They are NOT a native bird, they come once a year from New Guinea and eastern Indonesia. They then lay a single egg in a host nest (of a native bird). Once the Kowel chick hatches it forces the native birds chicks and other eggs out of the nest. The host native bird then speds its time feeding the Kowel chick till it is able to fly back north - there is nothing nice about this anoying bird!
