BenQ e-Reading Desk Lamp Review | Is it good for Scale Modelling ? 

There are MUCH MUCH cheaper LED lamps that are both dimmable and have color/temp settings. Ive been using an Anker Lumos for years. Anker, Phive, TaoTronics are just a few of the much cheaper alternatives to this, which appears to me to be charging for style more than function.

Been using this for over 6/12 now...my main lighting source for aircraft and figures.

yes,... but that price... can the light unit - the actual lamp, be switched out if it malfunctions ? A lot of those LED lamps do NOT last that long despite claims of longevity...

I have a floor lamp with a 3 lamp bendable end. 13 bucks. I have 3, 100 watt bulbs and it works fantastically well.

Nice review! I just looked up this lamp on Amazon. It's $229 here in the states. I do have and use two lamps with similar features, but not as high end tech as that one. I'm currently buying various modeling tools, jigs and such, plus an additional airbrush which is costing me some serious bucks. This certainly peaked my curiosity! Thank you for sharing!

Thanks, James.....I've had the BenQ for over a year now and, although it is expensive, it certainly is so much better than the previous (not so cheap) desk lamps I've had, tried and discarded. This one is a definite keeper and does everything I need a lamp to do with my modelling hobby. This is my opinion only and I respect the opinions of others who may differ from mine. As the saying goes.....to each their own!

Hi pal, this I can say is the best video I've seen on lighting from the perspective of our hobby, seen these on ebay and toyed with the idea. Unfortunately we'll out of my price range. Many thanks for the vid, very informative😉👍😁stay safe guys

These guys had been dishing these lights out to quite a few modelers on RU-vid. I am sure it is a great light but I already have a light that has a lot of these features for a fraction of the price.

Great review James. Yeah, I thought the price was a bit high as well and they should really add the clamp in the box. Other than that it looks like a really good lamp with lots of lighting possibilities. Maybe when mine burn out I'll look at one or two of these.

I would like to see your studio lighting setup as it seems to have larger coverage and works well for your filming and yet closeup detail work looks color accurate in all your previous videos. Cost is an issue with these brand name products to most people I think. Cheers 👍

I have two of these lamps ,one on each side and they are outstanding for light coverage.Yes they are expensive.I've had both a year now and hope to get many years out of them.They are much better than the two cheaper lamps i had.

No Sorry James as nice as it is the Price as you said is too expensive! but you are right about looking after our eyesight which is just as important as having a well ventilated room to work in. but personally I have an Artist lamp attached to either my small work bench or my Artist easel it has a Day light bulb which is perfect I've used this now for years and is more than half the price of the lamp you have kindly been demonstrating for us which if this was a more reasonable price then I'm sure more Modellers and Artists like myself would buy it.. 👍😎

Not a bad product by the looks of it - probably gonna stick with my £20 homemade light arch though :P (for now)

Very good pointing out that light is very important - nothing that too many people may think about. Supporting your senses should be prime objective for everyone...

Yeah, very good quality and features, and while I'm a beginner modeler, I'm sure you can build much more suitable modeling lighting setup for the fraction of this price. I think this was propably meant for people who don't really care about price tags ans I think that's the smaller portion of the community. Informative video though.

Very nice for a desk where looks matter but there are much better lights for a much lower price for modelling use. Nice review though.

Beautiful intro !!!! Nice lamp but overpriced in my opinion... a part of the reason is the design and ingeniring. I'm pretty sure there are more affordable lamps that can meet our needs. But I have to admit it is a very nice lamp.

250 for a lamp that really does the same thing as the 30 quid one.
