Great beamer. I use the W2710 and the sharpness and contrast is great. But you mentioned true or native 4k beamer. This is not correct. It has a 1080p DLP chip with e shift to reach 4k. But not native. Those are much more expensive 🤷🏼🤜🏼❤️🤛🏼

Thanks David, I’ll go give yours a watch! I never watch other videos until I release mine so I don’t get any bias :) I’m not a professional calibrator like you - purely enthusiast with a passion to learn. I also decided not to measure or calibrate for this review to test how it worked out of the box. So many angles u can take with a video.

I really miss my W2700-it was an absolute beast. However, after moving to a place with too many windows, it was practically unusable during the day. I do miss the cinematic experience. Watching Titanic on that projector was incredible. Now, I have a 77-inch Samsung, which is great, but I still long for the projector setup. The cost, though, is a significant barrier. A decent projector can run about $9k, and then you'll need a sound system, adding another $2k. It's pricey to maintain. If only I didn't have a wife! :D PS: Amazing review. One day, I'll get this... one day.

I cover black levels in the video. Check chapter markers. Nothing like my JVC but it’s a dlp light engine and calibrated with 2.2 gamma which is pretty high. I’m running 2.6 in sdr on my JVC. Also the reason I didn’t test higher frame rates is because it’s a cinema projector so the angle I took was for movies more so than gaming. I recently did a review of the Benq gaming projector.

Sweet review, really appreciate it. I wish this was available when I bought my LS12000 in October. When I bought mine I was considering the 5000es and NP5. At that time the NP5 was $7000 and ironically back then I thought they were overpriced. Since then JVC has brought them down to $5000. The Sony was a no go because of no power lens shift and lens memory so I went with the LS12000. The W5800 looks really promising. It has a lot calibration controls, color accuracy, and sharpness with decent black levels. How is the tone mapping? Thanks again for your help.
@BuildMontage
@BuildMontage 21 день назад
Thanks Percy, and the LS12000b is definitely still a great projector and I'm sure you would be loving it. The NP5 was my personal choice as I wanted the inky blacks and didnt mind having a bulb. I had an Epson 6040UB for a few years and it served me well as Im sure the Epson would for you also. The tone mapping was nice on the w5800 - I find the colours on the Benq to be insanely good, very "cinematic" although I hate that word these days!

@BuildMontage
@BuildMontage 5 дней назад
You can watch my review on the w4000i on my channel as well for a similar style review. Off hand, main differences are higher brightness on the w5800 and overall it feels very similar in colours but brightness and contrast is better on the w5800.. Plus it's a laser light vs LED.. otherwise, typical BENQ, very good colours and options to calibrate.
@bryanp4827
@bryanp4827 22 дня назад
Hey Tony, honestly is it that much better than the w4000i, given that it is using the .47 inch chip, instead of the .65 in the 4000i? And especially the price point difference...
@BuildMontage
@BuildMontage 22 дня назад
I tested both. The brightness from this one definitely makes a difference and also the colours are more vivid. I’ve reviewed both. I try to be objective. Personally I’m a JVC fanatic so I have to try and forget. I do agree the .65” DMD may have been a better choice. I’ve reviewed many Benq projectors but I was seriously impressed with this one. The footage speaks for itself. I have no agenda… I just put the time in and try to give a real honest opinion based on what I experience.

For a dedicated home theater which would you recommend the w5800 or the Sony vpl es5000
@BuildMontage

I would go the BENQ due to the electronic lens shift, zoom and multitude of calibration controls. Possibly you may say the Sony panel and native 4K is better overall but I prefer the look of the w5800 over the sony personally having viewed both.

To compare to W5700 ; Blacks are same as W5700. Colour ( color ) is better out of the box than my W5700 was. Brightness and HDR is leaps and bounds better than W5700 to my eyes. Also it does look sharper!!! Throw ratio smaller but a much better experience to align to screen.

Thanks for sharing your feedback. Lots of mixed opinions about it - however - as I ACTUALLY had one in to test, I shared it exactly as I saw it. Considering that the JVC NP5 is now $5,000 in the US, it sounds like it would be the easy pick over the BenQb for people in America.... The only things that I would think the BenQ has over the JVC is the lower fan noise and lack of needing to replace a lamp every 1,000 s-1500 hours.
@BuildMontage
@BuildMontage 22 дня назад
Hey mate, if u saw I mentioned the np5 but I was trying to keep it to laser projectors. The nz7 is 17K. Np5 for me is the sweet spot but not everyone wants bulbs especially if in Europe.
@handcoding
@handcoding 10 дней назад
On the other hand, perhaps a silver lining to the JVC is that once its lamp runs out, you can just get another lamp. While with a laser projector, once the laser reaches its end of life, I think that’s just it?
@TerminatorJuice
@TerminatorJuice 10 дней назад
@@handcoding I didn't think anyone would use or own a projector long enough for the laser light to start to dim or"burn out", but if there was a defect and it had a short life, then yes, it would be easier to replace a lamp in the JVC.
@handcoding
@handcoding 10 дней назад

@@BuildMontageunderstandable. But if it's got motorized zoom and focus you would think they could at least have some save points for the different sized screens to be able to zoom in to fill your Cinema wide and zoom out and then just add a couple save points. Lover your review though and thought about this projector when I saw it a couple days ago but then without the lens memory quickly put it to the side.

@@BuildMontageI just mean being able to zoom in and focus to where the top and bottom letter bars are gone on a cinema wide and then zoom out when it's a 16 by 9 show. You would have let her bars on the sides but people expect that when they have a cinema wide. I plan on using smart curtains
@BuildMontage

If you can't game on a $6k USD projector, no amount of other features matter. Input lag is horrible. Also using the cheaper .47 DLP Chip vs. the newer .65 that projectors less than half its cost are using. Jvc and Sony are better value all round even with bulb. I have always had a problem with BenQ's supposed "value"---->at what cost? And yes I have owned multiple. Thumbs up to the review though, good content. Do some side by side in a future video please.
@BuildMontage
@BuildMontage 22 дня назад
Thanks for the feedback. Generally it’s impossible for me to do side by side as the projectors come and go quickly and at different times. Benq do have access to the .65” DMD but I don’t know why they went this way - maybe that additional cost tipped it outside of their marketing window?
