OMG!!!! I just checked it on GOOGLEMAPS!!!! It comes right off of I-10!!!! I also went to street view and checked. It is not MARKED as DARK STAR ROAD. So if you want to say you drove it, you need to know where you are going. From what I can see there are NO street signs designating it as DARK STAR ROAD.
When I was in the Air Force I was in Tucson for a week one summer. I made a special trip to Benson, just re reminisce about the movie, and the song. That was 30 years ago. I still have vivid memories of that quiet, clean little town.
I first heard this song when I was about twelve years old. All I could remember was the chorus, but it stuck in my mind for about thirty years until I found a copy of it on the Internet. That's time travel of a sort.
ALways liked it, too. While Benson isn't exactly then place I'd pick to be, it's MUCH better than a small ship light years away fron home minus a surfboard.
Immer wieder sehenswert. Allerdings auch etwas deprimierende Stimmung im Film. Da heute nichts besonderes im Fernsehen kommt, schaue ich mir den Film heute nochmal an. (Das Gefühlte 50ste ma) 😀
Great upload, thanks. Dark Star was one of the first movies I saw when my Dad first rented a VCR. The video library had a copy of this and I picked out. What a revelation it was at the age of 14! Loved the movie and this song ever since.
Thank you for posting the words as well as the song. I had never realised that the lyrics are so clever, referring to time dilation so the song really suited people in a spacecraft flying in hyperspace, knowing that time will have passed more quickly on earth if they ever get home again. In some ways it is even chilling. A great song and once heard, never forgotten. I had not heard it for decades but still hummed it from time to time.
