Excellent demonstration, Beretta support this guy he just sold me on this shotgun. I will purchase one or more soon. Again nice job to you and Beretta.
So I just used your instructions to change the furniture on my 1301 and I cannot thank you enough! Thank you for doing this video. So many small details that you touched on that I had questions about were covered in this video. When I fit my Zhukov front stock, there was a space between the main stock and small upper section that just didn't look right, but everything was tight. I took a really close look at your video and it was clear I needed to do some more fitting on my stock. Worked it over some more and it fits snug. For the Magpul stock installation, I knew about the flats on the bolt near where it attached, but I didn't notice the flats on the far end. It was so much simpler using the far end flats to get a grip with the wrench to remove the stock bolt. Huge help!
I forgot to mention your advice on the cheek riser fitting and installation was a huge help as well. Looking forward to getting the Magpul strap that you reviewed in another video. 👍 @@YourFavoriteLibertarian
Picked up a 1301 about six weeks ago. Went with the LE pistol grip, Firing prone no longer means getting rapped in the face with my own knuckles with the pistol grip. I'm going broke drilling with it. Heavy eater and buckshot isn't free unless someone is sending it your way in anger. Love the platform even more than my M4. Its light, fast, simple, has a bolt release that you can actuate without having to feel around for and the price was right.
Hey man there’s a small tab inside of where the bolt release is located that can be pressed to unload 1 round at a time. That’s how I unload mine. Good video though!
Aridus industries developed the original parts and adaptors. Their products are absolutely bomb proof and a higher quality than anything else on the market today. Including aluminum milled shell holders that are swappable and fit in an AR mag carrier. GG&G did a copy job of the Aridus design. Cheaper (and yes, you often do get what you pay for).
I think your 1301 looks even better than the LTT Options. I'm emailing them now if I could have one directly from them in Magpul Foliage Green the way you did it.
I got rid of my 1301 after I tried the a300 I was never happy with the stock and instead of investing more money on the 1301 for it to essentially resell for the same amount I got the a300 and kitted it out slightly. for what I do with it I am happier. personally.
Been enjoying all your 1301 vids keep ‘em comin’. I’m in the middle of a 1301 build myself, though still in the early stages. I decided to stick with the factory stock, main reason being that I want the option to put another esstac on it. For the same reason I installed rear qd base into left side of the buttstock. Put a LimbSaver on it and the LOP still feels great. BFG sling. Just ordered the pro lifter. I’m gonna go with the Briley hand guard. It’s all aluminum, wraps the entire barrel, has m-lok out the yin yang and looks even more badass than the Zhukov, all for a mere $335 (owie!). Then all that’s left is Briley trigger, aluminum mag tube cover and barrel clamp, stainless steel follower, $300 light, $500 optic, a prepper’s wet dream worth of shells, and I thiiiink that’s it. Ugh, I’m gonna go broke trickin’ this thing out, but that’s half the fun isn’t it.
Thanks! That sounds like a pretty extensive overhaul. If you have videos or pics as you go, send them over. You can DM me on Instagram, or if you have videos on YT, I'll check em out. You're right about moding it out. It is half the fun! 😊
Ty man I will do that. Gonna take some time I think. Some of those items, like new mag tube cover and steel follower, might not be absolutely necessary, I just know once I put all these top of the line accessories on it the plastic components will annoy me. No half steppin lol. Think I’ll go SRO for the red dot. And ofcourse all that fancy shit don’t mean a thing without training.
Dude, this is the sickest looking 1301 Ive seen. I was going to wait for a Gen 3 in FDE, but im thinking a Gen 2 in black will be the perfect foundation to start from.
Thanks, man! If you have questions on the differences between what comes with/on the gen 2 and 3, there's a ton of videos out there but I also touch on them in my initial video in the series. Either way, have fun out there!
I just my 1301 with the pistol grip. I think the stock is fine but I do like that front end that looks better. But I only had mine for a month only shot 15 rounds. I work a lot and little time to play with my news toys. But every time I have a chance I’ll take her out..oh and yea I need that saddle too. Thanks for the class.
LTT is pretty much a waste of money. I got my 1301 mod 2 for way under msrp with discounts, and added an optic, replaced the polymer tube with aluminum, and put a ported modified choke in it, and it’s all I need. Great product out of the box
Yup, pricing and options change pretty fast in this wild industry.

Yeah, it's not perfect, but it's still the best. I had to install a higher cheek riser on my SGA stock, replaced the Zukov with a Briley heat shield/foregrip, and added a pro-lifter on my LTT 1301. However, it weighs in a little heavier at 8.2 pounds.
Ghost loading and cruiser ready are not the same or interchangeable terms. Cruiser ready with a pump was 4 loaded in the tube with the bolt home and trigger pulled so when the shotgun came out it could be racked without using the small release button. Cruiser ready in a semi is a fully loaded tube with one round on the carrier but no round in the chamber so when the gun comes out all that needs to be done is to rack the bolt, now cops will not use your method to put a round on the carrier they will simply press that shell release button get a round out of the magazine. Ghost loading is when you fill the magazine tube then put one round on the carrier and one round in the chamber, making it a 7 +1 +1 loading or having 9 rounds ready to go, cops don’t do this its just too slow and tedious. Hope this made sense.
I know this is an older video but GG&G has great replacement for the poly mag tube with clamp all from milled spec aluminum. Guessing yall have already upgraded that portion since the poly pieces come loose and slip during range day firing...
I purchased the 1301 follower for my mod 2. The GG&G follower is about a millimeter longer than the OEM follower. It's just long enough to turn your 7 round tube into a 6 shot tube even with the plastic plug removed. I put my OEM back in. It's not worth a round to see a red spot on the follower.
Cruiser ready usually means trigger pulled. However, I dig the other option because safety is paramount for me. I train to work the safety (AR15) all the time. So it's just normal to do that. I do have a but/however, though. That being a cross bolt safety. It's more complex than an AR selector. I'll have to play with 1301 to decide which I prefer. Thankfully I know a guy who has one ;-)
With the Beretta 1301, you don't have to pull the trigger, but you can if you want. The round (ghost load) on the lifter will load either way when you rack it. The safety is intuitive. Keep your trigger finger straight and away from the trigger guard, and then as you come down to the trigger guard, push your straight finger against the safety. It will then be in the fire position, and you can proceed to the trigger to pull it.
I never understood paying a third party to install aftermarket accessories on a gun. DIY is the way to go. Better yet, don't even install unnecessary accessories. That's harder to resist for most people (including me) but I've drilled and mounted lights to forends on a number of different models which had no "factory" mounting solution. Same with slings. Guys used to cut stocks down themselves too before there were aftermarket options for most guns.
Naw. I got a great deal on the 1301 tactical, and I also didn't want the barrel choked, so I got the LE model. It's exactly how I want it now and I saved money.
That blaster came out looking great. Would it have been cheaper to source each of the LTT/Magpul parts individually? Looks like you have more than 1500 invested into this which in the long run is worth it for such a reliable shotty that will perform at such a high level. Have an awesome weekend, thanks for taking us along!
Thanks! It's hard to say as prices on some of these things fluctuate. But I know you can get most of the parts directly from GG&G. I didn't see the magpul mossberg 500/590 sga stock on GG&G's website, though. If you find a good deal on the stock, maybe you could peice it together for cheaper. For me, I bought from LTT to save on multiple shipping costs and make sure I had all the parts I needed.
Once I add the Cheek Risers and QD, I'll be at $1,900. Compared to a bone stock Benelli M4, I'm still at less than one of those, and it's completely set up the way I want it for HD. Granted, I still want to add a red dot, but I would be adding one regardless of which shotgun I went with.
I can't stand GG&G parts. They always have to put that bold white branding on their stuff. My guns aren't billboards or sales ads for you. Be discreet.
Not a fan of the bold white on black lettering. Everyone puts their mark on their products but subtly goes a long way especially on high quality parts like GG&G. Their parts really are top notch. So my sharpie comes in handy.
Firstly I am not at all religious. If you could see your way clear to say a prayer or two for me, I would truly appreciate and relish it. Thank you! Glad to see you back with the fighting shotgun!!!! I have missed that a lot! That green you have chosen is outstanding and very nice! I have the full LTT gen 2 1301. It has the full Aridus Industries set. The low mount does work well for that red dot. It also has the Aridus QD Shell Carrier. It works ok and is expensive! I would now put the Esstac Card setup on and be done with it. Oh, mine is in FDE furniture. Although I am not a fan of lights on guns, I do find that Streamlight setup you have quite interesting. I might consider it? I don't like pressure switches at all on anything! Keep up the good fighting shotgun content!!!!!!! How about moving up to the Benelli m4 and giving it the YFL treatment? Again, good stuff!!!!
I will absolutely pray for you! (Just did) 😊. If there's anything specific you want prayer for, just let me know. I'm glad you're digging the series so far. I love shotguns. Once this one is all squared away, I might tackle the Mossberg 930 JM Pro Series Tactical Class I have. I'd like to compare those 2 as they operate differently and are vastly different price points.
You did such a good job on the 1301, if there is any way possible, I would enjoy your perspectives on the Benelli m4. I have an LE with collapsing stock.
I picked up the 1301 with the pistol grip stock because I thought I'd like it, but it really does kinda suck. Watching this video because I was thinking of putting the magpul boy on it.
i looked at doing the LTT set up to mine...but after analyzing the front handguard i decided against it due to the gas mechanics and springs being exposed...if you faceplant into mud or gravel that action will get clogged and fail...the factory handguard keeps everything covered and clean...it looks really neato and all but i'm more of a function over looks guy...being a mechanic for over 30 years i look at design and function...
The gen 3 mag tube is full length with a plastic cover. So, any extension would put it past the barrel. I did see GG&G has a replacement cover that might solve the sliding clamp issue (one of my viewers suggested that one).
That forend leaves an awfully large gap in the top for debris to enter and jam up the recoil spring. Seems like they could have tightened that up a bit for a defensive weapon.
@@TheTarotCardGuy I'm not impressed with the vote of confidence GT gave on the gap. I would bet on a failure if a handful of dirt, sand, gravel, etc got sprinkled over it.
You may want to check out the Chisel machining folding stock. Pricey, but it would give you all the adjustability and a pistol grip (really any pistol grip you'd want). I'm working on my review of it as we speak. It's going to take a bit longer as I'm comparing it to the LTT stock as well, but both options are available through my LTT link if you can't wait and want to pick it up now, lol. langdontactical.com/?avad=326733_a37ea0f25
Good Job. Helpful video. I am thinking of going with this kit. My only concern is the forearm piece you replaced looks like it open up area of internal parts. I can see tube and spring. Should I be concerned? Also is the replacement butt stock longer then the one the shotgun came with? Thanks.
I can't remember off hand the length difference between the 2 stocks, but I am working on a video right now that compares all 3 stocks, and I measured EVERYTHING. Beretta stock, LTT stock, and Chisel Machining folding stock. Stay tuned 😉
Regarding the forend, check if Beretta sells the mod 2 forend for the 1301 separately. If they do, it may be a better option for you. You'd still have mlok, and nothing would be exposed. I haven't had any issues with mine, but I'm also not pouring dirt and rocks all over it. Lol
I have a 1301 comp. Went with that, for a few reasons. 1) interchangeable chokes. Can use it for hunting, home protection, skeet, trap, target. 2) also can have all the same furniture. 3) at the time, it was around $300cdn cheaper. Love the shotty. I'm looking at getting the Mesta Tactical LEO pistol grip. I have a spare AR buffer tube and stock. Get an AR beavertail pistol grip. As for the forend, it's either the Aridus or a Trukee. My question about the Aridus; the mlock on the bottom, can you put a handstop or small vertical grip on it? On the comp, my stock only has a QD on it. Subbed, thanks from Canada. Your handle is why I tuned in. I'm also a Libertarian. Peace bruh
Your thought process is sound. I'm not sure what portion of the handguard you're referring to, but it's m-lok, so if you have an m-lok hand stop, it should work.
@@YourFavoriteLibertarianalong the bottom. My left hand has a bit of a physical limitation, I can't fully rotate my hand. If I put a handstop or vertical grip I can then securely hold it.
@@YourFavoriteLibertarianall good. Trudeau is nutering us pretty bad. Hand guns are banned for sale, transfer and import. When I die, they get destroyed by the state. ARs, AKs and 1500 firearms prohibited. Next election in 2025 cantcime soon enough. What happens with no 2A.
@chocol8thunda I've broken my wrist twice, so I get it. Yes, you can attach a hand stop there. Depending on the length of the screws you may have to pop the heat shield out, but otherwise, I don't forsee any hurdles.
You have been searching in vain! I had it cerakoted Magpul Foliage Green. That's how I got the Ranger Green vibes. If you want to match it for cheaper, I show how in my Chisel Machining folding stock video. Hint: Rustoleum color combos are much less expensive. Hehe.
@@YourFavoriteLibertarian support!!! YW I’m sorry I’m late watching but I am on vacation and hit a stopping point so I could watch it. It’s reciprocal so thank you for supporting me.
Do you think I could alter it to get a mlock to fit underneath to attach a flashlight, if I pushed up or cut out a piece of the heatshield to make room for an mlock?
Absolutely. As a matter of fact, if you cut a mlok slot in the heat shield, it would be even more secure as it's being held in with plastic and metal. Cut away, my fellow do it yourselfer!
Yes. Just make sure you get it for the right version of the magpul stock. There's an adapter for the mossberg 500/590 series and one for the remington 870 version.
@@YourFavoriteLibertarian I’m sorry, I meant I already have this stock on my Mossberg 500. I would like to purchase a Beretta, 1301 and then put the mag pole stock that I have on my Mossberg on the Beretta. I was wondering if I could just buy that adapter
Pretty much. They are a custom shop, so they do milling, trigger work, parts installation, etc. LTT puts together kits, and the LTT version of the 1301 has a trigger job and all the parts installed. But yes, as far as parts, they are a middle man.
There are other heavier, more expensive options if you want to use that Chris Costa grip. I think Active Self Protection did a video on that. I opted to put my hand elsewhere.
That happened to me trying to unload my 1301. I have your exact gun. The Gen 3. I just took a thin screwdriver and pushed the shells back into the tube and freed up the loader. Definitely not a fun thing to have happen.
I would ask customer service at Langdon tactical, but my guess is no. It has a different operating system in the forend, and I believe the receiver is slightly different as well for stocks. I wouldn't be surprised if they weren't working on a kit for that one, though.
Note 1: you should have tried to switch the fold ring to raise che buttstock, before changing anything. Maybe you did before the video. Note 2: the clamp is only in the US version. the original italian one is sold without clamp and tube extension. Note 3: it should be compatible with mossberg so there a lot of stocks to choose other than the most advertised. Note 4: now is a slight more complicated and slower to dissamble than the original setup. Note 5: you can swith the ramp with the competition one that stays up when you feed it, so you are faster and it's easier. very cheap upgrade. Question 1: what's the point of cerakote plastic? there's no metal to protect, wasn't paint for plastics enought...
I tried the various buttstock ring positions, and it wasn't even close to moving the angle of the stock enough. It would work great if this didn't have ghost right sights, though.
I listed the deferences between them, at the time of filming, 3 generations. One of which being that the 3rd Gen is made in the States and has a full-length tubular magazine with a plastic cover over it along with the plastic barrel/magazine clamp.
The only reason it's compatible with the mossberg stock, is the adapter that comes in the kit or is sold separately. So you'll still need an adapter before you go off and buy any mossberg stock.
WRT the barrel/magazine clamp - whilst I know this isn't a precision firearm I would, if I had one, feel an immense urge to compare accuracy with slugs with and without the clamp mounted. But that's just the kind of way I have fun with guns
