Very happy to come across your video. You have just helped me identify the Beretta shotgun I was gifted TODAY by my uncle. It is a 28ga 409 double trigger full choke he's had for about 70 years! Thank you!

Wow! You are reviewing my exact shotgun. I think mine is a little bit newer. Possibly 1967 but I’m not sure. I think that’s what i was told when I got it in about 1969 or 70. I paid $165 hard earned dollars from baling hay, walking beans and other farm labor. I was in high school. My Sophomore or Jr year. Well over 50 years ago now. I shot doves, ducks, pheasants, quail, Hungarian partridge, prairie chickens plus some trap and sporting clays. I love the improved cylinder and modified choke combination. I believe they pattern somewhat tighter with modern plastic wad shot shells. I believe mine also says featherlight some where on the receiver. The blue is a little thin now and the forearm developed a crack around the release button. My homemade repair isn’t the best. I suppose I also damaged the value by having a recoil pad installed but that 7 pound gun beat me black and blue shooting doves and trap before I got smart and got a real trap gun. I never had any complaints about the non-selective trigger and extractors. I reload for everything I shoot so I always try to save my empty cases. It hasn’t been out in a few years now as I’m out of dogs and recent hIp and knee replacements have curtailed my hunting for a while but I keep hoping for next season. Happy hunting boys and girls!😊

On the barrel flats (take the barrels off and look on the underside) there would be XXIII for 1967.

Inertia trigger trivia. I’m not sure about Beretta inertia triggers, but Citori inertia triggers will set the second trigger on a misfire of the first simply by cycling the safety off then back on, much quicker and easier than bumping the butt. I was interested to hear that Citori 725’s have mechanical triggers, perhaps a carryover from Browning BSS doubles that have mechanical triggers.
