Having enjoyed all the reviews you've done, I was almost dreading this one, in case you hated it! I have this gun (in 32" with the factory adjustable stock) and generally agree with all you've said. I felt for me, it was a big step up in pointability, balance, and shooting feel, from the 725 S1 Sporter I had before. Not that I thought the 725 was a bad gun, mind! Keep up the reviews, I look forward to seeing what's coming next!

I really enjoy watching these videos, informative & honest opinions. I think the 694 has taken the limelight from the 692. Probably because of the well documented issues early in the models history. Online forums seem to rate 694 as a gem & unfairly rate the 692 as a bit of a lemon. Personally I now think it’s somewhat of a bargain secondhand. They just need a little bit more looking after,

@@lloydyp I purchased a Perazzi HT Classic a little over a year ago. It's got adjustable comb, 31.5 inch barrels with removable trigger and coil springs. Tips the scale at 9 lbs and is as agile as other 8 lb guns that I've had. I also put Muller Featherweight choke tubes in it and really like them. I know your shooting an HT these days, hope your enjoying it!

Nice review, thanks. However, I bought a new 692 Sporter a few years back and there have been problems: Within a few weeks of buying the 692 one of the ejector springs broke internally. Secondly, the Ejectors spring out by themselves from time to time when you are dismantling the gun (it could literally take your eye out). Thirdly, The ejector 'mode' screws intermittently self-adjust themselves during transport, meaning that you sometimes arrive at the first Stand of your competition only to find one of your ejectors isn't working. (Always carry a screwdriver with you). Finally, for the high number of cartridges I've put though the gun, it remains stubbornly and uncomfortably tight to open. I know three other shooters who bought new 692's and they have all had mechanical problems (gun not closing, forend clip springing open). It's a shame because it's quite a nice gun to shoot, and the chokes & barrels seem to work well. Maybe Beretta have improved the design/quality control since I bought mine, but personally I wouldn't take a chance on buying another Beretta. I don't think that either the design or the build quality is good enough these days.

While I’m not sure of Beretta’s reasons I wouldn’t be surprised if the ejectors were designed to be “turned off” for the American market. Reloading is a way of life in America for those who shoot a lot and are looking for ways to reduce costs. It’s easier to simply remove the empties from the chamber. I’ve witnessed more than one shooter remove ejector springs for the same reason.

@lloydyp
@lloydyp 6 лет назад
benguest bloody hell good question. I think if you forced me, I would be really tempted by either the pro sport or the invictus. Both guns are in my fighting weight, and offer more options in terms of out of the box adjustability and accessories, as well as being really sweet guns. That said if you further twisted my arm I would have the browning. Literally because of the shape of the fore end and the clever rib, and I like the black action. As ever, your mileage may vary.

I’m a brand new shooter to sporting shotguns and I’m torn too between the CG Summit, USA Browning 725 “Pro”Sporting ( sadly NOT the EU version, but more of a higher priced version of the regular adjustable stock 725 ) Beretta 690, or The FabArm Elos N2 Sporting. I have shot all 5 and don’t know enough to know what’s best for now and the long run. The Browning, FabArm, and CG in that order all shot well for me. I prefer the CG in style, looks, function, but the Browning just feels the by to me, but it’s just plain, ugly, and over priced in my opinion!!! The FabArm handled just as good as the Browning, but my mentor has been try to convince me to choose one of the others. The Caesar Guerini is my favorite of the bunch, but it is a bit to long and would Need to be fitted to me. What would you do for your 1st O/U?

I’ve just taken my second hand 692 back because the ejectors just stopped working, the top one started hit and miss ejecting which I thought was just me, used it at the weekend and it didn’t eject at all. Is it possible for it to deactivate the ejectors without knowing would you know? Or would you guess it’s an issue with the gun? Bought from a reputable dealer so waiting to hear back from him. Any advice would be nice? Thanks

@@lloydyptook back to dealer and apparently there is a free recall to upgrade to disable the option to deactivate the ejector deactivator, if that makes sense…. New cams fitted so the ejector screw doesn’t vibrate it’s self to disable the ejectors. For what reason someone decided it was a good idea to have the option to deactivate them in the first place no one seems to know…. Maybe fit an ash tray on the barrel next?🫤

Any thoughts on the Beretta 690 Black Edition Sporting? I am on a budget and looking for a new gun under $3k USD. I was considering a 686 until I watched your review so I've been considering the 690 Black but can't find one locally to feel. Any thoughts?
@lloydyp
@lloydyp 6 лет назад
Hey man, the 690/692 are solid guns if a little light for my taste. The 690 Black is one of the prettier guns in the range as I dig the matte finish and the overall aesthetic. Lack of adjustable trigger might put you off but it really depends on the size of your hands. What are you shooting right now?
@g.m.1986
@g.m.1986 6 лет назад
Thanks for the feedback! Presently, I shoot a 1978 Winchester Model 101 Field Grade that was handed down to me. It doesn't fit at all but I've adapted because I didn't previously have money for a new gun. I'm determined to buy something new and want it to be a gun that I'll be most proud of and have for many years to come. In the < $3,000 range I have looked at the Browning 725 variations but I don't find them attractive. I like the look of the 690 but haven't been able to try or even shoulder one yet because they aren't easy to find locally. With regard to the trigger not being adjustable, I couldn't find the length of pull on the website so I'm not sure that I would have fit problems. I would expect that the LOP is between 14-1/4" and 14-1/2", no?
@lloydyp
@lloydyp 6 лет назад
G. M. Yeah the LOP can be moved around that range with a pad but I’m more thinking of the reach from the pistol grip to the trigger. I have stumpy fingers and I like my hand down at the bottom of the pistol grip where it’s supposed to be so I often need an adjustable trigger to get e good fit even though my LOP is 14 3/4. You should look at the 725 Pro Sport if you can as they are one hell of a gun for the money. Also consider an Ceasar Guerini. You might snag a used invictus in that price range but I don’t know the value in the us.

Lloyd Pattison The USA Browning Pro Sporting 725’s are sadly NOT the same as the EU versions. The only difference between the standard adjustable stock and the US version is a different plain laser engraved receiver, stock only balancing weights, and a lockable gun case. The accessories and parts are packed in a cardboard box and the guns is wrapped in plastic, no socks. After checking one out Personally I would NOT buy the USA Pro version for the extra $400 cost!!!

Thanks for the review....but i miss an evaluation of the guns value compared to other and info about the things i read in different forums problems with ejectors etc. I watch reviews in order to buy - shall i save my money and wait until i can buy a DT11....for the money i have to pay for a 692 i can buy 2 686....in other words - is this potentially a gun for life or a gun that will be bad after the first 10-15k shots - meaning problems that i will meet after warrenty has ended...

Yes of course, and price point very much depends on model, there is a high rib version of the 692 called the X trap, and 2 models of the DT11. The X Trap and the ACS.

It's a nimble gun Gareth and I think it would be a fine choice on driven. Obviously the styling is a little modern for some tastes as a game gun, but I prefer the 692 and 690 black to the styling of the 690 field.

@anonymous6694 3 года назад
I love your reviews Lloyd and i jump to watch every one of them but you (and every other reviewer) has got to stop saying things like @2:39. These things cost $6,700 here in Australia. If this were a $6,700 rifle you'd expect perfection in accuracy, quality and ergonomics in every regard. A lot more goes into making a rifle work properly so i don't know why shotgun makers get a pass. Another one is 'good value for money'. Competition shotguns just aren't good value for money in any regard. $2,000 for a shotgun is stupidity. The cost of them is just profiteering and the manufacturer having a laugh at us. And this is coming from some with a few shotguns in the safe including an $18k Blaser - which objectively speaking is only about 10% better than my Beretta 686.
@lloydyp
