Nutsedge is a real pain in the butt. Do pre-emergents prevent nutsedge? Sedgehammer did not work that well for me, some nutsedge died, but most survived and seems to be spreading.

Nutsedge is a summer weed that is hard to control using a pre-emergent. Sedgehammer's label states: "Symptoms are likely to show within 2 weeks and though it often works with one application, but depending on the size and age of the nutsedge a second treatment may be required 6 to 10 weeks after the initial treatment."

@@domyown - Thanks. I guess I'm gonna have to nuke it the next time. I live in SW Georgia, is there a time limit as to when it's too late to spray it again? I assume if it's still growing, it's okay to spray it and not waste the herbicide.

Unfortunately, there aren’t any pre-emergents for nutsedge, so you have to control it using post-emergents. Most products will be a slow kill and will require a second application. Nutsedge would need to be sprayed when it's actively growing. Please let us know if you have any other questions.
