This is my favorite song by Bernadette Peters. I don't know why she never recorded it for an album track. Absolutely beautiful.

I've been searching for this for so many years and I can't believe I just saw this again.

This is the first time I've ever heard or seen this song performed by anyone. So very glad that it was by one of my very favorite entertainers... Bernadette Peters! Her very little baby doll voice has always made me love this very sweet feminine voice. My very favorite of all is from the Broadway album "Mack & Mabel." Her beautiful torch song is "Time heals everything". She truly owns this song. Also wonderful was "raining in my heart" from her first Broadway show "Dames at sea". OH there are so many others.🙄😳🤔🤗🥰❤️

Bernadette's singing (as always) is great, but I have to laugh that her character has never seen this song before but then she sings it (often without even looking at the words) like it's been in her repertoire for twenty years.

is there an original version of this song somewhere? is there more words to the song or is it written this short specifically for this sketch?

This is the only recording. This was before I knew B. Peters as a full Broadway star. My guess Carol had to stop acting and give Bernadette her respectful response on camera or not.
