How beautiful to see horse and rider so well connected. I started riding in an English saddle, but quickly bought a western saddle as it' so much more comfortable, and so much more fun. Keep up the great work with your beautiful horse, you are both amazing:-) Stay well:-)

Dressage riders not understanding how the crowd isn’t distracting either horse or rider, jumping riders not understanding how the horse doesn’t trip on that loose ground. I‘m a jumper at shows and a dressage rider at home, wanting to try this badly.

My horse hated flying lead changes.. when we worked on them, I hung on because he'd switch his tail and If he switched it 3 times.. hang on because you're going for 8 seconds lol

The lope was much better on this horse than I’ve seen “trending”, he was picking his feet up and not tripping over his hoofs, but I would prefer to see his head a little higher, it’s too low, they should be level from rump to ears with a fluid, flexible movement. His stamina could be a lot better, he shouldn’t be that sweaty in under 5 minutes. A fit working reining horse should be able to work for a good solid hour before becoming that sweaty.

Watch any ranch hand who uses his horse everyday exactly none will hold their head down and they get the cow work done can slide rollback ect.

Anybody know why he's holding his right arm like that? To me it seems awkwardly bent at the elbow, so much so that I wonder if he's doing it on purpose, especially at a gallop. Anybody clue me in?

Why is the left leg of the horse so big/swollen?

I don't believe that horse would have gotten a 205 in Texas, mostly riders fault.

There are many successful riders in competition, but very view riding masters. This one is successful, but he is never a riding master. Horsemanship, simple, noble, serene, and of grandeur, is rare in our days and time. The "vanity fair" of modern equestrianism offers surrogate alternatives, elevates sham imitations to the status of supposed ideals and models. On the way up to success in anticipation of big money, athletes easily loose scrupel and ethics. Actually, the planet does not need more successful riders; the planet desperately needs horse understanders, horse whisperer, animal rights activists, storytellers and lovers of all kinds.

In my opinion this guy's done some good things and some bad things. The good thing is that he's got his hand in that 10-inch box, meaning he's not loud with the reins. When he does have the reins in hand they are very loose and he's almost on the horse's poll. But they're not so loose the horse will trip. He's not yanking the head around, and based on his body language he is very relaxed and he is very prepared. He's using his body to communicate with the horse and I'm not entirely sure he even needed the reins to begin with.Those are the good things. The bad things: first and foremost that leverage bit. I don't like them, I don't think they're necessary, I think they're abusive, and with a guy like this, riding like this, he shouldn't need a bit in that horse's mouth to begin with. He probably could very very very very very easily gotten away with a rope halter or a bosal. My other concern is how low that that horse's head is when he starts out, and even throughout the routine, the horse looks like he's about ready to fall asleep in my opinion. The horse is acting like he's been trained with a tie down so tight he can't move his head. But you know what? I only get my information by using a critical eye and watching natural horsemanship trainers. People like Ray hunt, Buck Branigan, at times, Rick Gore, people who understand how a horse thinks. my favorite horse trainers are those who put the information out for free, so they make no money off of clinics, personal training or any of that bull crap

The crowd is annoying. You can´t focus on the performance when they are screaming like they are drunk. Let him perform and then scream,not during the performence.

Congrats! Impressive team. Then I watched Stacy Westfall and Roxy perform the same. Bareback bridleless. Roxy was excited. His tail was flipping around like a dog. And he held his head high. Is it a requirement here for horse to hold his head in submissive position?

I thought a constantly open mouth was penalized in reining?? This horse looks terrified to make a wrong move. Spins were all hunched up. His circles were good, but overall i didn't think he looked like a reiner.

The main perpetrators at horseshows are, incompetent and ignorant judges. As long as they reward stressed and struggling horses, instead of a calm and natural dynamic movement, nothing will change, and will lead a lot more horses to frustration, neurosis and physical damage. So scream out in public your disapproval! Maybe you preserve another horse to be tormented by an ignorant imitator. Only the botcher who knows nothing about horse anatomy and kinetics, approves peanut roller and hyperflexion. Accomplished show riders should revolt against this brutalization of equestrian sports. But in my opinion there are almost more imitators unable to cope with the pressure of winning, than thinking competitors. The dreaded "Rein Lame" The horse has a mild gimp in his movement, but you cannot pinpoint where it is. I don’t see any collection at all, but I can see peanutroller, and reinlame horses, to say horses ridden in a forced frame. The western pleasure INDUSTRY is a good description for this kind of riding, it helps the industry to make big profit to the disadvantage of horse’s welfare, and lastly you don’t need skilled riders for this parody of riding.

Not only the judges, but also the public play an important role in the show grounds, because a lay audience that does not know the difference between dressage and show lollop, and whose knowledge only refers to tournaments, tournament stables or the media e.g. the television, by ignorant moderators nicely-spoken faulty riding, will be impressed and applaud. Furthermore, these riders are still rewarded by incompetent judges with top marks. However, an audience with little or no expertise is much more likely to be impressed by spectacular performances. Unfortunately, today the human eye is shaped by the pictures of this faulty riding, which are delivered in the current international riding events Rollkur, Peanutroller are today the big winners in the sport.

Not amazing. Cueing a horse to carry his head that low is ridiculous. Peanut rolling was a bad fad in western pleasure and is no better in reining. Judges should stop rewarding such obviously incorrect training.

I don't really understand reining at all. Also slapping the horse isn't rewarding or feels good.
