Hello Jan and colleagues, Thanks a lot for this overview. You are mentioning in the video a course for people with this machine to get to know the ins and outs. I live in Portugal, so I will buy the machine here. Would I be able to join your course online in some way? I know the basics of sewing, but if there is some guidance on how to get the best out of this machine, that would be great.
What is the Bernette warranty for this machine? The Bernina web site's warranty page only shows Bernina machines and refers users to the warranty card for Bernette machines, which one only sees if they buy this machine. I'm helping a relative shop for a machine, but in order to make an informed decision, we need to know what the warranty is before considering this machine....and yes, we know the current price is $399.
I saw this today was unimpressed that it doesn’t come with a case to carry it in! Not sure if it’s the one I want I’m an advanced sewist so thinking not enough features for me. The dealer was selling it for 399.00
I have a had terrible time with the foot control pedal. I have a new machine and am wondering if I have a faulty pedal. I do know about the speed control on the machine itself, but I find there is very little control with the speed. Sometimes the machine groans and doesn't begin stitching at all (yes, I move the wheel forward ONLY). Yikes! Also, will this machine accept Schmetz needles?
Yes, it's the walking foot E1 series, which is suitable for b05 Crafter and b05 Academy. The walking feet vary from model to model and are not intern interchangeable among various models even within Bernette.
My b05Academy was sewing in reverse when I unboxed it. I tinkered with it and it worked properly for about 60 hrs over the past year. It started sewing in reverse again in August 2022. I purchased it in Feb: 2021. Is anyone out there having this issue with their b05 Academy?
Yes, I looked for a couple of hours. Called shop. Make appt, shop 1 hr distance. 2 hr round trip I was panicking furious. A new precision machine needs adjustment 😳. No avail. I need my machine now, now in a month. Then, after hunting another hour, tada.... 👉 Make sure the button hole lever is all the way up. Its really the only other reverse function. I called back the shop told them what I found, happened We all got a good laugh, operator technick. It's the little things. Lol Hope this helps. 🙋 🤺💐
The Bernette b05 Academy is the best sewing machine on today's market. What?? Seriously?? Yes! Let's cut to the chase. I wanted an excellent sewing machine to do a good job for me for the rest of my life, so I followed the brand reputation first and bought a JUKI HZL G220. What a horrible plastic piece of Chinese junk! Sluggish, the electronic system lags like on the dead bed, every response to pushing the pedal being considerably delayed. This JUKI HZL H220 actually turned out to be the worst sewing machine I'd ever tried. The quality is terrible, the machine lacks manual foot pressure regulation, and it doesn't even have any socket and pin for the second thread spool to use a twin needle! Moreover, the product stopped working after only three hours of regular use. Plastic, plastic, plastic. So I returned that piece of crap. I expected good sewing machines to be on a more expensive side, so I bought a Janome Skyline S5. Not a good choice, the motor was remarkably weak (50 Watts only), and the feed dogs did not work well enough for the price. So I returned it, too. Then I bought a Bernette B77. Not a bad machine, the feeding works really well and all the necessary functions are available. But the use is really uncomfortable: to apply any basic adjustment (e.g. the upper thread tension), you must struggle through the computer menu on the display, rather than simply adjusting a dedicated dial directly. Everything is computerized, even the pressure foot lift is electronic and lacks the standard mechanical lever, which sucks. So finally I came to the conclusion that these "modern" electronic/computerized machines are not worth my patience at all: they offer hundreds of stitches that no one will ever need, but the basic functions are uncomfortable to reach for. So I returned it. At last, I decided to return to the good old mechanical system and got searching for the best choice among mechanical machines. Having gone thru tens of various offers and read tons of information, I finally decided to take up the Bernette B05 Academy. Bingo! I hit the bull's eye! The machines has EVERYTHING and even more, it's sturdy, super strong, extraordinarily fast, and the control is based on standard of directly adjusting the mechanical dials. The quality of stitches is amazing, and even the price is a piece of cake. So I finally decided to buy two, and I'm really happy.
