Hi How does the b38 work with layers of clothes? For example, in men's trousers, waist belt, collar, cuffs, layers of jeans etc. Hope you can help me. Thanks.
Cody, I recently purchased b38 with intent of teaching kids. The fabric often gets stuck, and only can be released by opening the nuts and cutting the stuck thread. Is this normal? kind of messy for kids to handle on their own.
That is NOT normal. I would recommend going back to your BERNINA dealer where you bought it and have them take a look at it. Also they are required to give you hands on lessons on operation of the machine. We love the b 38 machines because they are so easy to work with and smooth. I hope you are able to figure out what's going on.
Thickness and tight tension. Not smooth flow. Is one pushing, pulling fabric ? This machine is so smooth. Open up - release thread tension, presser feet. It will pull it self through. I had this problem on the heart design thick satin type stitch I released the tension, pressure foot. Let it glide, pull it self. Is fabric even with table Not hanging down table. The weight of fabric, pulling resists smooth glide, then backs up on self. Hope this helped. For me, I find, most times Operator technik - me, lol 🤺💐
Hi there, I'm thinking of buying this machine or the Bernina 335. Obviously this machine is better in terms of pricing but do you think I'm better off getting the 335? What would you recommend?
Good question. The b38 has features the BERNINA 335 doesn’t have like the auto thread cutter. The bernette b38 has more bang for you buck but it’s as robust or strong as the BERNINA 335. The BERNINA can handle more layers of fabric or denser fabrics without hesitation. Depends on what type of sewing you do or plan on doing. Also the BERNINA 335 has all of the 100+ feet and accessories available to it. Where as the bernette only has a handful of feet. Hopefully this helps. 😀
@@sewingwithcodyandpete8651 I use my sewing machine mostly for making clothes and alterations so nothing too thick(3/4 layers of knit fabric max). Would they both produce the same result? I do like that auto thread cutter feature on the bernette I thought that would be handy for me. I kinda wish the 335 has that too. Also, do you know if the front loading bobbin that the 335 have would be sturdier than the drop in bobbin? I wonder if it would make a difference in the long run. Thank you so much for replying :-)
