Your videos are the best, Bernina Jeff. I thank you and my Berninas thanks you for always bringing us the best little tips and treats of knowledge. :) Happy new year!🎊
just purchased the better one, it works a treat, i was having a few issues where the thread at my project would pull at the fabric, now solved. worth every penny it costs. well recommend this holder.
this is the only time that I have heard someone explain this, I have wondered about it because I have cones of thread and spools. Thanks for explaining this.
I remember which way to put the spools by thinking of the 'Guards at Buckingham Palace, they stand straight and tall"...so if the spool is wound straight, then I put it tall (vertical) on my machine. I didn't know about using the spacers in the large spools, or putting the foam side down under the vertical thread pin. I always learn so much from your videos. Thank you!!!
Thank you! I've had the "original" Superior thread holder for years and never knew I could use it for straight wound spools and bobbins; I've only used it for my cones. Nor did I know that I've used the foam/plastic spool plate (whatever you call it) upside down when I've used a straight wound spool..... I've always placed the spool on the foam, not the plastic. You and your videos are such a wealth of information! Someday I'd love to meet you and visit your store in person!!!
Hey Jeff! I just left you a message on the video about fixing the upper thread and spring hook placement - and it just occurred to me after watching this video (by chance!) that my recurring issue may be due to using the wrong thread stand!!! That was a new spool of thread that really was giving me the most issues -- so I'll give the vertical stand a shot and see what I get--! Again - you're the best - I really, really appreciate you sharing all of your knowledge with us "out here in the field!" :-)
That basic information about thread pull directions and extra twisting is one of those things that always seams to get overlooked. (See what I did there?😉) Thanks for putting it out there!
Love your videos, Bernina Jeff! Always helpful and enjoy all the new to me techniques you share and the education on so many dos and don’ts. Sure helps a relatively new Bernina owner. ❤️
Very timely video for me as I was going through one of my sewing drawers yesterday and found the extra bits for the white thread holder and didn’t know what they were for.
Why is this the first time I've ever seen one of your videos? I don't know, but WOW I'm so glad I did! I have a Bernina. It's my first Bernina and I LOVE it! It's the QE570 and it's by far the BEST sewing machine I've ever had. I'm 69 years old, so I've had several different machines. I have just now subscribed to your channel and I can't wait to binge watch!
Brilliant tip about using the wonderclip with the bobbin! Game changer! And creating the loop of thread to help feed it through the small hole. I have 2 of the Superior units and one of the old school heavy metal spool stand (not shown but mentioned - it works fine but I like it less due to weight). They are always filled and most often how I thread my different machines.
Hi Patt, I work for Bernina Jeff. He forgot to set one little option in our Shopify. You should be able to order a thread stand now. Please let me know if you still can't order & I'll have him look at it again. Thanks for your support!
@@AngelaJonesQuilts Hi Angela, I would also like a 740 USB software upgrade. I thought Jeff said there was one for the 740? To save on shipping I'd like to buy them both at the same time.Thank you
@@patttakeuchi3959 Hi Patt. So sorry for the delayed response! I meant to ask Jeff that day but he was busy & then I forgot! I'm off today but need to drop by Hi Fashion. I'll try & remember to ask about an update for the 740. I know there's one for the 770 but I don't remember if there's one for the 740.
I use my Singer Featherweight sometimes. It has a vertical spool and the machine was made for straightwound thread; 1965. But I can find only crosswound thread. So with this video, I understand that crosswound thread would be a problem?
Hi Jeff, I am in Denver. I don't have a lot of money and need a good garment /quilting /denim upcycle/bag machine. I heard Juki, what's your suggestion?
Jeff……Please help. I have a Bernina B770 and the needles keep hotting my #26 foot when embroidering. I purchased it second hand and recently found that she was having the same issue and to use a #15 emb foot. Your comments please.
Jeff do you feel these spool holders are better than the multi spool holder that attaches to the back of a Bernina? Thank you. Fantastic video & information.
Hi Barbara, I work for Bernina Jeff. He doesn't always get to look at the comments & questions, so I'll tell you what my thoughts are...I like the attached thread stand when I do machine embroidery. I can line up threads in the design & they feed well. I use the detached thread stand (that Jeff shows here) for fussy threads like metallic & monofilament, or for large cones or to use up a bobbin. For regular piecing, I use the built-in horizontal spool pin.
Jeff, I keep having "rats nests" or "fabric down the hole" when starting to sew a seam. I have a Bernina 750 which is my first computerized machine, and I am still learning how to use it. I can use "leaders and enders" to solve the thread problem, but I keep thinking there should be a better way! Help!
I'm not Jeff, but are you also using a single hole thread plate? I also use leaders and enders and it helps this "thread down the hole situation, especially if I an sewing the corners of triangles.
@@lindamoon4255 I have been told to start sewing about half to 3/4 inch on the fabric, make a few forward stitches, then reverse stitch back to beginning. This solved my problem when I am not using a straight stitch foot and straight stitch plate.
Hi Jeff. I found a Bernina 170e on ebay and I am interested in just the sewing and not the embroidery. Would this be a good sewing machine or is this machine to old? I just wonder if something goes wrong, can it still be serviced and are there parts. Thank you!
Hi Karen, thank you for your concern! I work for Jeff. We are not close to the fires. It's terrible how it just devastated so many homes; I feel so bad for those folks...
