BERNINA Jeff oil is so important if you don’t oil your machine you must take it in every year or so, modern machines are designed to have a tech service them on an annual basis. The tech will remove the covers and clean the inside and re-oil required areas and perform any needed adjustments. Oil dissipates and gets used up by the moving parts.
Yellow cap oil for all metal moving parts
Red cap oil for BERNINA black bobbin hook area.

I just have mine away to a teacher at the high school! He is new and didn’t know how to maintain his machines in his Maker Space. So I went and cleaned, oiled, and adjusted bobbin tensions for him. Jeff from Hi Fashion and Larry from Twin Falls Sewing Co. have taught me all I know! I need to order two more bottles for my house and classroom.

Also if you only sew some of the time and your machine has just been collecting dust. Use a vacuum cleaner blower, hair dryer, computer cleaner to get rid of as much dust as possible. Oil before you start to sew. When you finish wipe off as much dirty oil as you can and then re oil.

I used to be able to get the highest recommended pearl oil for my Pfaff and Bernina industrial machines. What would be the current equivalent for pearl oil? Google doesn't even know what it is.

I too do not know about pearl oil but I do know the yellow cap oil is recommended
