I had a 1964 Bertram 20 Moppie. It was built like a tank. The fit and finish were excellent. The bilge was fully gel coated and looked exactly like the hull and the entire floor was non-skid gel coat. Without a doubt the best riding boat I’ve ever had. I wish I still had it. It’s worth quite a bit now. Makes my ‘84 Wellcraft seem cheap by comparison.
These are one of the best riding 20' hulls ever made. If it was the salt water hose that came off the chance of engine damage is much less than if it was the closed cooling hose that came off and the engine run with no coolant. As the engine has overheated it is cheap insurance to change the engine oil and filter as once it has overheated it tends to break down and loose its lubrication properties. I hope it is third time lucky with the shake down run and I look forward to your next update.
Hi mate, been watching your videos with a lot of interest as I’ve just bought the exact same boat (Pride Bahia Mar 20) and am in the process of restoring it myself. Wouldn’t mind getting in touch with you if you don’t mind mate and picking your brains a bit. Anyway, I’ll keep watching. Great stuff. You’ve done a great job.
Where are you located mate? My Facebook page is linked in the description if you want to message me from there. Most of my work gets done by a shipwright so I may not be that helpful for anything too technical.
